This rating is for Dr. Mitchell. Waited over an hour to be seen and she didn't even really access the issue. I felt like I was talking to a hippie wearing scrubs. When we were walking out she was sitting smiling looking at her phone and texting. No patient education. No do you have any questions? I literally had to help direct what how to help my situation by suggesting it. She all she said was ... "ok we can try that." As she floated away. I hope other doctors are better. I was in a fairly bad auto accident, was concerned I fractured my ribs so made an appointment for 2:30. As I was in a lot of pain, I called to confirm they could take me then. I arrived at 2:15, and gave up at 4:15 and walked out. If they were so backed up, they shouldn't have told me to come in. If they couldn't see me until 4:30 or after, I don't know why they told me to go ahead and come in at 2:30. After being in a major car accident, making people sit in pain for hours is unacceptable. read more

My experience here has always been good. Everyone was always polite. I had to visit urgent care recently for a very painful Bartholin cyst abscess, and I was honestly so nervous and uncomfortable. The staff was incredibly professional, kind, and respectful the entire time. They made me feel safe and taken care of during such a sensitive situation. From the front desk to the medical team, everyone treated me with compassion and didn't make me feel embarrassed or rushed. Samantha the PA physician was amazing!! She didn't make me feel embarrassed of my problem at all. She coached me through the whole process. I had let her know prior to this visit 12 years back. I had the same incident, but the last doctor never numbed me so I felt everything. So you can only imagine how scared I was this time lol. Also Edith the nurse was so caring, she told me it'll be ok and that I'm in good hands. She also said if I wanted to hold her hand through the process I can, which I did and that was very comforting and made my stress level a little calmer. Ray was a sweetheart too, When I was leaving from my check up visit Ray said "I hope you feel better" which was so kind of her. Same thing happened to me as Sarah who commented below. Despite resulting in worse condition after visiting this urgent care (went to the ER after), we were more perplexed with the bill. Got charged $199 even if our copay was $50. They said we will be reimbursed if the bill will be lower than what I paid. I had to run to ER to i gave them what they wanted. After weeks/months, i got a bill of $200+! I called them to explain what I paid at the front, but what they told me was that THEY DO NOT HAVE RECORD on what I paid. This is crazy how they manage billing and the patients are the ones who have to take action. This would be my last visit here since I see im not the only one who had this experience. Regarding the care, the caretaker there tried stuff that obviously seemed to not work, but i thought they would know better. All of the staff was caring and friendly. The wait was short. The rooms are spacious and clean. The provider there was thorough, knowledgeable and explained everything well. Most urgent cares I have been to are very limited in the testing and resources they have available, but this place feels equipped more like an emergency room. For some results that were pending at the time I went home, I was able to follow up the results through a portal, and the provider that saw me followed up with me about the significance of the results. Let's start by saying my Doctor(s) and PA were fantastic. I wish I remembered their names to give them credit. HOWEVER, there were multiple issues that were awful. First off, the nurse who inserted my IV went through the back of my vein. I was in for a CT scan so any medicine/liquid administered from the IV went straight into my arm, not my vein. INSANE pain while UV liquid was pushed in by the machine in the lab next door. No nurse from ContinuEM to be seen. I didn't know what was happening at the time. My arm blew up like a balloon and hurt like crazy for three days on top of my actual injury. I spoke with a friend who is a paramedic and he explained that is what happened. Second, the wait time was insane once I was in the actual urgent care room. "30 minutes" turned into hours for everything I was waiting on. I was finally released after 8 hours. Third, the billing just kept going up and up and up after agreeing to the original pricing. The price tripled and I needed to run my credit card 3 times. No one checked on me, no one let me know how long before I saw a doctor, I was ignored & forgotten. Meanwhile I could hear the staff laughing, making weekend plans and eating. I go out to ask how soon someone could see me & a doctor says "0h what room are you in?" As she is finishing eating & slouching in her chair. I told her I have been left alone for over an hour & she said she could see me now. Forget it I told her & left. I will NEVER go back there. However, I called today to see about returning to do a CT scan and was told that all high index images are paid out of pocket even though you may have insurance. They want you to pay for the test and then submit to your insurance for reimbursement. What! That is so unheard of. If I could give them a zero, I would. My daughter just moved to Long Beach for school and got sick her first weekend. We made an appointment for her at 10:15 pm. I got a confirmation that her appointment was made. When I called the office (from the Bay Area) to confirm everything was set for her appointment and share that she would be paying out of pocket, I was told that I should not have been able to make a 10:15 pm appointment and they could not see her because they could not take any payments after 9:30 pm. My sick daughter was halfway there by the time I told her this information. Nowhere on their website states the timing of payment needs to happen by 9:30 pm. Why are their hours until 11 pm when their last appointment is 10 pm? And why was I able to make a confirmed appointment on their website for 10:15 pm? TERRIBLE appointment process and LACKING information about payment timing (which is unbelievable that I cannot pay for an appointment after 9:30 pm). I wished I could give ContinuEM a good review but after being here 3x on 3 separate occasions I find the doctors here are not professional and they "don't listen to the patients". All they do is make you wait in the room for 4hrs and then come back to spend 5mins telling you nothing is wrong with me!!! So infuriating!!! I was there on 5/24/24 for an acute lower back pain (tht came suddenly), chills and high fever and nausea. I told the nurse and doctor off hand that Ived started an antibiotic and pain meds prescribed by my GP as she suspected it's kidney infection. I even told them I had UTI few months ago. All the information I gave them somehow got ignore as the attending doctor came back and told me my blood test and urine came back normal. So I ask why is my urine orange color and I still have lower back pain. He then said oh the urine and back pain are separate issues. My nausea and orange urine has something to do with me getting expose to some virus!! Really! Immediately I knew he doesn't know what he was talking about. He saw my old scar on my back from a rupture hernia surgery from 24yrs ago and immediately jump to conclusions tht the pain was from that surgery. (which I hv not had any problem since) He just shrugged off and told me I just need to figure out how to manage the pain for life. What kind of doctor just sign you off without giving you a clear explanation or try to figure maybe other test to find out what really happened to me. So i left 5hrs later, with nothing dissolve and filling angry and frustrated I wasted my time at an urgent care that doesn't seem to be interested in listening to a sick patient. I will never come back here and do not recommend anyone who needs urgent medical needs unless you are willing to spend 4-5hrs waiting for nothing. The attending doctor was Freddy Sotelo. Btw I vomited in the sink in the room they put me in and NO ONE came and clean it. For 3hrs plus I was there I had to lay there on the bed smelling my vomit. Also a nurse told me to urinate in a plastic cup for testing, I left the cup in my room for more than an hour until I ask a nurse to see if they can come and get it to the lab. For the 3hrs+ I was laying in my room no nurse has once came in and check on me if I was doing alright. They only came in very annoyed giving me my pain injection and left. Not very friendly nurses, they rather chit chat at the nurse stations as I can hear them laughing away. Absolutely not professional!!! read more

My 8yr was diagnosed with strep earlier this week so although my 3yr old seemed fine & definitely unfazed I took him this morning to their Dr too & he also tested positive. Their pediatrician recommended that I go to urgent care to get tested as well especially because we sleep together. I scheduled a 1pm appt. at ContinuEM through the MyChart app. I arrived @ 12:45, nobody else was in the waiting room. I got called back at 1:15. The nurse took my vitals, but to my surprise didn't automatically swab me. It took 50 minutes for NP Julie to finally walk in. When I told her what was going on and what their pediatrician mentioned about symptoms, she just kind of gave me a blank stare. Then she spent the next few minutes trying to convince me to not get swabbed and that she would prescribe me the antibiotics regardless, but to not fill the prescription until I felt symptoms (headaches & feeling the need to clear throat often ARE symptoms, the pediatrician confirmed). Also told me that the results would take 2hrs, even though everyone else in my household, who all went to different clinics, were able to get results within 15 minutes. After insisting on the test for documentation & because that's what my insurance is for, hence paying a co-pay, she reluctantly agreed & seemed bothered. The 2nd nurse came in another 15 minutes later with my paperwork & said I was good to go, but I hadn't been swabbed, which she was not aware of. She sighed & retrieved the equipment. Then with irritation in her tone, she asked me to open my mouth, did not instruct me to say aww or stick my tongue out, but I did because that's what they made my children do. She swabbed so fast & wasn't even really looking exactly where; then quickly told me you're done, have a good day & walked out just as fast. I believe that is why my results came back negative. Needless to say this offputting experience took over an hour despite having had an appointment at 1pm; I walked out of there at 2:25pm. I will not be going back and do not recommend going there, especially for what you would think be a straightforward and simple visit. read more

$200.00 service charge! I came in with my son and was told there was a 200 dollar service charge. I have insurance, and was a bit confused with this as I've always had a $10 co-pay. I was told this was due to insurances not paying them. I asked if the money would be returned after the insurance paid, They said it would not be returned as this was a service fee. Still confused, the woman behind the desk asked me to read an explanation of the service charge that was taped to the glass. It's late, I'm tired my child was sick, so I left to another urgent care. Called and verified with front seat staff that they take my insurance -optum apple care- and they confirmed. I made an appointment online and arrived on time. They took all my information and then tried to charge me a "service fee" of $99.00 because they are out of network. A great waste of my time. Update: My review is not about my insurance. The next day, I checked my insurance website and confirmed you guys are contracted with my insurance and my copay is $50 less than the service fee. I've definitely found the best ER/Urgent care in Long Beach. (See my prior review for name). Unfortunately it is Not Continuem. We have never been before and I wanted to get hospital treatment without the hospital er wait. So instead of going to our regular urgent care that is amazing we decided to give Continuem a try because we were in the area. Office Front staff/Check in. Great. Friendly and efficient. Although when we entered there were 2 people ahead of us, the wait was still a little over an hour. They take PPO insurance. But do not take Medical. (BCBS HMO through MediCal) Back staff- immediately weighed and stats taken for two people (first cna was very friendly and efficient at her job. Waited an hour once in the back for a clearly overwhelmed PA. The equipment she needed in the room was missing/did not work. She appeared to be rushing. She looked inside my child's through with no light or any equipment and determined she didn't have strep, asked if we wanted Covid tests and sent orders for my child to receive a Tylenol for a fever. I was also seen and treated. No exceptions. My focus was mainly on my child. Not sure if they forgot we were in the room but we were in the room for quite a while after Covid tests were given, Tylenol etc. My daughter had a fever when she arrived and when she left. Given a Tylenol, covid test a prescription and released. Left in same condition as she came. Over three hours later we were released, given papers and were told as we were leaving we didn't have Covid. Unfortunately because we were there so long we didn't get out in time to get medication because pharmacies were closing. This business states a doctor is on site. We were seen by a PA. Maybe the doctor is there but working with other patients? Not sure. I will be doing a follow up review once the bill comes. read more

Honestly, this was the BEST experience in a medical facility I have EVER had!!! I am 36 and have had chronic asthma/bronchitis since I was ten so I have been in my fair share of hospitals. From the moment I walked in, the security guard held the door for me and my friend and literally everyone I came in contact with had the patience, kindness and grace of an angel. I haven't been ill in a while and had previously had a bad experience with another urgent care earlier in the day. This outstanding staff took all of my worries away. The nurse practitioner Kim, xray tech, Donnie, and the host of people who came in my room through the my visit, I appreciate you so much!!! Thank you for my warm blanket and juice and for restoring my health most importantly. I am forever grateful. There are not enough positive things I can say. If you are seeking attentive, knowledgeable, professional, patient and compassionate staff in a very spacious and clean facility, come here!! If/when I need urgent care again, I'll be back! Looked up urgent cares and specific times since it was later in the evening and found this one 30 minutes away with a closing time of 11pm and per their website, accepting last patient at 10:30pm. I came in at 10:20 pm with a broken ankle looking for an xray to be completed and was turned away by the front desk saying that they stop accepting patients at 10:15pm. When we brought up their website hours their story changed to "oh um well we're short staffed so we won't take you." Great, thanks for turning me away when you're clearly not closed yet. read more

If you are having trouble seeing your primary care physician, as I am, this is an excellent place to go. I've gone several times for falls and bronchitis. The doctors and nurses are excellent and they have all the tools needed to diagnose and treat your problem. There is little or no waiting time to be seen, although you might have to wait for treatments and results. Yes, it is probably more expensive than just seeing your PCP but, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Sadly our health system has crashed so we're back to paying for quality care. read more
