I was even able to ask some of them if they could put some of my little stuff in their unit to save me the trouble of digging it out in back of my big items. My X and neighbor was insulted at the treatment today. The day before he was told he had to buy their lock and had to use their insurance. So he drove home. I appeared and they changed their story to yes he can supply his own lock ( I was leaving and planning on giving him my lock because they are absolutely useless locks anywhere else.) Also that he could provide declaration of his home owners insurance . They basically sending us in huge wasted time and circle. The last straw was today they Lied!!! Said he was in their system as living with me ?! That he could not rent with promotional??? They kept copy of his picture ID which is the only thing they could have in system because he has never done business with them. I was so embarrassed I paid for him to get a unit at Storequest storage where I have two huge units for my business. Plus I heard here twice in 4 months of break ins and thefts . Many believing it's an inside job. I've used Storquest for many years and National. We will stick with other storage units that have less customers on drugs which might be due to location.

I've never had an issue with my units, the grounds, or the overall safety of the facility. I genuinely enjoy being here. Over the years, I've referred many people, and at least four of my immediate family members currently rent units here as well. Office management is amazing Scott and Lawrence deserve real recognition. Scott is the on-site backbone of this facility -- the one you see constantly staying on top of the grounds, making sure everything is clean, maintained, and running smoothly day in and day out. His customer service is phenomena; he's dependable, consistent, patient, respectful, and always willing to assist. Lawrence is also phenomenal to work with -- professional, helpful, and always clear when handling anything that involves paperwork or questions. Together, Scott and Lawrence make the office run the way it should, and they're a major part of why I've stayed loyal all these years. When I need something done, they make the process simple and straightforward, every time. To be transparent, I do avoid dealing with one staff member: Ian. My interactions with him have been consistently difficult. His tone comes across condescending, like you know less than you do and he tends to complicate simple requests instead of clarifying them. A recent experience -- I was moving things between my two units and using the electrical outlet on the wall. I'd been plugged in for about two and a half hours with no problem, and then 45 minutes before closing Ian suddenly came out to tell me I wasn't allowed to use it. So it took 150 minutes for you to realize and address the issue. A few days later, I called to ask if they stil had any larger unit I oreviously discussed with Scott available so I could consolidate, and in the middle of the conversation he repeats, "And just to remind you, you also can't use the electrical outlets." At that point, it felt unnecessary. I heard you the first time I'm an adult, I understood it, and repeating it came off exactly the way my experiences with him usually feel. Aside from that, this facility has been nothing but dependable -- clean grounds, secure units, and reliable management. I've been here almost ten years, I currently have two units, and I don't plan on going anywhere else. If you're looking for a storage facility you can actually trust long-term, with staff who genuinely take care of their tenants, ask for Lawrence or Scott. They're the reason so many of us stay loyal to American River Self Storage.

This facility is the absolute worst storage I have ever used. Yes, the young women who are in the…read moreoffice are fabulous, but the reality of the facility is just awful. We have had our belongings there for about five years or so. When we moved in, everything was spotless. The price was reasonable and it wasn't too far from our house. Within about two years, things started going downhill. First, we noticed how many homeless people were using their storage to sleep in during the day. An odor of human feces and urine started to permeate the indoor facility. Then the rats moved in. I hadn't been to my storage for awhile because I was caring for my elderly parents, so was super wrapped up with their care. When I finally went inside my unit, I found rat feces and urine on ALL of my belongings and called to complain. Nothing was happening by talking to the office staff, so I went up the chain to the district manager, who just fed me a lot of lip service. About this time, my parents got really sick and I had no time or desire to be dealing with finding a new storage facility. My parents both passed away last year, and I finally mustered up the courage to face the reality earlier this year. I had found a spotless facility elsewhere at ONE-THIRD the price and I am currently in the process of moving. It is a HORRIBLE experience. My husband and I have to wear a respirator, gloves and goggles to avoid contamination. I have to pack up a load, take it to my house where I'm using three kiddy pools to wash, rinse and bleach each box, item, etc. Then repack it into my truck and unload it in my new storage. I have rental insurance through my homeowners policy, so I'm trying to decide if I should file a claim. I do know that I want to sue the facility for their complete lack of management of many problems that were never addressed, no matter how much I complained. All I can say...GO ELSEWHERE.
