    Beef rice rolls
    Simon W.

Good Cantonese local favorite open late. Heard this local favorite rivaled another well known in the area. Thought I'd give it a try given the similarities and also due to proximity to where I was staying. The beef rice noodles were definitely smooth, silky and wrapped with beef. The Beef Chow Mien is always a popular dish with tender beef layered on top pan fried noodles. The pan fried turnip was a tad bland for my taste, the other local favorite is still king for this dish. Congee Wong definitely delivers on good Cantonese food while being open late. The service was great as well.

Congee Wong has clear ties to Congee Queen, but unfortunately misses the mark since Congee Queen does it so much better. Their menus almost mirror each other, and an advertisement for Congee Queen's newest venture is plastered outside. The Congee Queen Group is all about consistency, but there's just something about Congee Wong's food that was a step below my expectations. As you can see, we ordered quite a few options. While there was nothing wrong with the dishes, the flavour wasn't quite there. My favourite item was probably the clams in black bean sauce, which came in a decent portion and had a good taste. Everything else was pretty average. The price did end up being good split between the 7 of us (around $25 each). Not sure I'll be back, but not a bad option for a quick meal in the neighbourhood.

Solid place especially if you're craving classic Cantonese cuisine food. Located in a busy plaza beside a supermarket. It's a very popular local spot as I went here a decent amount of times in the past, the restaurant always have groups coming in and out. I came during Christmas in the afternoon and was able to get seated quickly. Cantonese chow mein: Crispy and fresh noodles! A must have whenever I go here, the portions and quality is decent especially for the price you pay. Lobster e-fu noodle: Soft and chewy noodle texture and delicious lobster. Reasonably priced for the lobster portions. Chicken ho-fun: Typically beef but replaced with chicken for this one. The noodles weren't too oily and you could really smell the wok scent! Yeung chow fried rice: Super large portions that will last you multiple meals after. Not too oily and decent fried rice. The entire meal was under $100 which is a total steal for the high portions and decent quality food. Quick service and lots of tables for large groups - perfect for special occasions. I would highly recommend going here!

Super fast service, each dish arrived one after the other & all around the same time. You're not left waiting between each dish. Hot & fresh tasty food.

Our bill before tips. Very reasonable prices.

Went there for lunch because it's near my house. Very good this time. No complaints. Very satisfied meal and reasonable prices. The complimentary desert, Red Bean soup was particularly delicious. I ate 2 bowls. Waitress was also very friendly and nice. Would go back again.

Beef with bitter melon on rice lunch special
    Catherine S.

Two of us dined in for a Monday lunch and ordered off their lunch menu which included a small side of veg (choysum with oyster sauce), spring roll, soup and your choice of main for around $14 - $17. We had beef with bitter melon on rice, Kung Pao chicken on rice and shared beef sambal chow mien. The accompanying soup was sweet corn and egg drop soup, which was just ok. My beef with bitter melon was also just ok. The beef was chewy, the sauce was too salty for my taste and the rice felt very dry. The spring roll was good but we were never given any sauce for it. The beef sambal chow mien had no spice to it at all, and tasted too sweet. I didn't enjoy this dish at all. The service was efficient. I am not sure if I would come back to Congee Wong as I can find better food at other places closer to home.

My family and I frequently went to the Promenade Mall location for many years until it closed down and decided to come here to see if the food was consistent. We went around noon and had no issue finding parking and the restaurant was not busy at all as there were lots of space. I was craving Thai so we got the pad thai with chicken and shrimp amongst other dishes. I did not expect it to taste yummy tbh it was ketchupy which I did not mind and it came in a large portion too. My family was content with the overall experience here and def would be back!

Whenever I come to Toronto, I am looking for restaurants that I used to like and want to see if they are still the same. Congee Wong is one of them and service was super fast and food was good. So, now is the test going there on a weekday at about 7.30 pm. Quite hungry but is past my dinner time, so I will refrain from ordering too much and limit myself to just 2 dishes. The place is not too busy and service is still very fast. The amount of food is the same if not a bit more. Quality, texture and presentation undeniably exceeded my expectations. Ingredients are fresh and food is served very hot. Exactly as I like it. Half an hour later the place is fully packed.

Best eel fried rice I've had. There's also some imitation crab and squid in there. Ask for extra sauce. The portion is huge for the price. Left overs for a few days

Big restaurant, nice and clean. The service is so good. The people who work here are efficient and food comes out so quickly. We've been going here for the last 2 years and food is good massive portions and prices are reasonable.

We always have a good time at this restaurant. They have I think more than 100 items on their menu, the food comes out fast and the service has been excellent. I ordered the seafood congee this visit with shrimp, Singapore noodles and broccoli. I feel that with this place the food is consistent and delicious. We also picked up some dough fritters, which we could have done without. It's usually good here but the temp might have been off with the oil and it was super drenched and greasy, not the usually breast fried goodness that were used to. But we really enjoyed our visit and can't wait to come back!

This place is legit on Hong Kong style cooking. This is my first time here and a friend recommended this place to us. Wow! Why didn't I find this place sooner. Everything i ate reminded me growing up eating this in Hong Kong. Everything was delicious and came with big portion too. Ordered way too much. The waitress was very friendly and even helped us out with what to order. We got there as soon as it opened and it was already packed. Restaurant holds about 30 tables and it's a big place. Definitely come early if you're coming for breakfast.

    H16 Yeung Chow Fried Rice - $14.50, H13 Shrimp & Egg Fried Rice - $15.50, P15 Beef Mushroom Hot Plate - $19.50

Our group of 5 dined here on a Saturday evening. The food items we ordered are the following: H16 Yeung Chow Fried Rice $14.50, H13 Shrimp & Egg Fried Rice $15.50, P42 Olive Green Bean w/ Pork $15.50, P18 General Tao Chicken $18.25, P15 Beef Mushroom Hot Plate $19.50. The 2 orders of rice & 3 dishes should be enough for 5-6 people to share. Unfortunately, we were not able to sample any congee, but instead sampled a pork, chicken, and beef dish. I have nothing negative to say as to the taste of the food. They came out as I expected them to be coming from someone who has dined in a lot of Congee places / Chinese restaurants. There is nothing that really stands out for me regarding this restaurant's food, interiors, vibe, and overall dining experience. Maybe something good I can add to disclose is that I appreciated that we did not have to wait long for our food after ordering. There was also not a long interval between dishes when it was served to our table.

I was hoping to find something special on the menu. The Peking duck caught my eye at around $70, but then I discovered that almost everything else was extra--lettuce wraps, stir-fried duck meat, fried rice, and soup. By the time you add the extras, the bill is easily another $50 or more, bringing the total to well over $120. We decided to pass, and judging from the dishes we did order, that was probably the right decision. The hot and sour soup had plenty of heat and tang but lacked depth of flavor and was under-seasoned for my taste. Fortunately, we only ordered a small bowl. The deep-fried tofu was bland and forgettable. The stir-fried shrimp was acceptable but nothing special. The biggest disappointment was the sweet and sour pork. I specifically asked the server to make sure the pork was crispy, but it arrived soft and lumpy rather than light and crunchy. Even the complimentary red bean dessert soup was watery and lacked flavor. Our bill came to about $104 for two people. For the quality of the food, I didn't feel it offered good value. Sadly, after several disappointing visits, I don't think we'll be returning.

I ordered a combo which comes with a selection of noodles/chow mein, a small appetizer, and drink. I chose their traditional Lanzhou beef noodle (you also get to choose what type of noodle to get. I got the medium flat noodle). For app, I got their kelp salad which was so refreshing, and a HK style iced tea. My friend was particularly craving their skewers which were a decent size too. I forgot to take pics, but their portions are very generous for the price. Their noodles are hand pulled and you can really tell the difference in the quality. It's more bouncy and filling as they have more substance to them. Their service was very attentive and quick, and while the space of the restaurant is fairly small, there was no wait for 2 of us at 6:30 on a Saturday. Coming with a bigger group may be tougher considering the space. My total bill came to just under $26 after tax and tip, which is very reasonable for the amount and quality of food I got. No complaints at all and I'll definitely be back to an Omni Noodle location for comfort value eats.

The main portion of the dish is super tender braised pork knuckle (not as weird as it may sound) on a bed of white rice glazed with a house Chinese BBQ sauce. It comes with sides of pickled "sour" veggies (酸菜), cabbage, tofu, and hard boiled egg. The pork knuckle almost melts in your mouth and is so decadent with the BBQ sauce. The sides give nice textural contrast and palette contrast. VALUE (5/5) The pork knuckle rice altogether is $10 plus tax and leaves you full and fulfilled.
