Our food was cooked perfectly, delicious and plentiful; a ham and cheese omelette, a waffle and eggs with ham! We also tried the 'cookie of the day'; somewhat sweet but aren't cookies supposed to be sweet? They were very tasty! I happened to use the bathroom that passed by the kitchen on my way back to our table and I could see food caked on the side of the stove. First time customer. Found them on FB doing dinners on Wednesday night, decided to give them a try. Had the choice of ribs or fish n chips so I was torn but decided on the ribs and am so glad I did! WHAT: In search of a local (Vista) "mom 'n pop" kinda restaurant, my wife and I visited Connie's for a mid-week late breakfast/early lunch. OFFERING: We ordered the French Toast w/scrambled eggs & bacon and the "kitchen sink" omelet with rye toast. THE SERVICE: The small dining area was filled with patrons so we felt fortunate to find one small empty table. The wait person was efficient. THE FOOD: My wife's French Toast was eatable although the syrup was "Ms Butterworth's" nothing natural syrup (first ingredient was 'high fructose corn syrup'). Bacon was crisp. My omelet came out as ordered accompanied by breakfast potatoes and rye toast. All good although the toast was luke warm and pre-smeared with butter or the like. THE BOTTOM LINE: We feel it's important to support local businesses particularly a "mom 'n pop" kinda establishment. We probably won't be back but would urge people to give Connie's a try. read more

Yet when we put it in his mouth he dropped the phone and leaped for the bowl to devour more of the meatloaf! We ordered the Corned Beef hash, a personal favorite which turned out to surpass the meatloaf. It will be difficult to have any but fresh from Miss Connie. We then faced a decision of griddle (pancakes / omelettes) but we also saw eggs Benedict. And this wasn't one style or move on but three or four ways. Amazing flavor and texture! This was my first visit to Connie's, and brunch was perfect! Ordered Eggs Benedict and hash browns...perfectly cooked and very tasty. Small and cosy, and felt like dining in a friend's kitchen. I choose to come around 10 a.m. on a Tuesday, a little brunch but really a second breakfast (I eat six small meals a day. Okay, you got me. Maybe small isn't the correct adjective...) Anyway, rather than cook something for myself, I decided to give Connie's a try. I was the only one in the restaurant so I had the place to myself and Connie served me. Appreciated that there are a booths as well as tables. I'm a booth person - generally need the extra room for all the food. The breakfast special was Strawberry & Blueberry French Toast for $8.95 and the lunch special was 1/2 grilled ham & swiss, tomatoe on rye with soup or salad for $5.95. While I love a good deal - $5.95 for lunch, I can't resist a french toast. But instead of getting the special I went with the Apple Pie French Toast: french toast with sauteed cinnamon apples and 2 slices of bacon for $8.95. The Apple Pie French Toast is made from 2 large 1" thick slices of cinnamon strudel bread (from a local bakery) sliced in half slathered with a heavy layer of cinnamon and sauteed apples. The bacon was crispy yet tender. Service was great. Connie was super nice. And with every check you get a homemade cookie. Mine was heathbar. I'll definitely be back. read more
