The food here was very good. I had the grilled meatballs which was gilled minced beef and lamb with special Turkish kofta spice served with Turkish rice, grilled tomatoes, peppers and fried tomato. Whew. I'm so thankful for the side that suggested to my wife that we should try this establishment. It was a real treat. Had some Turkish beer, kabobs, Mediterranean salad, the awesome warm and bubbly bread (reminds me of naan), and soups. Sure couldn't eat it all but it was great to graze around the menu. The service was completely on point, complete with some good spirited sarcasm, and the vibe is upscale chill. Clean as a whistle. Just sayin. We couldn't find anything that wasn't great to perfect, be sure to try both or either the lentil and the mushroom soups and that salad was epic. Today, on a whim, we decided to go to Constantine's Restaurant (where Booja used to be). I must add that I am truly glad we did. We were seated, and Ruben, one of the partners/owners (I hope I spelled it correctly), and Ayup attended to us. The menu is extensive, so it took some time to look it over. To begin, the ambiance is so pleasant. It is rare to find a restaurant with white tablecloths and red cloth napkins, especially in this area. The music in the background is a nice addition as well. We started with the MOONSHINE PASTRY (BALLI BÖREK), which was absolutely delicious. I could easily eat four more of them. The honey served with them is also a nice touch. Along with the pastry, we were also served the Lavash along with a butter candle (to be fair, we didn't realize this at first so try it out and enjoy it with the Lavash) I had the pleasure of enjoying the SULTAN STUFFED CHICKEN (SULTAN TAVUK SARMA). The saffron sauce used to top the chicken was delectable, to say the least. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I especially enjoyed the spinach in the stuffed chicken and was pleased that the mushrooms did not overpower the taste of the other ingredients. Mushrooms can sometimes be overpowering when used excessively in a dish. My husband had the pleasure of enjoying the RIBEYE STEAK (ANTİKROT). It was one of the best steaks we have ever tried. One minor query I have is that it was asked to be cooked medium, but it was medium rare. My husband isn't too fond of it like that, but I never mind a perfect steak medium rare. He still enjoyed it, though, with no problems. I tasted the Turkish rice, and we swapped my potatoes for his rice Hehe. I became so obsessed with the rice that I asked for a side of it to take home. The food was so good that we finished our meals completely. Onto the desert... I am someone who, if a place has coffee that I can enjoy at the end, I definitely indulge myself in a cup. Turkish coffee is not for the weak. If you don't like a truly bold cup of Joe, this isn't for you. But I truly enjoyed it. Last but not least, for our dinner, we shared the CHOCOLATE SOUFFLÉ (ÇİKOLATALI SUFLE). My husband enjoyed the fruit and ice cream; my favorite was definitely the yummy SOUFFLÉ. I like dark chocolate , so a purer cacao for me is truly appreciated. To add to our experience, it was a lovely evening filled with amazing food, great music , and a romantic and elegant ambiance. This is a perfect restaurant for a date. It is not one of those places where you think you would spend a small amount, but for quality, you have to pay, so please keep that in mind. Also, my review is based on my taste buds and what I like; you may not enjoy it as much as I did. I am what you call a catadora and enjoy new foods all the time. I like to get out of my comfort zone. We had such a wonderful dinner at Constantine's! The service was spectacular and the ambiance is tranquil and warming. It is elegant yet relaxingly casual. I've been to a number of Mediterranean restaurants in the Charlotte area, but none compare to the experience here. The food is really, really delicious! Though I am not Turkish nor an expert on this cuisine, I feel confident in saying this is the most authentic restaurant of its kind you will find in the area. Everything is super fresh, excellent quality and cooked perfectly at a phenomenal, affordable price to boot. You won't find foods overloaded with salt, seasonings or condiments here. They're simply not needed because the ingredients are just that good. Come and give it a try! I'm sure you'll be back for more, just like my family and friends. I am so glad that Constantine's opened and only wish I lived next door. I guess it is good that I don't because I would eat here every day. The service is excellent and the restaurant is cute and inviting. They give you bread when you sit and it looks kinda boring but is actually good. So far I have loved everything that I have tried and the favorites are, the Turkish Pastry to start, the lamb chops, and the sultan stuffed chicken. The chocolate souffle is a must for dessert! I plan to eat my way through the menu and will update once done. read more

Great reviews from friends led us to take the 45 minute drive to try Constantines. The place gets full marks for uniqueness, authenticity, a pleasant ambience and a friendly and service oriented (and largely family...) staff. The broad menu (segmented by Anatolian and Ottoman styles) presented a large number of intriguing choices...as well as a few familiar standbys for the less adventurous eater. The bar was not well equipped or staffed for cocktails, but that provided the opportunity to learn about some surprisingly enjoyable Turkish wines. An appetizer sampler was a great way to share a number of unique and different tastes, all served with a seemingly never ending supply of poppy bread. All that said, the entrees provided a little disappointment...we four shared two - the table side flamed Pottery Kebab, and the Kebab assortment. Seasonings and flavors were interesting and good, but all of the kebab meats in both dishes were over cooked. This was so uniform that we almost wondered if it was the traditional style rather than just an off night for the kebab chef. Next time I am resolved to avoid kebab and try something like the slow roasted lamb shank. In any case...Constantine's remains a solid choice for being something very different and an enjoyable experience. read more

I have visited Turkey 7 times and have traveled extensively throughout the Mediterranean. When we discovered Constantine's we were hopeful we would enjoy it. I really had high hopes for this place but it was a letdown. The overall atmosphere is not fine dining but they're trying to give that impression. We had a reservation and were seated immediately but it took a really long time for the one waiter in the whole place to come over. Luckily the hostess had already filled our water glasses. We ordered some hummus and an entree each. They were all fine but none of them blew us out of the water. Many people around us got the pottery kebab and we didn't so maybe it was an issue with our choices. If the service was better, I would go back to try something else but at these prices I don't know that I'm willing to. read more

Everything was plated well and looked good but it was bland and greasy. The fillet mignon was horrible. The lamb was worse and was so greasy. As a person very involved in the Arabic community for over 25 years, putting together events and knowing master dance teachers from Egypt/ Spain/ Turkey and all over the USA, I can categorically say that I had the best Turkish meal since I moved to NC. Constantine's is classy, elegant, beautifully decorated, you even get real tableware, real utensils and white real tablecloth and red napkins for lunch!. The food is of amazing quality, freshness, flavorful, very well presented, a pleasure to to eye and palette, with courteous excellent service, taking care of details without hovering. The prices are reasonable on top of all the rest. Reservations are recommended if you like to take the opportunity to judge and review this place after you try it. My girlfriend and I went here for our anniversary--and I'm glad we did. There was a professional yet relaxed atmosphere in the place. The service was wonderful--the staff were all very kind and attentive. The decor was very warm and inviting. Everyone receives complimentary bread upon being seated. The bread served was light and fluffy with a nice crisp to it. It came with a candle made out of butter--and was a very simple yet delicious start. We ordered some of the oven roasted mushrooms and moonshines pastries as our appetizers. The mushrooms were cooked well and paired with a wonderful tomato based sauce with cheese. The moonshine pastries were perhaps my favorite dish--flaky and buttery with a creamy cheese--topped with currants and served with honey and figs. The sweet and savory flavors balanced very well. The pottery Kebab was a great decision as well--the beef was so tender it nearly melted in your mouth. The vegetables were very finely roasted inside as well and all were seasoned to perfection. The Baklava was sweet, flakey, and buttery while the Chocolate soufflé was moist and rich. Both were served with refreshing strawberry Ice cream. As far as price goes, it can get a little pricey depending on what you get (especially if you're trying a lot like we were), but the genuine quality of the food is well worth it. First of all the food was great! We had babaganoush, kebabs and shrimp with mushrooms. Thet start you out with a huge pita like bread, all puffed-up like a balloon. The bad part was the service. While satisfactory when they noticed you, but most of the time we went unnoticed. We waited over 30 minutes for the check despite giving all the hints - stacking our dishes, laying the credit card on the table, etc. Then when we asked for the check the waiter acted annoyed.
