We tried Conrad's in Needham tonight and were really impressed. It's a cozy local spot that's part of a small chain, but it still has a neighborhood feel. I ordered the Bourbon Steaktips Tortellini -- tender bourbon-marinated steak tips served over cheese tortellini in a rich truffle cream sauce with spinach and red peppers, topped with shaved parmesan and toasted garlic bread. Everything was cooked perfectly. The steak tips were incredibly tender, and the bourbon flavor paired surprisingly well with the creamy sauce and perfectly al dente tortellini. Service was excellent from start to finish, and our waitress was attentive and friendly all night. They also have a very solid beer list -- seeing Maine Beer Co. Peepers on tap was a nice bonus. Overall, a really great find and definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

A decent restaurant for family meals when you are too tired to cook at home. Lots of tables, good lighting and TVs in the booths. The steak tips were the best thing we ordered. The Reuben was good, not excellent, and was quite large, so I took 1/2 home. And the clam chowder was served in a big bowl, but the recipe needed more potato and clam, less flour. Still, this was world's better than my cooking, so I'll be back to other things on the menu. And, the people who work here are lovely. It makes the entire experience enjoyable. read more

I stopped in to try as this place opened months ago . I have been to the Norwood location. It was a cold damp raining day. First, place was cold inside, please turn the heat on . I was told the steak tips are supposed to be good. Well , I ordered steak tips to be cooked medium and a beer. The draft beers was a 20 Oz and cold and a good beer. The options for sides on menu detailed minimal options. I selected mashed potatoes , and the only Vegetable option was broccoli , how about corn, green beans, creamed or sautéed spinach, honey carrots, grilled asparagus, grilled garlic brussel sprouts , anything?. I consider myself well versed on steak tips from All locations Newton Dunn's, Oharas , Paddy's . Doms in Malden, 99 restaurants tips, Conrad's Norwood, Lewis's , Texas Roadhouse, Long horn, Capital grill, 110 Grill, Villa Wayland Applebees, Midway Dedham, Dubliner Boston and many others steak tips serving locations . Even the steak tips at Joe's 320 cafe diner West Roxbury were better. These came cold more medium rare than medium .... Looked reheated vs. fresh grilled . No marination flavors ....how about teriyaki, bourbon, bbq, honey , anything for flavor. Mashed potatoes cold , lousy, no flavors, needed cream or butter or anything. My I mother would never serve mashed potatoes as lame as these mashed, no cream, butter or parsley , or cheddar, garlic, onion ... again any flavors .The broccoli was cold , no flavors , no steamed butter or sautéed in lemon flavors ... tasted bland cold, not cooked at all... Entire meal needed a chef ? Menu looked boring options , like a 99 restaurant with 99 more options and seafood . At least Applebees prices are reasonable for better or similar bar type food. Wasn't many steak tips for the price . No bread, rolls, butter offered. I had to ask for butter for flavorless mashed potatoes and dry broccoli. I don't see ordering this again here. I'll be honest .... The restaurant up the street I have eaten at few times has a better experience, food excellent, and appears a chef. Anyway... beer was good, staff nice, may stop back in future and try a burger and a beer ... But , with better options up the street ( I won't mention the name to avoid dinging Conrad's with a competition restaurant) or next town over ; tough to risk another lousy meal which was 47 bucks ... 1 entree, 1 20oz beer, decent tip... I think place needs improvements for food, menu , overall kitchen support... Serving this should be seen by a manager as lacking. Sorry... I wanted to like my dinner outing. I was so happy to see that Needham gained another family-owned restaurant! My mom and I stopped by here for lunch on a Sunday. Service is wonderful, all the staff is super nice! I got a cheeseburger with fries, and my mom got a salmon bowl. My California burger was cooked perfectly, well-done, and was relatively juicy. The toppings were fresh and the bun was tasty. The fries were very good too. The staff was super accommodating to bring me a table full of various sauces for my fries as well. My mom's blackened salmon was very tasty, and the chipotle sauce drizzle served as a nice compliment to the flavors in the bowl. Fresh avocado in the burger and in the bowl was very appreciated! Conrad's has opened another location in Needham in the former Bertucci's next door to Cookie Monstah. They also have locations in Norwood, Walpole, and Foxborough. This popular restaurant and bar offers a solid menu including a selection of appetizers, salads, chili, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, steaks, chicken dishes, turkey tips, seafood, pizza, calzones, desserts, and kids menu. The full service bar offers 20 draft beers, bottle/can beers, wine list, and cocktails. The prices are moderate. The space was redone which offers seating at the bar, high top tables, and table seating, plus flatscreen TVs throughout the space. I stopped by Conrad's - Needham for dinner recently. I used to frequent their former Sudbury location and enjoyed several dinners with my local friend there. The place was very busy when I arrived around 5pm, every seat at the bar occupied. I was seated at a high top table and given menus. The server arrived promptly and took my drink order. I ordered my food shortly after. For a starter, the Crock of Chili ($8.99 plus tax) served with crunchy corn tortilla chips waa comprised of 3 kinds of beans, ground beef and a mild spicy base, topped with melted cheese. Next, the side salad (included with my dinner entree) had a mix of greens & lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, croutons, and dressing on the side. For dinner, the Chicken Marsala ($19.99 plus tax) was comprised of tender pieces of boneless chicken, bacon mushrooms, seasonings and soft linguine in a wine sauce, dried parsley garnish. I bit into a chicken tendon though, a minor comment. I asked for a box for some of this pasta dish so I could order dessert. For dessert, the White Chocolate Cherry Bread Pudding ($9.99 plus tax) was a nice ending to a filling dinner, a warm housemade bread pudding with white chocolate chips, cherries & cinnamon finished with caramel anglaise and vanilla ice cream. The check was presented which was $41.69 with tax and before tip. Overall, dinner was pretty good and the service was very prompt with food items being served in rapid fire succession, still working on previous food items. I will keep Conrad's - Needham in my rotation for dinner. read more

Whom ever is working at Conrad's building meals should not be so skimpy on contents. I had a Cobb salad with chicken and found it lacking. Small portions including avocado, bacon and chicken. This is just this location on Conrad's. I had just days ago enjoyed a Cobb salad at Conrad's in Foxboro and it was a bit less expensive and included what I consider an expected amount of each part of the salad. Sat at the bar. Total patrons sitting at the bar 4. Asked for a BUDWIESER with a glass, server came back with bottle, asked if I wanted a glass. Never a good sign. People beside us ordered steak tips and wanted bread and a salad. Salad and bread never came till he asked again when his steak tips arrived. Now 5 total sitting at the bar Rubin meat was cut too thick and was tough. Needs to be sliced thin. Windows were open so you got the full effects of the commuter train passing the building. I was just there yesterday for an after party from my good friend's funeral. The restaurant was a bit smaller in size and the ones I'm used to as I go to several other Conrad restaurants in the state. But it was very nice. It was still open in here just like all the other ones we went to the back room with the gathering was being held and it was a bit cramped in the room. The bartending service was wonderful. They were very up on top of everybody's drinks the flow and kept going without a problem. They had ice water and other things there. We just sit around for a while talking with everyone then they brought the food out. It looked delicious. However it was a bit disappointing. The Caesar salad was perfect right temperature of right dressing. Everything else rolls and butter are fine. However, the main courses were a bit on the cool side. We had like a pasta dish with some sort of like peachy colored sauce and I think it had spinach in it that was definitely cold. Next we had a grilled chicken that was warm and very thin like and then there was a steak tips to steak. Tips were very good. They were tenders could be. I've had them other Conrads before that they were just exactly the same they were perfect And at the end they had string beans, but the string beans were kind of crunchy. I'm not sure if this is where they're supposed to be or if they just didn't cook them long enough. That part of it was disappointing. I will definitely go back and try this new Conrads again with my husband and myself another time we can have lunch and have something else to compare it to. But other than that, the service were very nice and I ended up taking home two desserts the peanut butter bomb as well as the white chocolate cherry bread pudding both were fantastic with every penny really good food, etc.. read more

The atmosphere is very nice - though a TV at every single table is a bit much. Food is very mediocre - so mediocre that I've eaten my last meal there. It's like a place that specializes in nothing in particular. They DO have amazing potato salad, but that's the only thing I've had there that has been great. Some staff has been nice, but mostly sort of "meh" and recently we had a waitress who treated us like we were a pain in her butt ... and we were her only customers (we think she was bummed that we came in at 8:30pm on a Saturday and she couldn't leave early). Each booth has their own TV. our wait person said they are known for their steak tips so we had those. Stringy unevenly cooked some were rare some were overdone. Ambiance is very clean. Very comfortable family vibe. But the food is over priced and under quality. 20 bucks for chicken parm that made with Prego sauce topped with sliced cheese. Service and beer were adequate! I ordered the "Captain Platter". It consisted of haddack, scollops(4), shrimp(2); all broiled. I was hugely disappointed! The haddock was mush, the shrimp mushy on bottom, the scallops small, tough, and over cooked. The fish and shrimp hadn't been turned while cooked so only one side fully cooked. First time at this location. I looked at a draft beer list with no prices. I chose a 16 oz Maine Lunch which I've had at many other restaurants & bars. When I got my check I discovered that I was charged $16 for the beer. This is an outrageously high price compared to every other place I've gone to. An employee named Joanie spent most of the shift in the corner gossiping with another employee, white male in his late 20s, and they both even bad-mouthed their former places of employment to us. Poor service and very little food for the price: I ordered the combo plate: steak tips and turkey tips and got 3 small steak tips and 4 small turkey tips for $24.99. There is an additional charge if you pick a side salad as one of your sides, which I was not told about. The bartender was more interested in talking with the other staff than service.
