40 years ago when we bought our home I installed a roll up garage door. It took over 2 days and a bit of time to set up the extension springs, track support and motor to make sure it would not fall down on the car or kids. After years of bracing metal fatigued panels we decided it's finally time to replace it. Since I have been using CC Door as my hinge and roller parts supplier it seemed logical to have them do the replacement. I considered installing it again myself, but decided to have the experts to do it. I am so happy with that decision! Avo visited multiple times and took meticulous measurements and lots of notes to verify the install plan. Techs Jeff and Chris removed the old door, saved me the bracing I had put on, and installed the new door and motor, which was exactly what we ordered. I'm fairly confident in my DIY capabilities, but I'm amazed at the meticulous and professional work of the CC Door techs! For example: they trimmed the corners of bracing at the rafters and used a level to run the wires for the door switch! I've never seen such attention to detail. And there is no way I could have ever made the final adjustments to the door to get it to operate perfectly, and sit perfectly on a sloped garage floor. They swapped springs and cut cables until it rolled exactly as it should. This perfection is learned from experience and training by techs who really care about doing the best job they can for a customer. No YouTube videos can teach that! I am much more than just satisfied! I can't believe how much quieter and smoother the door now works, and I'm confident this door will last a generation like the old one did. This is one of those projects that when it's completed you say "I am so thankful I hired a professional!!" We opted for the side LiftMaster motor and non-insulated panels (which I don't think are needed in the Bay Area). It was a little over $5k, but I would do it again in a heartbeat, it's totally worth it. Resigned that we needed a tech to come out, I called this morning and spoke to Kevin, who said he gets the same problem several times each day, and then told me how to troubleshoot it. His solution worked. Kevin could just as easily have scheduled a visit, charged the minimal amount (the solution took all of a minute) and I'd have been satisfied. Recently worked with the team at CCD to modify my garage door. The door and motor itself were installed by them a few years ago by the previous owners of my home, but I needed to modify part of my garage which required them to remove and reinstall the door. While it was out, I had them install some windows and perform a general servicing (eg, new springs). Going back in, we ran into some fitment issues based on the other work I had done, but they were able to work with the situation and make it happen. Phone 925-671-7888 The worst company in Contra Costa County scammers who deceive people by installing incorrect parts to people who use this service causing significant damage to the structure of the garage doors and extra costs in repairing the panels. Today, returning from work, I used the remote control for the door and noticed that it had only opened halfway. I tried several times without being able to open or close the door properly. I got out of my car to inspect what was happening without being able to open or close the door properly. By that time the door was already bent outwards and didn't look good so I had to call a company that specialized in garage doors (Doorgi). When the technician (Doorgi) inspected the door he found that 4 panels were already cracked and bent and a large spring of approximately 20 inches was broken but the other spring was in good condition the two springs were painted with a white paint that had the name of the company and the telephone number "contra costa door 925-671-7888" but a spring that had broken was 20 inches and the one that was in good condition was 24 inches. Obviously they installed a spring smaller than the one. another possibly did that because they did not have another 24 inch spring causing other damage to the structure of the door and the panels which by the way was also installed by these negligent people who work in violation of the city and state codes of California . My house is a new house and it is only 7 years old and we're the first owners of this property and we already have to deal with these scammers who instead of installing the correct part, they install the only thing they have in their truck and Possibly these employees followed instructions from the supervisors or owners of this company by not having the correct part at the right time. My wife is thinking about taking other legal actions such as taking them to court and filing a complaint with the contractor state license board to pay for the damages caused by this bad company since we are very upset. If any of you Yelpers have any problems with the parts installed by contra costa door or if you have any extra damage such as the panels caused by poor work by these people, do not hesitate to report them. read more

First, a word of caution. If you Google Contra Costa Door to contact them by phone, make absolutely certain when someone answers that you have actually reached Contra Costa Door, not an answering service that dispatches for a different garage door company. You'll be told they have techs in the field who can respond within an hour or two. That happened to us, and thinking we had reached CC Door, or someone they approved, we scheduled an appointment. Big mistake. Gross overcharges, sloppy work, by a service with no real business location, working out of an unmarked pick up truck. Don't get duped. If the person answering is not from Contra Costa Door, hang up and call (925) 671-7888. Second, this is another rave review for Jeff from Contra Costa Door. He did an amazing job, not only of installing a new Liftmaster garage door motor on our third bay door, but also cleaning up sloppy work done by the company mentioned above on our other two doors. After installing the third motor and rail, Jeff went back over the other two, cleaning up wiring and relocating door sensors to the proper height. Jeff's workmanship was excellent. Highly professional as others have said. He also did a great clean up job afterward. We have been very impressed over the years with the entire team at Contra Costa Door. Aaron & Justin came out to assess my garage door situation. They were very pleasant and thorough. They explained that I could not have my commercial roll up door replaced due to local ordinances. They did all the measurements and explained what would be needed to install a residential door. They gave me a selection of motors and door styles, then an estimated amount.They said a more accurate one would be sent me. It got the estimate the next day. I thought I should get a second opinion and I called another provider . Their guy came and asked me what the others had estimated and didn't take any measurements . Said he would get an estimate to me. After 4 or 5 days I did not hear from him. I called and the receptionist said he was working on the estimate. I recently had a new legacy garage door complete with rails, side mount motor, and decorative glass windows installed. The 20' garage door opening had about a 2" rise in the center of the concrete floor from settlement. Contra Costa Doors templated and made a custom lower panel that matched the floor rise perfectly. The new side mount motor is very quiet and out of the way. The opaque four light grilled openings let nice light sunlight into the garage. 10 more stars if I could! Last Saturday when I returned home after running errands I closed the garage door and heard a metallic clatter. I looked around the garage inside and out and couldn't find the source of the noise. The next day I was scheduled to pick up Nina for an event at Freight & Salvage. I went downstairs and discovered that the door wouldn't open. I called her and she was able to pick me up and bring me back home. Once home I left a message for Contra Costa Door, asking them to call me after 10 AM, which they did. Roger listened to my description of the problem and diagnosed it over the phone as a broken spring. We scheduled an appointment for Chris to come out between 12 and 2 the following day to fix it. Chris arrived about 12:30 and confirmed that it was the spring. He replaced it. I told him that when the power had gone out for almost 48 hours during the last big storm the backup battery had died and my friend Val, whose review of Contra Costa Door had led me to them, had advised me to open the door manually by pulling on the red cord. That didn't work and Val came over later to reengage the mechanism. She was concerned that we had somehow damaged it but Chris reassured me that we had not. Val told me that the battery would probably recharge after the power came back and showed me how to check it and it has. It took Chris maybe half an hour to replace the spring and I was able to move the car out of the garage, much to my relief. They couldn't come out for a few days, so I called Precision. They came out within the hour (for a $69 fee) I explained the issue I was having. Before inspection of motor I was told the spring was mist likely and the motor was being over worked. I explained the spring was only a few years old (already I'm getting a bad feeling) Then the tech looks at the motor and tries the remote and says the motors going to go. My husband finally comes out and we get another explanation of how everything works together, blah,blah... Something felt off. Then the estimate came $3300!! for the good motor and new springs, $3790 for the better! We passed and paid the service fee. A few days passed and Contra Costa Door comes out. I explain the same problem. Eric, our tech, immediately opens the motor box, looks at the rail, and says it's a travel module-$45 Yes, only $45!! We saved thousands going with CONTRA COSTA DOOR. There's a reason they're our usual garage door company. On a side note- I asked how much a new motor would be, $795 installed., no need for springs or rollers. Contra Costa Doors came to the rescue. This company does great work at a reasonable price. The tech was polite and competent. I have no qualms about referring people to them The first time they replace the springs. I was thrilled that I could open the heavy door. I had visions of firm arms that would be the envy of my friends from pulling the door up. Because the door is heavy a couple of times I did not push it all the way up and bumped my head. After weighing the option of firm arms and a head injury or installing a new lift motor, I called them back to replace the unit. I am so glad I did. I have used Contra Costa Door a few times and they had always been good. So much so I recommend them to my clients. Never again though! I have a listing (Real Estate) and a spring broke so my listing team set up Contra Costa door to come out to repair. For one spring and 30 min of labor the total came out to over $500+ (FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS!). My sellers and I were floored and quite frankly, disgusted. The labor was over $200 for 1/2 hour of work. This is criminal. We are letting all of our fellow agents in the community know (we have worked the area for decades) as well as the Mom's groups in the area with tens of thousands of Mothers. Prior to posting this my Real Estate partner reached out to Contra Costa door and they had no sympathy and did not care about our concerns of being charged over $500 for 30 min of work (again over $200 for 1/2 hr of labor). So we have a 31 year old garage door that we thought had come to the end of the line when it stopped opening. We called another service and was told the door was beyond repair and needed to be replaced. We asked for a bid and was given a $3,500 offer for a simple door. We came within an inch of accepting but thought it good practice to get another estimate. We called Contra Costa Door (CCD). They sent an estimator who truly knew the business. He told us our door could be repaired, with warranty, for $695. The repair person came the same day, fixed the door, and explained why the door had stopped working. We asked about replacing the door in the near future and were told it wasn't necessary. At our request, CCD did, however, describe all the new-door options, with prices, all of which were competitive with the first company we called. So we feel fortunate that we sought out CCD's advice and we suggest you do as well. read more

Whenever a door is not working, Kevin solves the problem over the phone, saving me both time and money.
