Consol's has been a staple in Endicott's north side since 1946. Apparently it's been through several owners and is still there says something as does the full parking lot. The restaurant is in a non-descript building but the interior is pleasant and inviting. I've always said you can judge a restaurant by their calamari and Consul's was horrible. Fishy smell, very chewy and too heavily breaded. Everything else was good. The homemade spaghetti was excellent as was the sauce. The mixed drinks were excellent! Generous pour and not expensive. Consol's is back! Food is just as good as what we've enjoyed there for years again. Marinara and pizza are same as 10 years ago. Chicken parm or chicken cutlet are not pounded as thin as in the past but still tasty. If you haven't been there in a while give it another try. Worth it. This is my go-to pizza - which is no small achievement in a town that has exceptional pizza. I like the "cheese pie". Honestly, it's the only pizza for a purist. Crust is very thin. Sauce has a tang and distinct oregano note. Pizza is made to order by staff who have been part of the Consol family for as long as I have been eating this pizza. No ambiance to compete with the pizza. I like it that way. read more

I ordered a manicotti and lasagna dinner from Consols last night. Both dinners were so deficient in flavor and texture that we could not finish them. When I picked up I asked for some bread and the young man waiting on me gave me a frustrated look like I was being too difficult. I won't order dinners anymore but I may try the pizza. read more

I've been going to Consol's for over 15 years. I make the hour drive each way just to enjoy a nice dinner. Tonight I was very disappointed in all aspects of the visit. I ordered veal parmagiana and the portion was a lot smaller than it usual is. I also ordered a pizza to go lightly done like I always have. It turned out to be very crispy and when I went up to the takeout counter to let the employee know, he never offered to have them make another one. I also mentioned the veal was much smaller and he didn't say a word. He just stood there with a dumb look on his face. The place has gone downhill a lot. I hope they fix their problems and get back to how they used to be. I have no plans to visit again. Huge disappointment. read more

My husband and I have gone several times in the past month hoping our food would be better and we had the same experience. The food was absolutely terrible. We have been coming to consols for 10 years and always had a great experience with good food. We both ordered the chicken Sophia and it was horrible. The chicken was way over cooked and inedible. There was hardly any sauce and very little broccoli. We both hardly ate any of our meal. Both my husband and I became sick from eating the disgusting chicken. Sauce was bitter and tasted like plain tomato paste with nothing added. Margherita Pizza was not good either; soggy and tasted like jarred burnt garlic. Since when do you put roasted garlic on a margherita pizza? 2 out of 5 people in our party got seriously ill! They got food poisoning ~ the only 2 who ordered a food item with red sauce. Literally writing this as we are waiting for food at a different restaurant. We tried getting food at consols, but it just didn't work out. First, the hostess was pretty rude in letting us know that we had to wait for our full party to arrive prior to be being seated. When we said we are waiting on one more to arrive, she said "well, continue to wait then" We almost left at that point, but decided to give them another shot. After being seated.. we waited 20 minutes, with no one stopping by to take even a drink order. We tried to get the attention of a waitress, but everyone was seemingly trying to avoid eye contact. After 20 minutes, we decided to leave. I couldn't even find a person to let them know we were leaving due to lack of service. Hence this review. We've had a few decent experiences a while ago, but the last time we were here, the service was pretty lacking. After this time, we will probably not be back again. We ordered 4 plain pies for pick up on Halloween night. We got there and waited for a few minutes as there were a couple of people in front of us. The place smelled great from all the food. We could see the guys making the dough and the pizzas inside the kitchen. When we got to the front, we told them what we ordered and they pulled 4 pies from the shelves that were already cooked. They were all wrapped in white paper and you could see the pies in them. I've only seen Grimaldi's in limelight serve them that way too. In any case, we paid by credit card and headed to the car and placed the pies in the empty trunk. We were afraid of putting them on the back seat and the grease getting all over them. I've eaten dinner at Consol's pasta an veal parm mostly. This is the first time I've had their pie. When we got home, we stuck them in the oven for a few minutes to reheat. They were awesome. Nice and thin. The sauce was tasty with just enough cheese. I enjoyed it much more than the Nirchi's pizza my boyfriend normally orders. read more

Came to Consol's last night with my boyfriend's family, and it was the perfect atmosphere to catch up over some great food. The restaurant is pretty inconspicuous from the outside and nothin too fancy inside, but our server was DA BOMB. She was super attentive without being overbearing, always made sure our drinks were full, and did it all with a smile on her face. I like that the entrees are served with choice of soup or salad, and my salad was exactly what you'd expect from a family owned Italian restaurant. Nice crisp iceberg lettuce, tomato & cucumber, and a zippy Italian dressing. I ordered the grilled chicken with pancetta, artichokes and spinach which came with angel hair pasta in a white wine cream sauce which was every bit as heavenly and gluttonous as it sounds. Definitely couldn't have finished it all in one sitting. I also tried the manicotti which was very good and the margarita grilled pizza which was FREAKIN DELISH. The thin crust and the garlic cloves and the sauce and the cheese were dancing a sensual dance together in my mouth. Went here recently after a long hiatus. They don't take reservations but there was only about a 15 minute wait on a Friday around 730. The service was great - everything came out pretty fast and I didnt feel neglected. The food however, was hit or miss. The hot pie was excellent and I would highly recommend it. Super thin crust with just a little char, a yummy sauce and just a touch of provolone. It comes out piping hot and its a challenge waiting for it to cool down! Unfortunaly, the hot pie was the highlight of the meal for me. Everything else was disappointing. My salad was completely drowning in bleu cheese to the point it wasn't edible. I LOVE bleu cheese but this was insane, there must've been a cup of creamy dressing covering my salad. Definitely ask for your dressing on the side! My gnocchi alfredo were just ok. They were homemade which was nice but they were a bit on the dense side. The alfredo was on the bland side and could've used more Parm. The portion was huge so it was well priced for what you get but I don't think I'd get it again. My friend had the veal and spaghetti and liked his food so maybe red sauce is the way to go here. I'll be back but will Prob just be doing takeout for the pizzas. read more

Went here on a busy Sat night. The wait was about 45 min. The only negative was the bar area is small and gets crowded when people are waiting. We actually went accross the street for a drink after we put our name in. The restaurant is quaint and very homey feeling. The patrons seemed to range from young to old. When we were sat, the wait staff was very friendly and accomidating. There were 6 of us, 4 being new to the restaurant. Two of us ordered the Seafood Marinara - Shrimp, scallops, & clams in a light red sauce using fresh plum tomatoes & fresh Italian herbs served over homemade linguine. Three of us had the Italian Trio - One half Chicken Parmagiana, manicotti, & Homemade spaghetti . The last one ordered the Chicken Sofia - Our breaded chicken cutlet served over rigatoni & topped with roasted garlic cream sauce with fresh broccoli & house roasted sweet pepper. Everyone really enjoyed the meals many took home left-overs to have for lunch another day. This is Italian well done like you might get at someone's home. We hear that the pizza is a popular item, we didn't try but saw several that looked quite good! Thin crust, with fresh toppings. The whole dinner for 6 including wine, desserts for 3, tax and tip, all was under $140.00. This definately is on the places to go in the future when visiting the kids in Binghamton. read more

Consol's menu is very limited now. I was surprised there is no veal, no fish, and no roasted potatoes. They now have a family style section, but I miss the old choices. Our server was generally uninformed about the menu and we needed to ask for refills, dishes to be removed, and she was overall, not friendly. However the food we ordered was still solid Consol's. We took my mother-law to dinner here tonight. I had the grilled sausage grilled pizza. It was ok too many tomatoes on it. My husband had the chicken parm with homemade pasta. He said it was a very small piece of chicken and again just ok. My mother-law had the shrimp scampi. She had a good severing of large shrimp but the waitress had to bring her a marinara sauce because the pasta had no flavor. Dinners now dose Not!! Come with salad that's $3 extra. I use to love this restaurant. I think we might keep going to Nicks cheaper and I have food left over for next day lunchtime read more

Atmosphere is always festive with dim lighting, and a cozy feel. On 7/11/18, I had dinner here with a friend. We split the bill and each used credit cards to pay. My friend was charged correctly while I was charged the original full price of the check. I called and spoke with a manager within 7 days who said he found the error, was very sorry and would refund my money by mail and send a gift certificate for any inconvenience. It is now over 3 weeks later and have yet to receive my refund. Additionally, messages left on their voicemail over the last few days have not been returned to me. An Endicott landmark! Okay, I know that many people have STRONG feelings about tomato sauce. Every Italian family I know has a different recipe and they will never be won over by anything that deviates from their traditional secret family recipe So goes the debate about the best local Italian restaurant. While some of my friends may not agree, this place is MY fave for a good pasta dish. (it used to be a tie with Pino's before the place was sold by the original owners and eventually closed.) The sauce here has a light, fresh veggie flavor/texture. Not a dark, heavy, meaty flavor/texture. Just the way I like it. The marinara is what I often order...yummm...GARLIC!! They almost ALWAYS have a line of people waiting to sit. (I mean c'mon, can ALL these people be wrong??) It's REALLY affordable and REALLY good. The dining room has evolved over the years and still has the quirky up a step/down a step as you navigate through the dining area, but it's a comfortable family place. MMMM...the pizza. It's very good. The traditional or the grilled-gotta eat them hot, though. The pasta is good. The dishes that have been added over the years have gotten more creative and varied and I've enjoyed everything I've tried. Though I seldom order dessert...I've never known them to not have their famous chocolate sheetcake. read more

Consol's is definitely one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Broome County. If you go, I highly recommend the portobella mushroom appetizer (with fresh spinach, roasted red peppers and feta cheese). As far as entrees, you can't go wrong with the Chicken Milanese or the Rigatoni with Vodka Cream Sauce. Their grilled pizzas are also tasty. Also be sure to save room for dessert because they have the most delicious Chocolate Cake I've ever had! The frosting is amazing. My only complaint about Consol's is the small bar area and the tables don't have the most leg room (I'm 6' 4" so that becomes a hassle). Otherwise for a great homemade Italian meal and a friendly staff I highly recommend Consol's for your next meal out! read more

I am from Brooklyn and know good pizza. This pizza is awesome. But what is a restaurant with only good pizza? It's nothing, like the number of stars I'd rate it. First upon pickup I was handed the wrong to-go bag. Okay. No big deal. I was first delt the blame and told I was wrong because the man behind the counter knows what he Packed up and gave me. And "he gave me the right thing." After a few minutes of arguing he finally agreed that he certainly did give me the wrong bag and he picked up another bag and said "oh it's right here." Fine mistake made, mistake fixed and we're heading home to eat! But things actually get worse. Anyone knows how to prepare a chicken parm sub: first you egg and bread the chicken, then you bake it.....ill stop there, Because that's where Consols stopped preparing my sub. Being served raw chicken on a sub is the biggest, most careless mistake anyone in a restaurant kitchen can make. It's literally so thin to begin with that it should only take a matter of a few minutes to cook thoroughly. I called and spoke with the man who took my order and he asked what I wanted to do. I said I just want my money back. I don't want anyone to remake it for me. I went back in to find that I had to wait for 5 minutes for the cashier to reappear, and then waited another 5 minutes to wait for a manager to process the transaction. This whole time I was never apologized to nor offered anything for my inconvenience. I was given a refund on just my sub, which was a little less than half my bill between a pizza and garlic bread we had also ordered. Terrible service, terrible chefs, and awful raw chicken. I love the pizza - if you like a thin crust this pizza is great. The one big negative and the reason I don't get pizza from here much is the crazy packaging for take out. Instead of putting the pizza in a box like any normal place would do it comes half wrapped in a piece of paper. This results in a cold and dried out pizza... plus makes it almost impossible to purchase more then 1 or 2 pizzas. Bottom line... great pizza but don't get it to go. read more
