This is really 3.5 stars. Couple of things to consider it is off the beaten path. It's a wholesale operation. They supply many bakeries with their cookies. They didn't have any Italian butter cookie w chocolate chips on them. The selection could have been better. Lady working the counter was pleasant enough. One pound was approx $12 bucks not bad not great.

I am visiting relatives in North Carolina and saw these cookies in a Lowe's grocery store. I love love love rainbow cookies and was instantly filled with giddy excitement, as I laid my eyes on these colorful morsels. I couldn't wait to get them home and out of the package and into my tummy. As soon as we got in the door, I tore into them and popped a full cookie into my mouth. The big smile on my face quickly turned into a disappointed scowl, which then morphed into a disgusted grimace, as the flavor profile was overwhelmingly reminiscent of a chemical you would use to control an unwelcome insect population in your kitchen, which was also where I was eating this cookie, which was also where the trash was, which was convenient because that's where these went right after I tried one. After contemplating what could've caused the extremely unsavory taste, I surmised that it had to be way too much almond extract in the marzipan. To make sure it wasn't just my taste buds bugging out, I had my wife and sister-in-law try them too, without providing any details as to what I was tasting. My wife said it tasted very bitter and like chemicals and in addition to too much extract, she felt that there might be too much food coloring as well. My sister-in-law had a similar review. As previously mentioned, I love rainbow cookies so much. Easily in my top three cookies all time and definitely my number one holiday cookie. I was sad that these were so far off the mark. Maybe it was a bad batch, or maybe they are better fresh from the bakery. But this package that I bought at Lowe's on a fateful day in late November of 2022, were 100% inedible.

I've been to various Paris Baguette locations around Central Jersey, and honestly, I wasn't a huge…read morefan... until recently. Let me explain. At one location I frequented, the coffee had really disappointed me. Once upon a time, their coffee was delicious, with rich, chocolatey notes, but the last few visits left me with bitter, almost burnt-tasting drinks, and no amount of milk could fix it. This was surprising, since they supposedly use LavAzza beans. I also never loved their cakes; I often found them too heavy on icing and light on actual cake. However, on a recent trip while shopping at 99 Ranch Market (which is conveniently right next door), we decided to give Paris Baguette another try and treat ourselves to pastries. I was immediately impressed by their selection and how frequently the display was refilled. Every item was behind a glass case, which felt very clean and hygienic. The cashiers were great at making the hot beverages, and they asked if we had a rewards program with them. We gave them our phone numbers, and it turned out none of us had signed up or that they expired. Here's what we purchased: - Cafe Mocha - 5/5 stars. Perfect balance of espresso and chocolate. The barista even made a heart on top. Although the lid covered it, the gesture was appreciated. - Cold Brew - 5/5 stars. Smooth and refreshing. - Chausson aux Pommes - 4/5 stars. A French apple turnover with a perfectly crisp crust and tender, flavorful apples that weren't mushy. - Croissant Donut - 5/5 stars. Flaky, buttery croissant-like in shape of a donut, filled with custard that was bright due to the citrus, and well-balanced between sweet and savory. - Blueberry & Cream Brioche - 5/5 stars. Their crust was crispy and light. It was an indulgent treat that was well balanced as the custard was rich, soft, and just sweet enough without being heavy. Patrons can help themselves to cream, milk, utensils, and napkins, which is convenient. The seating is roomy and relaxing, perfect for lingering over coffee and pastries. It's located in the Home Depot strip mall. Parking is usually easy on weekdays, but weekends can get a little hectic. Overall, this visit completely changed my opinion of Paris Baguette. The coffee and pastries were impeccable, and the environment made for a pleasant, stress-free experience. Definitely worth a stop if you're nearby.

There's no wall menu and the bakers primary language is Spanish, so I am unable to identify the types of sweet bread. Name or no name, the bread is a sweet choice to supplement your breakfast. They each have a light, puffy, and flaky texture and are great for dipping in your morning cup of Joe. If you aren't craving pastries, there is a lunch selection available. Double wrapped in two soft shells, the tacos are a quick, but satisfying meal. In my opinion, it wasn't necessary to include cucumbers and lime. But, the chopped radishes surprisingly gave the tacos a nice crunch and you can never have enough cilantro and hot sauce. Whether you are in the mood for breakfast or dessert pastries, stop by for treats that are light on both your tummy and wallet! #LaRancherita #sweetbread #flan #tacos #bergenfieldnj #nwashingtonave #spanishbakery

You know some of the ways to tell if ethnic food is good in a non enclave area? These aren't 100% but often good signs. The workers mostly don't speak English. The customers are all that ethnicity, many of them also speaking little to no English. They hit both. It helps a lot to speak Spanish, especially over the fone. But they make it work if all you know is gringo. Huge tortas. Surprisingly good shrimp quesadillas. Proper tacos and birria with the consommé. Refreshing salsa verde and creamy salsa roja. Big flavors. Admittedly I'm not a fan of their baked goods, but they do have good priced specials on them.

I visited the Bergenfield location on Mother's Day to pick up a cake. There's a parking lot in the back of the store. The interior is small with a few tables/seating available. Very clean, bright, and warm look. It was a busy Sunday morning, but the employees worked quickly and efficiently. Their cake menu has a huge variety of options - fruity flavors, chocolate, Asian-inspired flavors, etc. I ordered the Raspberry Lemon cake (~$45). Yes, their cake prices are on the steeper end... but they are beautifully decorated, elegant, made with high quality ingredients, and freshly baked on-site every day. The cake was packaged in a specially designed box. I loved the functionality of it; it was sturdy with handles for you to hold at the top. It even came with a complimentary cake cutter, matches, and Mother's Day cake topper! My mom and family enjoyed the cake. It was light, fruity, and zesty! Not overly sweet at all. The buttercream frosting was made out of raspberry cream cheese. The cake was moist and fluffy, with a taste similar to lemon pound cake. It had layers of raspberry and lemon filling. It was topped with yellow and pink piping for a vibrant pop of color. I would definitely come back here to get cakes for a special occasion. I would also love to try their decadent pastries and drinks - they have so many options!
