Mediterranean Mule
Rose E.

I've heard some good things about this place, so I agreed to meet some friends here for dinner. Well, I hit the place around 6 pm on a weeknight, and it was mostly empty. The place itself looked cozy...very woodsy, with lotsa comfy booths. However, there wasn't any music overhead, so the place felt a bit barren...lackluster. I've been craving Spanakopita for awhile now, so I was highly anticipating this! Well, sadly, it was probably the worst version I've ever had...worse than the ones I've gotten from grocery stores. The taste was totally off (for me, at least)...in that it was a mix of bitter and bland. The worst part? The pastry part was hardly there!! It was a very odd presentation of Spanakopita...in that it wasn't even a fully enveloped triangle...which didn't make sense to me. I mean, isn't a triangle the hallmark of a Spanakopita? Plus didn't get the weird wavy-crusty presentation overall. Was it supposed to be fancy...or did they just mess up?? Looked NOTHING like the other Spanakopita pictures here on Yelp. Anyway, it was just a minimal dose of pastry, too heavy with Spinach...and not a great flavor. Just very odd...and just very, very bad...priced at 8 bucks! Honestly, I wasn't really craving Souvlaki or anything Greek (aside from the Spanakopita), so I just ordered their Bolognese. Well, again, very disappointed with the flavor. Just flat...utterly tasteless! OMG...I expected so much more than this, given the high ratings here. I didn't want to be a "Debbie Downer" with the girls by expressing my true feelings for this appetizer lol, but downplayed it by saying it was just very "different"...but yeah, I was NOT a fan of their Spanakopita. Guess the only thing I enjoyed was their Mediterranean Mule...very tasty and strong. Service was just passable (if even that?). Our waiter barely checked up on us. Also, might mention that despite the fact that it was a small group of gals, the waiter botched up an order...and one of the girls had to wait extra 10-15 minutes for her corrected meal. Noone raved about the meal either...and I sensed that everyone felt that their meals were barely good...if even that. Also, given how bad the foods were, I felt everything was way overpriced for what it was. At least the drink and the conversation was good?? Maybe it was an off night, but I just expected more from this highly rated place. Obviously, I don't think I'll be making any more trips over here.

Lamb Meatballs for restaurant week app

All of the food here is delicious! Prompted by restaurant week, my husband and I went out for date night (which this place is perfect for!) Our server, Peter, took great care of us, from answering all of our questions to recommending a tasty Greek wine for our meal. We dined early so we had the place to ourselves and the service was prompt, but not at all rushed, leaving us plenty of time to enjoy the food, drink , and each other's company. I can't recommend this place enough!

I was ok. We made a reservation on yelp and they were waiting for us when we arrived. We only had appetizers but they were fine.I did think the wine was priced a bit high as you could not get a bottle for under 40.00, so we had water. We had the cheese that my husband liked.I though it was a bit salty. We also had the spanakopita which was good and the calamari.

Had another good date night with my husband. We love Greek food! We haven't found many Greek cuisine places in Charlotte with a great sit down eating experience. We finally got to drive out to Estia's Kouzina on a Saturday night and it was worth it. First, it is very difficult to find affordable places that have great calamari, Estia's nailed it! The Lamb Chop comes in 4 pieces and I had Rice Pilaf with it. Lamb Chops were tender and juicy . Moussaka tasted great but we wished it came in a larger portion. Margarita and Mediterranean Mule was very tasty, the bartender did their thing on those. We are definitely coming back! Had a solid meal here on Saturday night....Good service, enjoyed the humus and Saganaki. Went with a couple Pita platters, one chicken, one veggie....w fresh cut fries. Everything was good, portions were large....had enough left for lunch the next day.

Saganaki - pan-seared cheese!

Saganaki (pan-seared cheese) was the hit! The rest of the food was good, but we went home talking about that pan-seared cheese. Try it! You won't regret it.

We are from Virginia and was in the area so we decided to stop by Estia's because of the many great reviews on Yelp. We saw first hand why this place has so many reviews from happy customers. The food, service, and ambiance was exactly what we were looking for. Everyone was very friendly.

Food was delicious and adequately portioned. The waiter was very helpful in picking the meal and answered any of our questions. He was also very patient when we took a while to decide what to order. Will def come back.

Excellent Greek food and terrific service. The Saganaki is delicious and the Pastitsio is light and delicious.

The parking was fine but maybe needed some clarity as there was a restaurant and post office adjacent to the lot. It's a gravel lot basically with no clear signage. Not a big issue but FYI. There's a handful of places to visit within walking distance for eating and shopping. Very small town feel. Inside the office, the receptionist welcomed me and was new but friendly and professional. She helped me get set up on the app (still a work in progress) and gave me a quick tour. The big main spaces were already reserved but the phone booth space was adequate to my needs. The internet speed was decent but there was no ethernet cable for direct connection. The common kitchen area was clean and beverages were available as well as small snacks. Terry, the director for the space, was very helpful in troubleshooting issues with billing and reservations. Pricing was also reasonable for a one-day pass. Military veteran pricing is available. If I came to the city more often, I'd get a subscription because it's very close and isn't overcrowded like some co-working spaces.

Our waiter was very friendly, constantly checking on us and keeping our drinks refilled. We ordered the lettuce wraps, Korean BBQ wings, grilled shrimp, filet mignon, spare ribs, and crème brûlée. Everything had great taste and flavor. The Korean BBQ wings and grilled shrimp had a really nice kick to them. Our bill came to about $130 for all the food (we only drank water), which felt fair for the quality and amount we ordered. You should definitely give it a try--we'll definitely be back!

The service was fine but our server was frazzled. It seemed they were light staffed, and it took a while to get our order and our drinks (which we could see sitting in the well). The food- the appetizers- they were great! Would eat the shrimp, crab dip and Brussels again. Shrimp were perfectly cooked and seasoned, as were the Brussels. The entrees - not so much. Essentially everyone was eating raw, cold meat. Our one friend said the short rib was fine, but needed salt. Everyone else got some type of steak that was woefully underdone (as in we ordered medium, and got it flash seared). One friend described it as just chewy, raw meat. We also got a side of asparagus, and they were the saddest stalks I had ever seen - pale and mushy - and maybe 6 stalks for $8 - not worth it. After the food came, we couldn't find our server, but there was also a wedding party coming in to the upper space. Overall, I think they bit off more than they could chew that evening, and we were left chewing on undercooked meat and sad sides.

This is our second visit here, and our first time with the dinner menu. There were lots of great choices! We tried the hush puppies appetizer and the deviled eggs to start. Great presentation and delicious. For entrees we went with the chicken and gravy, fish tacos and the love bug smash burger. Huge portions and really really good. We were very full afterward. We wanted to have a little more leisurely time there, maybe try a dessert, but we had to be at an event, so there was a time constraint. Overall, this is a great spot in downtown Belmont. We started with the pimento cheese fries, which were easily the highlight of the meal. They were flavorful, well-prepared, and set a great first impression. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. The service was noticeably slow, and our food took quite a while to arrive. I ordered the fried chicken, and it was significantly overcooked. The chicken was dry, and the breading was so dark it was just shy of being burnt. The mashed potatoes on the side were good, but they couldn't make up for the quality of the main dish. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak with roasted carrots. The steak itself was quite good, but the carrots never arrived with the meal. They were brought out long after we had finished eating, which made them feel like an afterthought. For dessert, my wife chose the peach cobbler. It appeared to be served with ice cream, but by the time it reached the table, the ice cream had completely melted. The dessert looked more like peach cobbler floating in a bowl of melted ice cream than a properly plated dessert. Whether it sat too long before being served or was prepared incorrectly, it was not particularly appealing. The one bright spot throughout the evening was our server. He was attentive, checked on us regularly, and kept our drinks refilled. Unfortunately, good service alone wasn't enough to overcome the slow pace and disappointing food quality. Based on this visit, the overall dining experience was subpar. Aside from the pimento cheese fries and a few individual items, the meal did not live up to expectations.

It has been 8 months since our wedding & am still haunted by what transpired. I too had a similar experience as the other reviewer but instead of cutting ties when I should've, I gave her the benefit of the doubt by letting her plan our wedding. I had bad experiences with a couple of other vendors that she highly recommended, which I know wonder if she contributed to that. I felt like she told us one thing and them something else. The warning signs were there but I trusted her. After all, she did this for a living. She was completely unorganized. So much so that I had to hire a friend who was a retired Project Manager @ BOA to help with the wedding planning. Till this day, our Save The Dates are nowhere to be found. She claimed to have mailed it out twice but no one has ever seen them. The week of the wedding was not what I had planned. I stayed up several hours w/ very little sleep working on the day of schedule & stressing out about whether or not my Planner knew what she was doing.. The rehearsal was a mess, which caused a delay on everything that day. We were extremely behind schedule on the day of the wedding and she was nowhere to be seen except for when I arrived at the church. Looking back, I wished we wouldn't have gone cheap on the wedding planner & hired someone w/ more experience to handle our wedding. The only positive thing I can say is that her design skills are great but it came with a cost. Needless to say, our budget quadrupled by the time our wedding was over b/c she lured us into thinking we could get glam at a discounted price. Brides to be, let me tell you - there's no such thing!

Even her mom told a guest at my wedding 'my daughter spread herself too thin'. We went way over budget, she was MIA 80% of the time. I had to start all communication with her. Always had to talk about her life for her to respond to any of my questions. She adopted a baby 3 weeks before my wedding, which is her business, but then FOUR DAYS before my wedding that she wouldn't be there because.... she had a 3 week old. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! A bride is beyond stressed and you should really let them know of any surprises as early as possible, but she waited until the very last minute. Infuriating. She doesn't ever know what she's talking about, always late and should not be in this business! I should've fired her when I had the chance, but atleast now maybe I can stop another bride from her trauma. Do not hire her!!!! Ps- most of the 5 star reviews on her pages aren't real brides. She's just trying to overcompensate for the terrible reviews that she gets... like mine!
