We've been loyal customers of Congers Bike Shop for years, but after today, we will no longer be giving them our business. This evening, we attempted to drop off my husband's eBike for a flat tire repair. When we arrived, we were told we could not use the rear parking space to quickly unload the bike, despite the fact that no one was there and it would have taken less than a minute. A staff member, who was outside smoking and behaving rudely, insisted we park further down their narrow street because "100 kids on bikes were about to arrive." We explained that we were longtime customers simply trying to drop the bike off and would move the car immediately afterward. Instead of showing any understanding, he dismissed us entirely, stated he was "on break," ignored our request to speak with the manager (who might have recognized us), and made no effort to help. When we asked again for reasonable accommodation, we were met with more disrespect, and eventually, a deeply inappropriate and insulting comment was directed at me personally. When the manager finally appeared, he acknowledged that bikes were expected to return but made no attempt to de-escalate the situation or address his employee's behavior. He then walked away and offered no help. In the several minutes we were there, no bikes or riders showed up. And rather than provide assistance, they chose instead to block the lot with cones after we moved our car. What could have been a quick and courteous interaction turned into an unnecessarily hostile one. Respect and professionalism matter, and this business lost ours today. read more

Beware. I needed a flat repaired. I told the person working there which size tube I needed. He looked and looked for my size but could not find it. After a few minutes another worker walked in and immediately found the tube I needed. The assistant then showed me my tire and said it wa worn and needed replacement, too. I agreed to getting a new tube and tire. My expectation was that the cost of a new tube and tire would be $25-30 installed. When he asked for $70 I was astounded. I asked how it could possibly be that much. He said China has been raising their prices on him. OK, maybe but not by that much. I paid his ransom and walked out intending to not shop there again and to alert others so that they do not get taken advantage of. read more

I (stupidly) bought a brand-new bike off of Facebook Marketplace and paid the seller to "assemble" it. After having trouble with the handlebars being loose, my right hand brake stopped working midway through my ride today... As I was going downhill. I called Congers Bike Shop and they fit me in right away! I brought in my bike around 1:30 and they recommended that I get a full tune-up. I'm glad I took them up on their recommendation because when they called me at 5:30 to tell me my bike was ready (keep in mind that other bike shops told me that it could be up to a WEEK before they'd have time to fit in my bike!), they let me know that a number of other things were wrong with the bike's assembly. It was $75 well-spent for the peace of mind! Highly recommend bringing your bike to Congers Bike Shop for efficient service! I have bought our bikes and brought my families bikes here for the last several years for maintenance and repair. We are not endurance or racing cyclists just casual riders, and this shop and the staff are happy to work with us on that level. My bike was bought there 25 years ago and it still rides great, we bought our kids bikes there and they took the time to make sure the kids would have bikes they were comfortable with that would last them for a while. read more

Be prepared to argue, ask for a full explanation and haggle - then overpay, Alternatively take my recommended course of action and get your bike tuned elsewhere. Amazing! Congers Bike Shop has never let me down. They allow you to rent bicycles from them, and buy brand new. The shop is located right across the street from a popular trail and is in a convenient location. They have a variety of bikes, even during these times of low stock in other places. These guys obviously know what they're doing. They sell quality bikes that I've been able to ride for hundreds of miles without issue. I bought a bike from them in October, 2020. For a great price and they offered a 2 year warranty for maintenance and repairs. So today when my rear axle broke, I was able to get the wheel replaced within 45 minutes and the tune up for free! This is it last time for me in this crappy bike shop. I went in to buy an inner tube 26x1.95 sunlight standard valve and was " overcharged 10.00". I knew once again that I was paying over the top for the item. Just checked on line same tube 2.92. Two weeks it was 20. For plastic cheapass petals. This place did not even let us in and told me to move my car, when I was parked legally and not given a reason. After that weird exchange, from the back door he asked, "what do you want" and we stated we were here to "rent bikes" and he stated they weren't doing it because of COVID. Meanwhile there were bikes that he was sanitizing in the parking lot. We stated "but you are selling Groupons". Than the person says, "let me check inside" and comes back out and says we start Wednesday. It was a very rude experience and I can't help but think it was racially charged! read more

My dad brought his mountain bike in with some issues and when he came back to get it, it was not only perfectly repaired (he rode today and is thrilled with the adjustments) but the man working at the shop also thoroughly cleaned his bike without even being asked to. Poor customer service!!! From the head guy to the next staff they all look like they're itritqted and unhappy with their job and looked like heafless chicken moving around acting busy unless you're buying a bike they look uninterested if you wre getting a soecific parts for a bike. Was trying to get bike shoe clip for my bike pedal, the skinny guy just literally shove me away did not even bother to show me options on the part im looking for. This should be a friendly mom and pop kind of business in the local neighborhood considering how small a business establishment this is but the bigger and more reputable bike shops in nyack and piermont proved way better in customer service. If you're looking for bikes and for parts or equipment, dont come here! Bad and poor customer service!!! For the staff, kindly learn to smile or courteous with your customers next time. read more

This is how you run a bike shop! I was riding from Bear Mountain to Manhattan with two buddies, one of whom hit a pothole just outside Congers and suffered double flat tires. We only had a single tube between the three of us (amateur hour, I know), so we limped into this bike shop for some repairs. Not only did we get a fantastic deal, but the owner filled up our tires, changed the tube for free, and gave us all complementary drinks from his cooler. He did it all with a smile on his face and without pushing us to buy anything more. We all live in NYC, were in a tough spot, and we'd likely never be in the area again to give this guy repeat business; He could have easily taken advantage of our situation, but instead took great care of us and treated us like old friends. I hope this review will give Congers Bike Shop some business. They deserve it. read more

Horrible overpriced bike shop, terrible customer service and a total rip off, they charged two of my cards a total of 5 times, said my card didnt go through so I paid cash. Three days later I found out that the charges went through, when I went back to the shop first they played stupid then they said it was a mistake and promised to fix it. I was in 5 seperate times over two weeks and I cant get my money back! My credit card company says it would take 90 days to investigate it and refund my money! Not a business I would ever do business with again. They could care less and I am out nearly $300, I didint mind paying $20 too much for the bike seat, but now to be beat like this by them its not right. If you need parts for your bike burn your money you will do better than going here read more
