I've had such a great experience with Smarty Paws so far. Stormi and I have been going for about five months now, and the progress I've seen has been incredible. Julie has been our trainer for obedience and e-collar, and she is truly amazing. She's extremely knowledgeable, explains everything in a way that's easy to understand, and always takes time during every class to work one-on-one with each dog and owner. You can tell she genuinely cares and wants every dog to succeed. She's also very down-to-earth, easy to talk to, and the dogs absolutely love her. Stormi is a husky, so she can definitely be stubborn and sometimes act like she doesn't understand English when she actually does. Julie really understands the breed (she has several huskies herself), which has made a huge difference. Since starting classes, Stormi's leash walking has improved the most, and she's listening to me so much better instead of barking back at me like she used to... as much. Huskies definitely still have opinions, but the improvement has been huge. I've also noticed a big boost in her confidence. So far we've completed E-Collar, Obedience 1, 2, and 3, and I'm already looking forward to continuing with Obedience 4 and eventually service dog training. One thing I really appreciate is how well Julie works with all kinds of dogs in the class. There have been reactive dogs, anxious dogs, and even deaf dogs, and she does an amazing job helping each one improve. It's really cool seeing every dog make progress week after week. I also started agility with Amanda, and that has been such a fun experience too. Agility has been an awesome bonding activity for Stormi and me, and Amanda does a great job keeping the classes engaging and supportive. I actually found Smarty Paws because I met someone at the dog park whose dog was incredibly well trained compared to Stomri, and they told me this is where they went. I'm really glad they recommended it to me, because it has been such a positive experience. The trainers are knowledgeable, energetic, and genuinely passionate about helping dogs and their owners succeed. I am very disappointed they couldn't help us with my dog's anxiety issue. It wasn't the trainer. But their training style. We didn't believe that a prong collar wouldn't create more anxiety for her. Before considering doing training with this company be aware they use prong collars. If you don't feel comfortable using one like I didn't feel comfortable then don't call them. We love Smarty Paws! Our Pomeranian & Alaskan Klee Kai mix, Maverick, graduated from KinderPuppy on October 18th this year. He is now taking Basic Obedience and both his classes have been with Johnna. She is a wonderful trainer who shows the skill you're wanting to learn until you got it! She also provides excellent tips and tricks to problem solve any issues your pup might be having. Maverick had some struggles with getting his harness on when we first enrolled into classes. Thanks to Johnna's help, he associates the harness with getting to leave the house with us. Her advice changed the game as we were worried we might not have been able to take him out! The classes are hands on and you get exposure to other dogs which is nice. Our dogs need friends too! Smarty Paws is fairly priced. We love how they also offer daycare in case we can't take Maverick somewhere with us. We are planning on continuing to grow Maverick's abilities through Smarty Paws. Smarty Paws has been amazing! We were required, by contract, when we adopted our pup to attend at the very least a puppy kindergarten class and we loved it so much that we are still attending basic 2. Julie has been our trainer and she is so incredibly informative and all the pups really love her. She is available for advice outside of class as well. We also attend the boot camp from time to time on the dates that she is there as an alternative to leaving our pup at home while we work and Julie always send photos throughout the day and keeps us updated on his day. Joining Smarty Paws activities have been a huge addition to our lives and for our dogs. Julie has been an excellent trainer for obedience 1 and 2. We enrolled our year and a half Jack Russell terrier in the Basic Obedience Training classes in October and couldn't be more pleased with the results. Julie was our trainer/coach who led the weekly training sessions and gave us homework to practice each week. Julie explained things in a way that really made sense and gave practical solutions to problems we were experiencing with our dog. She sent texts and videos after each class to ensure we remembered the training we had practiced that week in class and would be able to refer back to the instructions and videos at home during the week. We have also brought our dog to the Boot Camp offered during the day at Smarty Paws several times and have seen additional improvement in her behavior as a result of working with the trainers. This business is very well structured and I feel we have gotten results far beyond our expectations. We are planning to enroll in the next phase of Obedience Training in January to further strengthen our dog's training. I've been deciding if I should leave this review or not. But I have Bad taste from this encounter. So my parents adopted a dog. He's not human social but LOVES other dogs. He's a littermate syndrome boy. So the vet (I used to work for which is the vet he goes to) suggested smarty paws for Day Care. Sounded all good and my parents went down there to inquire and their "trainer" the first one they met won't mention any names was like oh he will need 2 to 3 training boot camp classes (the dog was not with them). They didn't meet any other trainers so it's commission or quota based. She said oh I can train him to pick up stuff all while never meeting the dog or mentioning how long that may take. The vet and everyone said he's very much not ready for training in the beyond basic sense. He knows sit. Leave it. They're website states they need one evaluation at boot camp price to see if they're eligible for daycare. She saw an opportunity and money and not the best for the dog. This I know may not be consistent with the "business" but it was enough for me to look up, read others reviews and leave a review for the one brief interaction we had. read more

My husband and me took our puppy, Girasol, to Smarty Paws for Level 1 Obedience Training. We have seen so much progress in everything she has learned since day one. We were so lucky to have the best trainer Julie Braun. She pushed us to be better dog parents and taught us how to make sure our pup maximized her training experience. She was very clear with boundaries and never forced us to try something we didn't want to or that she wouldn't do on her fur babies. For example, on the first day she gave us about 5 different collar options for training and explained in depth, the purpose and safety of each. While she personally used one, she did not force us to use it, hence all the options. Julie was very personable and truly cared about every single fur baby in the group. We have been taking Bailee to Smarty Paws for about 15 months now. We started in Kinder Puppy with a wild 12 week old! We were hooked and we went to Puppy Socials, a Smart Dog class and all of the Basic Obedience classes. From there we went into the Service Dog program and Bailee just passed her Public Access to be my Service dog. We could not have done any of this without Julie Braun, she is amazing! She helped us every step of the way - everything from the basics, working through some fears, impulse control, getting through some regression behaviors and so much more. I have trained 3 different dogs using the Kinderpuppy, Obedience, Beyond Obedience, Barnhunt, Rattlesnake, Puppy Social, and Agility classes over this time. I love Smarty Paws! I recently enrolled my dog (1 year old Yorkshire) in their Basic Obedience Class level 1 with Julie Braun, and she is absolutely amazing. She makes class fun and relatable, and, even though it is a group class, individualizes training to me and my dog. We are already signed up for level 2! They also have Boot Camp where you can drop your dog off for the day and they will train your dog for you! My dog has made lots of friends and gets excited when driving to the facility. Obedience class and boot camp have made all the difference in my dog, making him more well behaved and obedient to commands (especially for a small yorkie!). Even my dog's groomer has noticed the difference. They noted how my dog is more calm and regulated compared to his last appointment, before coming to Smarty Paws. I also appreciate how the facility is serious about ensuring all dogs who come in are up to date on their shots and vaccines, minimizing the risk of my dog bringing home any illness or bringing anything there. They are also very knowledgable about general dog health and fun facts! Hands down the best place to train your dog in Vegas. While I can only speak for agility training, seeing some of the work the other trainers do makes me want to enroll in more classes. Easily the only place I would trust for day care, dogs come first for everyone here. RANCHO DRIVE LAS VEGAS, NV 89130 (702) 396-8501 (8/26/24) I Have been taking my dogs (5 different dogs over the years: all went to day care and also their schools like OBEDIENCE TRAINING,) to SMARTY PAWS for about last 10 years. Unfortunately, the ownership has changed and is now run by a woman named Madison. I took my dog Pepper in last month and had a very unsettling experience with Madison. Pepper is a female Belgium Malinois (that I just recently got from the Nevada SPCA kennel.) I took her to their OBEDIENCE SCHOOL and she received a diploma as having successfully completed her training. Anyway, Pepper had been going to BOOT CAMP for 6 weeks in a row (6 sessions at $55.00 /session). She is super gentile. Friendly. She can be excitable since she came from a pound (never had a home according to the Nevada SPCA) and not used to being with & and playing with other dogs. However, after 6 weeks of BOOT CAMP with other dogs, she was more than ready to go to day care ($30.00/day). Madison said no. Pepper can go to ALL of their schools (advanced obedience classes (there ae several) agility, barn hunt, service, etc. & quite expensive). but, not to day care. I don't understand this as she has an obedience certificate & would be with tons of other dogs if she was enrolled in any of those other classes, but can't go to day care. Why? I believe that the place is a monkey making machine & why let me pay $30,00 a day when can charge ne $55.00/day. Plus, I wonder what kind of training they gave her in BOOT CAMP (6 sessions of all day sessions) if can't go to day care? What kind of qualified Trainers do they have (look like a bunch of kids there that are basically babysitters for dogs. They never let you into the place (have drop off the dog outside and pick up outside so, never see what's going on inside.) They hardly ever answer the phone & they don't seem to give them much water, if any, in this 110 plus heat (dogs come home and drink a ton of water.) None of this ever happened under the previous ownership & I went there for 10 years!!! Madison was very rude and sarcastic towards me (I told her I was gonna write this review as I was very upset at this turn of events and she said: Go ahead; I'm looking forward to reading it & smiled, as if she could care less. And guess what? I have since taken Pepper to another new day care center (a lot closer to my house and less expensive) and they put Pepper through a meet & great with other dogs & Pepper passed with flying colors and now goes there twice a week for day care. I don't believe that Smarty Paws ever even put Pepper through a meet and greet with the day care dogs to even see how she would adjust. I am writing this long review so thali other potential customers will be fully aware of my situation there and be careful. BUYER BEWARE!!!! read more

My wife and I read the reviews, and were very excited to take our 2yr old healthy boxer/American bulldog for some mild obedience work. She's just a little too jumpy & happy, and sometimes a little too noisy. We have three other dogs in the house, all healthy and well taken care of by our fantastic vet, Cheyenne Tonopah Animal Hospital. Our dogs have never been sick, are always under my control, are current on all vaccines, and have never had any health issues whatsoever. After the first couple of sessions, our pup seemed to be responding well to the 'shaking can', and was even quiet during the next gardener's visit. However, by the third session at Smarty Paws, she literally didn't want to get out of the Jeep, (and this dog loves everyone and everything). The instructor/trainer practically pulled her out by the collar saying, "Well, it's too late now, huh?! Come on." After the fourth session, she came home with a horrible cough and runny nose and eyes. Subsequently, it spread through my entire pack of formerly healthy dogs. For the next three weeks, all our dogs were down with such a horrible sickness, our Vet feared it might turn into pneumonia. What was supposed to be $500 for 10 obedience sessions, turned into over $1,100 worth of VET bills. CERENIA - 16mg/60mg/60mg/160mg - NAUSEA & COUGHING CEFPODOXIME - 100mg x 4 dogs- BACTERIAL INFECTION DOXYCYCLINE HYC - 100mg x 4 dogs- ANTIBIOTIC BENADRYL - twice daily - INFLAMMATION Three trips to the Vet, countless hours...so much stress, as you can imagine. Yes, we read the disclaimer, and we knew of the 'risk'... [While we strive to keep everyone healthy, there are limitations to the bordatella vaccine and fecal checks. With bordatella, your dog can still get the disease, just a milder case. Typically bordatella is not life threatening. When a fecal exam is performed, they are only looking at a small amount of the stool sample under the microscope, so a negative fecal does not guarantee that your dog (or others in your class) are truly negative.] It would seem to me, based on the way my dog developed such obvious signs of illness (coughing, green snot, runny eyes) that it would have been equally apparent in another animal, and perhaps was simply ignored. After several attempts at voicemails and trying to contact Smarty Paws directly, a hand-written paper check was delivered to my house by mail in the amount of $200.00. No note included. No apology. No explanation. No questions. No reassurance. Nothing. Very well. Case closed. Never again. Nor will we recommend them. Ever. This has been my review, and my experience. read more
