This is a cute little place in Vista, that is worth traveling to to support. It is a family owned and ran shop, and everything about it is delightful. The owner, Connie is present and an absolute delight with her sense of humor. They definitely cater to your wants and needs with your meal. I'm a wuss with spice, so my omelette was made with minimal jalapeños, chopped in tiny bits. I was pleasantly surprised by the meatloaf omelette, as I never thought meatloaf and eggs could be so good. My friend said his corned beef hash was very good as well. This review is LONG overdue. Connie's, and by extension, Connie herself, are pillars of Vista and what makes cooking great. My partners and I come here frequently, almost weekly, to have high quality, home cooked meals. The food feels like home, and the cookies are always fantastic. Connie makes everyone feel at home. Also, Connie is the best waitress, manager, cafe owner, and all-around legend. She might be the coolest person in Vista. She's witty, clever, funny, and direct. After Sunrise Cafe closed, I wasn't sure where, if anywhere, I would go for breakfast/brunch, but Connie's was just around the corner. We highly recommend the Lulu's benedict and the french toast! Located in a strip mall, Connie's has plenty of parking and the service is very friendly. Megan was our server today. In fact she served everyone. It's a tiny dining room that probably sits 15 comfortably. It did fill up quick and Megan handled the rush with such grace and control. I was really impressed. Ok, now for the food. I can only speak of what we ordered. My country gravy benedict was very good. Homemade biscuits, poached eggs(perfectly cooked), crispy hash browns and bacon covered with sausage gravy. I'm really not a biscuits and gravy person but for some reason, I had to try it. I'll keep coming back to try all their benedicts. My wife ordered the child portion of French toast with bacon and egg. A lot of thought went into making the egg batter because Connie's French toast didn't need to be drowned with syrup. Try it, if you like French toast ... you'll be back for more. Coffee: I'm really surprised that I enjoyed the coffee. I saw a canister of "Folgers", which usually means; I'm skipping the coffee. Maybe my taste buds have changed. Maybe I'm not a coffee snob anymore. Maybe I'm just getting older and like my dad, I'll be drinking Folgers at home too. NOPE, well maybe ... What a little GEM!!!!! Apple Pie French Toast and Country Benedict. Our starter dishes. Tastefully done. The eggs were poached just right excellent temperature. Found this place on Yelp while we were visiting in the area. Well I'm very pleased we found this spot. It's a wonderful my kind of restaurant, a good old fashioned mom & pop shop with excellent food and service. We found all the interior signs to be very entertaining. I'll say yes they have a little bit of a wait time but let me say it's well worth the freshly made food. The location is small but don't let that fool you. Our server was so sweet and attentive. We ordered lunch and breakfast. My husband had the Denver Omelet, my son ordered the apple French toast. I ordered off the lunch menu. I enjoyed the Avocado BLT sandwich and soup. Mushroom bacon soup was great. You have got to give this place a try and be aware just don't come when your absolutely starving. If you do, just be patient. It's worth the wait. read more

Nothing like going out and eating breakfast that tastes like home cooked. Connie's is clearly a hidden gem. They're currently doing outdoor seating. And have a cute setup out back. Poked our head in the door first thing in the morning when they opened. Quickly greeted by Connie who was in the kitchen cooking away. Looked over the breakfast menu. Nice selection but not overwhelming. I went with the regular eggs Benedict. Looked like it was cooked at home. Nothing fancy but delicious looking and tasty. Came with hash browns that were cooked PERFECT!!!! And yes, I cleared my plate. $10.95 My husband went with the pancakes, eggs and bacon. OMG!!! The pancakes were probably one of the best we've had. There was a light crisp around the edges. Extra fluffy and yes, tasty. The eggs scrambled just right and the bacon was crispy. Nothing worse than taking a bite of bacon and have it snap. INCREDIBLE! Once again Connie's knocked it out of the park. Food is delicious! And the service is amazing as well! But it doesn't stop there...everyone gets a fantastic homemade cookie with their meal (the cookie is enough to make the trip in all by itself). I ordered for a group, and everything was packed perfectly and labeled, making it so easy to distribute when I got back to the office. I'd write more, but I have to keep eating. Connie was my mother's name so I was curious to read about this small, homey restaurant is a strip mall It is small, but the food and service make up for it's size. All that we ordered was delicious and abundant. The omelets overflowed with delicious veggies as did the tortilla. But the real star was the Dutch ApplePancakes. The apples were beautifully sautéed in a caramel sauce that complemented the pancakes Connie couldn't be more delightful if you like a little sass with attentiveness. The breakfast was so good. I had an ABC omelette with the home fries which were crispy fried and delicious. My son got the Lulu's Benedict with Ham and it's was perfect. So we were in the neighborhood looking for apartments for our daughter to find and it was time for breakfast/lunch... "yelped" breakfast... 4 1/2 stars less then a mile away for breakfast/lunch...perfect! First thing I noticed was only one person at the grill... the same person busing tables... cleaning the table off... seating us... then serving the other table food... is that person Connie? It was like she was inviting anyone off the street to her house and doing everything.... never saw that ever... but there she was cooking, serving, taking the orders and seating everyone... wow... amazing... I felt a little guilty and wanted to help get my table stuff but there was a sign next to the table ware and condiments...'Don't Touch!'... just like a mom... keeping this in mind, I did not mind the wait... when Connie finished up with one table, she came over and was very nice... got our drinks and went back to cooking... got our order and cleaned off the table... invited more to sit down and went back to serving the food she just cooked up... wow... now how can she do this and still make amazing home cooked meals at such a reasonable price? No overhead I guess... and amazing the food was... I got the corned beef hash, country potatoes, eggs over easy... real corned beef cooked with crispy edges... amazing! Tried this place for breakfast and I was terribly disappointed by the food and ambiance. This place has very limited seating to begin with but maybe they should consider having even less as Connie clearly couldn't handle all the tables nor could the one and only cook. Connie was huffing and puffing all over the place making exasperated sounds. I also had to listen as she made snide remarks and cursed at other guests. She also made the comment that she's going through menopause which seems like odd thing to tell your guests. It made it seems like she was trying to use that as an excuse for her poor behavior. I also get waiting a long time for my food when there's only one cook but waiting over an hour for my omelet to come out with still raw egg is unacceptable. Connie's should greatly reconsider how many guests they can accommodate at one time and still give great service. read more

Looking for breakfast in the area & noticed Connie's was highly rated so we stopped by! We waited maybe 5 minutes to be sat at 10:30am on a Saturday. I ordered the LuLu Benedict & my husband the regular ham Benedict. Lulu's was great - all the veggies were good. My husband was impressed with the large piece of ham on his. My family went to Connie's for the first time today for breakfast. It was inconvenient that they opened at 8:00, because we're early risers, but we got there right when it opened and received our food very quickly. My eggs Benedict was pretty good, although the eggs were too undercooked for my taste (I've noticed others have mentioned the undercooked eggs). My son was disappointed they didn't have regular chocolate chips for his pancakes, but white chocolate chips were an acceptable second. The bacon was perfectly crispy and flavorful, and my husband loved his apple pie French toast. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be back because the restaurant was uncomfortably small and I was constantly aware of how quiet it was and how others could overhear everything my family was discussing. Connie...hmmm....comes off as abrasive and a little scary. Let's just say I hope you don't have any issues with your food, because I can see her not being receptive to complaints. Maybe it was just a bad day, because I know there was a plumbing issue. Overall the food was pretty good, but I'd recommend takeout. read more

Im very impressed to see so many good reviews, maybe all the reviews are from friends and family and lucky people that had good service at some point. I went there and the owner needs to stay away from her restaurant or sell to someone else, she clearly is frustrated and doesn't like to work with people. She needs to hire a server to do what she cant do: work and be nice to costumers! I ordered my food and after waiting for 40 minutes I asked her about the food (asked nicely) and she started to say loud that I needed to wait or leave! I was shocked! At our grandson's suggestion, we ate breakfast with him at Connie's. Our server, Chau, was the best; friendly, timely and helpful with food selections. (We chose to sit outside and Chau was still very attentive!). Coffee was good and refill's timely! Our food was cooked perfectly, delicious and plentiful; a ham and cheese omelette, a waffle and eggs with ham!
