I went here the other night during the Ballard Jazz Walk. It was standing room only, but I was lucky enough to have a seat and enjoyed the show with some great friends. One the last places on Ballard Ave that still feels like Old Ballard. Great open mic; the selection of beers and whiskeys is superb. Whoever owns this place is definitely a drinker and who knows his or her booze. Word is you'll find some amazing bands playing at Conor Byrne's, and I'm looking forward to catching some music there soon. For now, I love their monthly Brewers' Night, held the first Monday of each month. All of my visits to Conor Byrne have been for shows. It's a pretty cool bar and a good venue for a small band with a local following to have their show at. Many of my friends have played here. The staff is very friendly. The drinks can add up, I feel like it's a bit too expensive for the divey bar that it is. read more

I've been coming here off and on for many years now, and still have yet to feel the traditional warmth that other Irish pubs are intrinsically known for. I believe it stems from the overwhelming Victorian layout with a grand bar to the left and stage in the back with tall ceilings and dark wood which leaves it feeling cold and gravely lacking any intimacy. Also, the staff can be a bit slow and ineffective at times, even as much as never hearing of the common cocktail you're attempting to order. Ambiance aside, the music is the main reason to show up. Connor Byrnes is renowned for its long history of Irish folk singers coming from around the globe, choosing to play here over all other venues. That alone, is worth the step inside! read more

It's pretty low key, it's local and the liquor shelf looks really cool, oh and the bartender was really friendly. I haven't been for a little while but I am planning on making a return trip soon. And the music and entertainment during the week is a nice addition to the bar, but it can be a bit loud if you're trying to go to a quiet bar for the evening. read more

Bouncer was flat out rude, enough to ruin the otherwise pleasant night out. We had made an effort to arrive before the website said there was a cover, but the bouncer had arbitrarily decided we would be the first to pay, and said as much. It's just unfortunate when the first bald head bearded face you are forced to interact with on your night out is a jerk. read more

On my arrival to Conor Byrne, I had been to three other bars that same night...could you say I was on a bit of a bar crawl? This bar even through the haze of the earlier drinking was still a hit, I could say that it's a great Irish bar. I loved the the setup in the back with the stage. There was tons of seating, both bar stools and tables. This particular night has some amazing live music! As I looked at the lineup, it seemed like there is plenty more good music to come! There were a ton of great beers on tap, as well as, your good ole cheap beers like Pabst Blue Ribbon. The bartenders were friendly (so tip them appropriately.) This bar definitely gets packed so try to get there on the earlier side. You might just be able to snag a seat right up close! So get down to Conor Byrne Pub and step on the good foot and do the bad thing!! read more

I am a bit prejudiced against Irish bars as they tend to be twice the price for a snarky atmosphere. Not so with Conor Byrnes though! Having passed this place a billion times, we finally noticed it was there when a friend of ours played a show here. Rainer $2.50? Now there is drinking on the cheap. not to mention the requisite imports and good selection of micros. Happy Hour looks quite enticing from 4-7pm (all day Monday) with micros at $2.50, Guinness & well drinks $4, & Sandwiches 1/2 off. Yum. What we were here for was the live music. They have bands here quite often and a stage set in the back corner gave a platform for a series of great bands up on stage. Shout out to Vince Mtz & the Great Blue Yonder- awesome! All in all, a great venue for chattin with friends, drinking some brew, AND listening to awesome bands. read more

Went here for a show on Friday night. The place definitely has an "old pub" feel, with exposed brick, an old heavy wooden bar and vintage art. Combine this with live music and some good beer and you have yourself a pretty good night. The place is rather narrow and long, which makes it difficult to see the band from the far end of the bar and also difficult to make your way toward the stage if you want to dance, especially when the place gets crowded. All this is mostly OK, though, because smallness creates intimacy which is much of the charm for places like this. My main disappointment lay in the fact that they had neither a wheat beer of any kind nor a porter on tap. Considering these are two of my favorite kinds of beer, and both fairly popular, I was surprised and disappointed. Good ambience, fun crowd, lackluster beer selection (at least currently). read more

This bar has a great, welcoming atmosphere for people from all walks of life. Sometimes it's packed and rockin, sometimes it's really quiet - both can be perfect depending on your mood. The sandwiches are a nice addition if you are feeling munchy, and the bartenders have always been willing to give suggestions of interesting drinks, or even make special margaritas from fresh berries carried in from the farmers' market just up the street. The planned renovation sounds like a great way to make a nice but kind of worn interior into a really beautiful, new-feeling, attractive place that even more people will enjoy - while still in keeping with the historical code of cute Ballard Avenue. The trivia night does have some regulars who clean up (smarty pants...) but the 3-4 revolving trivia hosts seem to do a great job of keeping it all fair, interesting, and fun for everyone who comes out for it. I still hope to win someday. :) In short, I love this bar! read more

This is a lovely, friendly local bar. The bartenders are great and the overall vibe of the place is very welcoming. This truly is one of the gems of Ballard Avenue. Even on the nights they have bands here you don't have to worry about having to shout or not being able to hear the person next to you. The best part? WORST experience there....so bad that I went to the trouble to open an account on yelp just to warn you of this place. Ick. A few friends and I walked in on a Wednesday night, just looking for a place to have a drink and celebrate. We soon learned that it was comedy night, and I was hopeful to hear some funny stuff. In the end it was just a bunch of drunk people who weren't really that funny at all. All the "comedians" kept returning back to the same joke of no one watching or caring... And proceeded to become more and more desperate for attention. Finally the fourth of fifth "comedians" up there played a game called "lets describe all the ladies in the bar". And started to describe our table. Started out slightly funny, didn't really go anywhere. Upset that he had still not gained any laughs, he said he would play a new game describing one lady in the bar but we would have to guess who they were... And he said something like, "flat chested, big nosed, too good for us, etc...". Are you kidding me? We just walked in, bought a Guinness and sat down and were talking.. I'm all up for getting made fun of ....when its funny and actually a joke. This guy got so desperate for attention he was flat out just taunting and insulting a group of ladies. I'm usually one to take a joke, but I was tempted to call this harassment at one point. Geez. 2 stars because they have a cool vibe otherwise. And I want to say they might have good nights other than Wednesday. I won't be going back to find out. read more

Has an intimate feel, and interesting decor. Drinks are a bit on the expensive side, even for a Rainier, but it's one of the better Irish emulating bars in Seattle. Music shows are relatively cheap for some good bands. The bar goers are diverse in all categories. Good show, fam. read more

Ballard has so many great bars to offer--King's, Hazelwood, People's Pub, Hattie's Hat, etc. But Conor Bryne is definitely my favorite. I've been a handful of times, and each time was great. Once a year they have a TOM WAITS tribute night. Several weeks ago I went and it was FANTASTIC. This place got packed, and there was great music being played all night. Good drinks. The bartender served me up an "Irish Root beer" the other night, which consists of whiskey, coke, and a hint of Guinness, a nice spin on the average whiskey and coke. Their signature "Ginger Lemonade" is very good, and a Hot Tottie is always nice on a cold Seattle night. Great ambiance--kind of reminds me of a place you'd see Tom Waits himself hanging out at. Will most likely be coming here again in the not too distant future. read more

This was a great time on Halloween night. Went to a bar next door trying to charge $10 cover; we said eff that and came here, which was a monumentally great decision. Crowded, but not too uncomfortably so, good drinks, and in the middle of it all, a full-on marching band comes in, surrounds the pool tables and gave a great show! I really like this spot. I have been here a few times and always get good service. They have nice happy hour pricing and a really nice staff. They seem to have a lot of live music and its usually just local seattle bands but they seem to be pretty good locals. You should definitely stop in if you are in Ballard. read more

This recently renovated spot is the perfect place to visit if you're feeling a little more classy than dive-y but a little more casual than a suit and tie. The bartender was helpful and conversational about his scotch selection and they had a cider on tap, though not the best kind I've had. With newly installed front windows that gaze out onto Bellevue Ave and a darkish, roomy interior, this is a great place to start your night. read more

Went here whilst visiting Seattle for the first time with my Fiance'. It was fantastic! I love the ambiance of the brick walls, the rich carved wood of the bar and the shelves and the warmly lit corner stage. There was a old time band kind of bluegrass sounding with a washboard and everything. We absolutely adored the bartenders. One created a shot for me that was very tasty with fresh mint and the other gave us a list of local parks and hiking trail areas. Reasonable prices, what more can you ask for? read more

Sometimes I forget about Conor's, since it's been there so long, like an old friend. But recently I escaped for a dose of reality after an "Are you kidding me?" disappointing dinner at Stoneburner. Conor's is always friendly and without an ounce of pretension, not easy to find on Ballard Avenue these days. It's clearly the best place to drink a Guinness in town, and they also make a mean Moscow Mule. I'm glad I remembered it's also a haven away from the hipsters. I walked in to rockabilly heaven. Tattooed chicks with bangs, greaser dudes with horn-rimmed glasses, and a whole lotta shakin goin on. This place was hoppin the friday after Elvis/David Bowie berfday. Vince Mirra the 17 yo johnny cash incarnate threw down a couple smokin tracks and the place lit up like the griswold family christmas display. Leon Berman-- the proctologist of rock and roll sang a tune as well. I loved the scene. There was standing room only, but fortunately my friends a had a spot on lock down before we arrived. I'm not sure what it's like on other nights, but I'd love to go back. read more
