Great servers and food. Good value- not as expensive as many places. Mostly a dive bar atmosphere but very friendly. The double fried hot wings are unbelievable good!!! A good variety of customer ages. Plenty TVs and pool tables downstairs. It's really a great place, if you don't mind smoke- but really the ventilation is good unless it's real crowded. read more

Gabriel's was an unexpected gem! I didn't know what to expect walking in, but I could tell it would be busy from the packed parking lot. When you walk in, it's split into two sections. There's a smaller bar area with seating and then a more spacious area at the bottom. We came on Friday so they had Karaoke. I loved the carefree vibe. Apparently they do Karaoke every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday. We got a few drinks and the fried mushrooms. The food did take forever but it was expected with as busy as it was. And the bartenders were great at handling the crowd. If you're looking for a lowkey place with good drinks and food for an affordable price, I definitely recommend Gabriel's. **You can smoke inside here so if you're not into cigarettes, I would be mindful of that. read more

Someone asked me to meet them here the other day and I said to them, "that place has been closed for 15 years". It hasn't. I was wrong. It's still there. It's your standard old school dive bar. Pool tables, loud music, lots of cigarette smoking and a menu of adequate bar grub that'll get you through the night for around 10 bucks. Sandwiches, tater tots, chicken fingers etc. Nothing fancy but it'll do in a pinch. If you're looking for an unpretentious atmosphere, a cheap sandwich a pool table and a place where you can smoke indoors. This is your spot. read more

Upon entering this cherished local treasure, you'll be treated like royalty and also like a good neighbor. Hands down the only bar I will spend my hard earned money at, and not just because it's the only bar I know in Hoover. The bartender always remembers my favorite cocktail and asks me about my day. They have the BEST karaoke selection (only Garth Brooks but what else could you possibly want). Gabe's was there for me throughout my divorce and I never had to pay for therapy. I absolutely love this place. Decent selection of liquors, knowledgeable staff, pool, darts, live music; the list just goes on and on. This is a smoking bar, so if you're sensitive to that, this may be the wrong place. However, for us smokers, they even offer cigarettes to add to your tab! A fantastic little joint hidden well right off Lorna road. The drinks are just as heavy as they should be, and the prices are lighter than you'd expect. Gabriel's is a fun, casual and all around great bar. The drinks are reasonably priced and the selection is pretty good. It's not too flashy or gimmicky, but they have specials every night for those that can remember. I very recently tried the food for the first time and I was extremely impressed. The cheese fries (with ranch on the side), chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks are all exceptionally good! Unfortunately the kitchen doesn't stay open as long as the bar. Nothing special about this place. It is another bar tucked up in the river oak's center in hoover. It has cold drinks and live music on friday. It isn't too smokey and has plenty of room to sit and have a conversation. I will be back as it is my kind of place. But to give it a 4 star rating would not be fair for the other people looking for something special read more

My boyfriend and I went here for a friend/coworkers going away party. My boyfriend realized he forgot his I.D. when he went to order our drinks. Afterwards, I went to order our drinks, and I was told that he had to leave. I am a server and I understand refusing to serve him, but kicking him out? One of our fellow co-workers that used to work at gaberiels told the bartender (that she personally knew) that she knew my boyfriend and that he was of age and she still proceeded to kick him. I've really only gone here for football games, oh, and the Presidential election (can you tell I don't have TV?), but it seems like a pretty good hangout for people who live closer in the area. I was really surprised to see people smoking inside, but it never got to be too smoky, so no qualms here. Overall, it's your standard bar: good prices, good food, good service. Some of the best chicken wings I have had yet. Definitely toward the top of the list for quality of any of the wing eateries around Hoover/Pelham. They seem to keep a drink special or two going at some point during the day/evening. Not smoky, not overly loud, pretty relaxed environment -except for sports weekends.
