I feel very safe having my dog in Elaine's hands. This is the first time we've had hope for our "problem child." We've had many dogs and never had need for a trainer. We didn't know how lucky we were. Him being a covid pup didn't help matters. She is very thorough and professional, extremely knowledgable, and respected throughout the community. The person that recommended her to us in the community is so respected by us, so we knew we were on the right road, but now after working with her, we are sure of it. And her contacts throughout the canine community are helping us as well. She is very respectful and kind, despite our shortcomings and mistakes we've made with him before being fortunate enough to have her help come into our life, and we're grateful for that too. I encourage you to look at the other 1 star reviews on Yelp, there is a recurring pattern of unprofessionalism. This is even seen in the replies by the owner, she can clearly "never be wrong." I just want to start by saying this is easily the worst experience I have ever had from any business in my whole life (40 yrs) living in LA, NYC and Las Vegas. Congrats for taking that crown @Confident Canines. Took my puppy here and the owner said on the first class out loud, in a dramatic fashion to everyone, that he bit her when she was feeding him a treat but it was just a passionate grab of the treat, not a bite... her hand was fine and he has never bit anyone, even to this day. He is a kind, albeit excited dog. But not an aggressive one. Instead of doing her job (helping and training dogs), the owner continued her unprofessional behavior by saying we were kicked out of the program and wouldn't receive a refund. Kind of ironic since she runs a dog "confidence" class right? Imagine us, trying to quell our puppy's excitement through the guise of Confident Canines, and then on the first day, the owner kicks you and takes your money. Not a good feeling. The owner should feel ashamed. We have since been to other classes and they have all been fantastic. The same thing happened to other trainers (passionate grab of the treat) and they were mature enough to realize that it was nothing. Everything continued smoothly. Word of advice: if you want to help dogs, then help all dogs EDIT: replying to the owner, we definitely went to your business because I recognize you based on your picture and our credit card charge shows Confident Canines LLC. If your first response without even meeting the puppy is to medicate it, if you're prejudiced against large breed dogs who's owner is reaching out to actually find the right help and answers, and if your response to someone disagreeing with you is to accuse them of 'being on something,' I don't understand why anyone WOULD have rejoined the zoom. I have my Furbo camera footage with audio of Eileen asking me 'if I am on something,' and me disconnecting the zoom. Over explaining the obvious doesn't explain that. 'Severe case of aggression' is insane for me having explained it was a high stress situation nip, ONE time in 12 years with my boy. Way to advocate. Hi Eileen, I did not refuse to accept that medication might be necessary. I respectfully refused to accept the first step in helping my puppy be medication failing a proper assessment and evaluation. I do not believe a 'severe case of aggression' from a trusted vet of 9 years would be referred without regard, and that immediate attitude of demonization of my dog is one of the reasons I ended the zoom with you. I think most of us with a working day to day common sense understand how prescriptions work. The emails to rejoin the zoom were also respectfully ignored as Eileen began to accuse me of being on drugs when I disagreed with her methods and analysis, thus ending the zoom. We have really enjoyed working with Eileen. You can tell she really cares about dogs, has a lot of experience and knows what she is doing. She is kind, patient, enthusiastic, communicative, full of great advice, fun, understanding - I could go on but I think you get the point. This is my first dog so I've had lots of questions and self doubt. Eileen gives me great advice and is always reassuring me that I'm doing a good job with my pup. It's really nice to have somebody helping you out, letting you know what you should work on with and letting you know you're doing a good job. We have had four, one-hour private training sessions with Eileen so far; all at our house. Eileen has always been on time, doesn't "watch the clock" and has given us great insight into our pups behaviors. Eileen's sent a follow up email to us after each session that recapped everything we discussed, gives advice and provides links to useful products for our pup. I've learned a lot from Eileen about how to train and work with my pup. I feel like I understand my pup better now and our relationship has grown because of it. Point is, there is a lot of value in the service she provides. Eileen has even checked in on us a couple times to see how things are going with the stuff we are working and to see how Zelda (my pup) is doing. We're really looking forward to doing more training with Eileen and trying out that awesome agility arena she has. I'm pretty sure my pup is going to love it. Anyway, we highly recommend her, and seriously, there are potentially lots of little things you and/or your pup are doing that you don't even realize (behavior and training wise), but Eileen will see it and explain it to you. We have a large lab and husky, 3 and 4 years old, and after trying adamantly and unsuccessfully to train our dogs, we knew it was time for some professional help. Eileen was patient, thorough, and honest with us. She gave amazing advice on how to meet the needs of our dogs in a sincere and kind way. She was easy to talk to; I felt like I was talking to a friend because she was so personable. She also shared stories and experiences about her own dogs that related to mine, which I really appreciated hearing! After discussing our concerns and her observations, she started implementing different training commands. My dogs were very responsive to her, and we loved the "I do, now you do" approach she took. We were able to learn how to command and praise our dogs by watching her, and they responded just as well to us. We've been practicing her training techniques since she left, and are happy with the progress we've already seen. She also sent us training videos that we can refer to, which is great so we can continue to use the same verbiage and body language. I recently started working with Eileen and am extremely impressed. My husband and I are senior citizens with a wonderful 2 1/2 year old Pyredoodle. Being a giant breed, it is imperative that he be well trained. The first thing that impressed me about Eileen was her understanding of his unique needs based on his breed. I've found most trainers seem to treat all dogs the same. Eileen understands how to work with the innate traits of each dog based on its genetics. In just our first zoom session, we were able to get him to LEAVE IT. I'd worked for over 2 years on the problem of his grabbing and eating everything he could find on our walks. This was a safety issue! I couldn't believe the progress! What a relief!! We are currently working on DROP IT and slowly making progress with that issue. We recently met at a local park to begin working on some leash aggression toward other dogs. It was great to meet her in person. She noticed everything about his body language and gave great suggestions about getting him more comfortable with other dogs. Her approach seems very safe and effective. I am thrilled and feel we've made more progress in 3 sessions than we did in numerous sessions with another trainer over the last 2 years. Her approach is very gentle and highly effective! read more

This review is not about Eileen's skills as a dog trainer, it's about her lack of professionalism as a business person. And I KNOW she's going to respond to my review talking crap, but I'm going to tell the story anyway.: We have two rather large puppies and we were desperately looking for someone to train them with basic tricks. When Eileen arrived, she seemed sweet and very patient. So we opted for the 3- session, $200 package. However, when I had a scheduling conflict, Eileen turned into a different person. I thought we had scheduled our appointment for 5pm and I emailed her at 1:46pm to reschedule because I had an emergency come up. It turns out we had scheduled it for 2pm. She emailed me back at 1:57pm saying she was already there and left since I was cancelling. She didn't bother to CALL or TEXT me back like a professional person would. She never ONCE texted or called to confirm my appointments. Mind you, my address and phone number were the first couple of things she asked me for. I know it was also my responsibility to know my appointments, but literally everyone else I schedule things with send me reminder texts, lashes, hair, doctors, dentist, Everyone. I ran to my wallet and looked for her business card to get her number and I called her 3 times and she didn't pick up. I emailed her back saying I was at home at that moment and asking if she could still come back. She finally called me back later and said that I needed to cancel 24 hours in advance. I kept insisting I wasn't cancelling, I was trying to reschedule because I thought our appointment was at 5pm. She became very rude and told me no because her website said her rule. I also asked if she could make an exception and charge me a fee for rescheduling late like any other professional person would. She rudely said "you can pay full price for another session." So before I hung up I told her I would be leaving a bad Yelp review and disputing the charge with my credit card company... and i followed through. I WON my dispute by the way! Eileen couldn't prove that i had done anything wrong. So thank you for the free sessions, Eileen! A few tips: make a contract so customers can sign; outline your precious rules in person and in said contract; TEXT and/or CALL to verify your appointment times. I really doubt you're THAT busy with your little business that you can't contact customers; come up with a better system to reschedule appointments; DON'T BE RUDE... good luck! 1 Star By the way, i still have the emails to back up my claims, so don't bother to sound like the victim. I am extremely happy with the outcome of my appointment with Eileen! She has such a positive energy about her, my pups took to her almost immediately. She came at my request to deal with some issues with my newly adopted rescue puppies. Only positive reinforcement training, which my girls responded to immediately. She pointed out things things that I probably wouldn't have even noticed about their relationship. She made me feel better about the training I have already done, and also confident in the training she advised. We started working on everything she suggested today. My mom came over tonight for dinner, and with what I learned last night from Eileen, the meet and greet was super successful. My mom did her part by ignoring the pups if they were jumping, and my pup Willow was praised for a " good watch" and staying in place with the help of a lick mat. For the first time in 2 months, Willow didn't jump on her and received a wonderful greeting from her Nana, while keeping 4 on the floor. Yes, today we had some challenges with the boundaries Eileen suggested, mostly on my part, because it is different from what we were doing. But I can say both the walks with each girl were successful using the skills I learned last night. I look forward to the next few weeks to see the positive changes myself and my girls will make. I'm looking forward to our next training session in a few weeks. If you are like me, and treat your pups as your children, you will be extremely happy with Eileen. My biggest fear, is that she would tell me not to allow the pups to sleep with me.. she didn't even blink or have any criticism about it. Everything we did, was reinforced with positive reinforcement for my girls. Which they both enthusiastically responded to. My husband and I have an 8 year old reactive, rescue dog named Brindie. His reactivity extends both to dogs on walks and to other people coming in our home, but who is loveable to us and to others whose homes we visit. In our first appointment with Eileen, by having her come to our home rather than going to her, she showed us how to get Brindie to accept people coming to visit us. This was a REAL breakthrough. And that was in the first 5 minutes of our appointment! She also came up with recommendations on how to extend such acceptance to others. Further, she helped us on the road to reduce Brindie's separation anxiety, as well as recommended both a local vet who understands canine behavior issues and an animal behaviorist. Finally, she suggested going out with us to a dog park to work with Brindie on his serious reactivity to other dogs. We are SOOOO going to do this, as we would love to get him socialized and out in the world rather than just inside our tiny universe. We have 3 little dogs that just love to bark and go crazy at every little noise and they have behavioral issues on their walks. Eileen has helped us so much! She listens very well and is able to offer solutions for all our concerns. I can email or text her and get a response which is very much appreciated when you're still not sure you're doing things right. Plus, she cares for our fur babies! I love that she worries and asks about them. Shows she really loves her job too. And our dogs have responded really well with the training. We have seen positive changes and the dogs are happier. We don't have to resort to yelling over them as much which makes us all happy. The dogs also seem more confident and relaxed on their walks. I would highly recommend Eileen and Confident Canines. We had her come out to help us with our 6 month old collie puppy who we had concerns with his jumping and biting of me. She spent time with us and Riley and gave us excellent recommendations to offer solutions to our concerns. We have only been doing her suggestions for 2 days and we can already see improvement. Riley has problems with being able to calm down and we are hopeful with her recommendations and continued help he will be on his way to the wonderful collie he is. I did the intro to agility with my dog and Eileen. My dog is deaf so I wasn't sure she would be a good candidate, but Eileen assured me she would still try to help. She made a plan to modify her training strategies to accommodate my dogs disability. It was so fun and rewarding to see my girl learning! Eileen was welcomed into my home to train our 5 month old puppy. Within five minutes of meeting our family she already had her mind made up on me with her preconceived notions of me being a bad pet owner. Explaining how I work many hours and that our puppy spends a lot of time in her crate and outside- however, we do play with her so we make sure she gets plenty of exercise (we have two boys who are 15 and 12) and my youngest absolutely adores her, but I work up to 60 hours a week and have no time for training, and how I didn't really want a puppy to begin with (but I did want a dog) she judged me immediately and was very condescending the entire hour. She asked, well why aren't you spending the time to train her? My response - that's why I'm willing to pay you $75 an hour! She refused to hear me out. (By the way, prior to her coming out I have trained my puppy to sit, and pee on command. Yes, I am a horrible dog owner. ) Instead she cut me off and continued to talk down to me in her condescending tone. If my 12 year old can observe this and mouths to me behind her back "are you ok?" then you can only imagine how she made me feel in my own home. She truly went out of her way to give praises to my husband in order to make me feel small and bad. When someone talks to you in that manner you just check out. "She really like you!" She continued to praise my husband. Note to trainer- we hired you to work with the family, not to give praises to one man alone. We have an older son with autism and that's why we need a trained an obedient dog. That was also mentioned but she chose to focus on my flaws as a dog owner. I am giving her 2 stars because she did give my husband a couple good training tips for our puppy in that hour. I'm taking the 3 stars away for horrible people skills. Eileen- note to self- when you're invited into someone's home, please give them a chance. Don't judge people and don't talk down to them. Get to know the family because in the end, it's your people skills that's going to get you far in ANY business. People own dogs. Dogs don't own people. It's people who are in the end going to pay you and give you recommendations. When my 12 year old is telling me to give you only 1 star due to your people skills, when he can't stand to watch you talk to his mom the way you did and leaves the training session and goes off to his room, then obviously you are the problem, not me as a dog owner. read more

My husband and I are so incredibly grateful to have Eileen's guidance with our Jack Russell and Pug. Eileen is a miracle worker. My recently adopted dog had been badly abused. She has a terrible fear of people and hands. My dog Tako has been working with Eileen for 6 months on agility. Eileen has always went above and beyond as an instructor to make sure our doggies get enough practices. She has always stayed beyond the schedule class time just to work on obstacles we may have problems with. She has also provided lots of useful info related to agility, like stretches or exercises with fitbone to keep our doggies healthy. In addition, during his training in class he had displayed some fear aggression towards another dog. Eileen has made some recommendations and exercises and my dog is a lot calmer and happier. Eileen is the exact person you want working with you and your furry friend. My dogs are pretty difficult in terms of aggression and anxiety, and she has helped my relationship with them grow, which has simultaneously reduced unwanted behaviors. She does an excellent job of putting "training" and "behaviors" in perspective by finding the root of the unwanted behaviors, like anxiety manifesting itself as overly protective and aggressive behaviors. Further, while she does wonders with typically labeled "difficult dogs" (see above), she does wonders with ALL dogs! Even if your dog is already awesome, she really helps build a better relationship and trust between owner and dog, which is invaluable. We were able to schedule our training so we had plenty of time to work and not get frustrated. The results have been amazing. Everything we asked for help on has been resolved. We are able to take our pups out in public with complete control, and their focus is on pleasing us. No shock collars, no loud voices, no scolding, just positive reinforcement. Eileen is amazing! We recently adopted a rescue that had some difficult pain issues when we got him along with a need for oral surgery. He quickly developed separation anxiety after becoming attached to me, while he was extremely skittish around my boyfriend. Eileen came to our house, sat with us, patiently answered my post-it notes of questions about our dog's behaviors, and took the time to practice some training with him to work on his different insecurities with both of us. She spent way longer than our session was scheduled for with us, emailed us back late that same evening with notes on our session, tons of recommendations, and has been easily accessible for any new questions that come up! She made it clear when she left that she would not pressure us in to scheduling any follow up sessions and it was completely our choice, but that she would love to be kept updated on his progress.
