I love this cookie company! My husband and I are obsessed with their rainbow cookies (and their red velvet rainbow cookies). They are a staple within our family and they are so beloved that I literally have been sending 4 pounds of them every holiday season to my aunt in North Carolina for like the past 7 years. I cannot say enough good things. These are definitely the best rainbow cookies in all of NJ. The shop itself it the cutest little nook in their factory and when you walk in your hit with the smell of fresh cookies! The staff is great and the owners are pretty fantastic themselves. I was so excited to bring back a package of the rainbow marzipan cookies that i bought from ShopRite in New Jersey. These were absolutely disgusting. They taste like chemicals. I am visiting relatives in North Carolina and saw these cookies in a Lowe's grocery store. I love love love rainbow cookies and was instantly filled with giddy excitement, as I laid my eyes on these colorful morsels. I couldn't wait to get them home and out of the package and into my tummy. As soon as we got in the door, I tore into them and popped a full cookie into my mouth. The big smile on my face quickly turned into a disappointed scowl, which then morphed into a disgusted grimace, as the flavor profile was overwhelmingly reminiscent of a chemical you would use to control an unwelcome insect population in your kitchen, which was also where I was eating this cookie, which was also where the trash was, which was convenient because that's where these went right after I tried one. After contemplating what could've caused the extremely unsavory taste, I surmised that it had to be way too much almond extract in the marzipan. To make sure it wasn't just my taste buds bugging out, I had my wife and sister-in-law try them too, without providing any details as to what I was tasting. My wife said it tasted very bitter and like chemicals and in addition to too much extract, she felt that there might be too much food coloring as well. My sister-in-law had a similar review. As previously mentioned, I love rainbow cookies so much. Easily in my top three cookies all time and definitely my number one holiday cookie. I was sad that these were so far off the mark. Maybe it was a bad batch, or maybe they are better fresh from the bakery. But this package that I bought at Lowe's on a fateful day in late November of 2022, were 100% inedible. read more

I placed a couple of cookie tin orders ( over the phone ) to be shipped out of state to arrive either in time or as close to after 5/9/2021 Mother's Day as possible ( I was a bit late ordering and thought they wouldn't get there in time - but better late than never ). The female employee who helped me place the order and mail the tins of assorted Kolacky, Marzipan, etc was wonderful. Her cookie suggestions turned out to be right on the mark - softer type cookies for the elderly. What's not to love? There are so many delicious choices at Continental Cookies that it is hard to pick my favorite. My advice is try them all and see what works. If I had to pick one, it'd be the wafer-like kind with the chocolate in the middle. "The Florentine Lace" (had to look it up) is what they're called. They melt in your mouth and it's hard to stop once you've had one. I've also had this bigger version of the Linzer Raspberry cookies dusted with powdered sugar that are phenomenal. I have ONLY had their Marzipan Rainbow cookies and I am a marzipan affectionato. They are the best. About equal to the Belmont Bakery in N. Haledon, NJ. Kings supermarkets carrys these also. I came in to the bakery to see about ordering cookies for my daughter's bridal shower. The woman behind the counter was so pleasant and helpful. I decided to buy about a pound of cookies to sample at home before I called in my order. The rainbow cookie was excellent. The other cookies that I tried were above average down to inedible. I don't know if the display cookies that day were not freshly baked, but some of them had an off-flavor. Many were made from this basic dark yellow "butter cookie" base that did not taste like butter. Those were kind of hard...again, I don't know if they were stale, but I couldn't order from this bakery and serve them on such a special occasion. I actually wound up throwing away most of the cookies after I took one small bite. And if you know how much I love cookies, that's saying something sad. read more

First let me say that what was written was not a review but an advertisement. I bought marzipan cookies and kept finding what was the consistency of small pieces of nut shells. Not in all of the cookies, though. Company is making it difficult to deal with...."bring it back to the store" doesn't really work as the store is not near my house.
