At first when I sent him the $100 deposit through PayPal for some reason it sent an echeck which would take awhile to clear. Hearing Clayton's concerns I sent the $100 again through Venmo and paid the rest of the balance on Venmo. I asked him that once the echeck clears to please send back the $100. He gave me his word that he would. To this day he still hasnt and in his own words "measley $100". This attitude change all started when he took my shrink packing that I purchased and btw he was going to charge me $80 to use his own! So i decided to purchase my own and of course he took it when he knew it was mine. When you see the text thread you will see how becomes very rude. It's unfortunate because I wanted to give this guy a chance. But once trust is broken I WILL NOT REFER ANY BUSINESS TO THIS LOWLIFE. Again to this day he still has t returned my $100 not given back my shrink wrap. If you look at the owners comment to my review that should be enough to decide that this guy is delusional and had a few screws loose. Clayton the owner changed the price several times during the move, they started at 10am and disappeared with my belongings claiming to have ran out of gas but returned and ask for money for gas to go get my belongings that were in a truck miles away which I didn't receive until 11pm, the owner asked for the money 1500 then after receiving told me that they broke my furniture with valued 11,000 and that I would be compensated. Didn't present contract and took total advantage of me,they snuck out of my home and left things everywhere even their packing materials. I have items and screws missing nothing is back together or in place this has been the worst experience. Update Clayton the owner reply's after blocking my attempts/Calls He calls me sick and a liar (very professional) he also states that I paid him for 1300 (false) to move furniture from Concord to Antioch (tops 45 mins) & within the same statement he makes claims that I wanted him to work for free ? You removed and tore furniture apart including the Tvs. Notice how he didn't clear up disappearing with my furniture for hours claiming to have run out of gas but used the excuse to go through my personal belongings and take my items! Thank god for calls being tracked and the camera footage which shows what he left with but didn't return. He doesn't present contracts because he's not legally able to. Clayton and his crew were by far my favorite. We were moving from a two story town home so walking up and down stairs often can really eat up time but the whole move was completed in about 5 hours. I have waited a year to write this review as my things were in storage and did not now how much was broken. I hired this somewhat company after meeting with Clayton and getting a quote. He also stated they were fully insured. He is not. The day of the move after an hour of waiting, I begin calling and calling and calling. Two hours later a woman answers the phone and says that the truck was broken into and when they finished with the police they would be on their way. Three hours later Clayton calls to say he will be there at 9am this next morning, Now understand the pressure I am under as a move will do that but also my husband is fighting cancer and my sister had taken her life the week before. We are also senior citizens, Clayton was well aware of all of this. So the next morning he shows up 2 hours late with two other men and a woman and they begin moving boxes. Instead of carrying the boxes, they are sliding them across the concrete once they get down the stairs tearing up the bottoms. One hour into the move I hear a crash and moments later the two men come up to tell me Clayton had to leave and he would call me. I went down stairs and the entire box of my china was shattered. I then look at the truck and the window is shattered and glass is all over the ground. I asked the guys what happened and they said they did not know as they were up stairs wit me. They then got in the truck and drove off with my stuff. I called the police and Clayton both. The police ran his name and tols me he had a history of domestic violence. Clayton then calls and ask me to please don't call the police and he would finish the move in the morning and pay the extra day rent that I would be charged. The next morning Clayton calls and says he is not going to do the move. The stairs and the weight of the boxes were too much for he and his workers. My husband said bring my stuff back now and bring it back up to the apartment. He refused. Luckily my family knows of Claytons family and what a fine business man his grandfather was. So they call him and get him to bring the stuff back and load it into a uhaul. He had to be reassured the police were not there. He returned 3 hours later and told me he did not want my kitchen shit, had he not gone thru my boxes he would not have know it was kitchen stuff. hmm? Never ever use this man for anything!!!!Shame on you taking advantage of people. Items broken: Utensil holder, Chef cookie jar, My mothers full set china, crystal cake plate ,antique cake plate, grandmothers passover plate, hand painted platter, stone ware baker, glass coffee table, glass sofa table. Keurig coffee maker, We have photos and taking it to court. Oh we pulled the camera feed from the glass in truck getting broken, According to Clayton a man held him up at gun point, the footage shows the glass being broken from the inside and then a women jumping out of the truck and Clayton chasing her. read more

Scheduled a moving with these guys using the number provided. When it came to the date of the move I was supposed to have 3 guys and a truck come. No one came and when I started calling once they were late they were 100% unresponsive. Phone went straight to voicemail, no response to text or email either. I waited a few days after leaving all my messages to see if they would at least reach out and apologize and nothing. They just no called no showed and did not care. I am usually fair and don't like leaving bad reviews as this is people's business and lives. But they screwed me over with no remorse. I won't bore you with the details, but I would like everyone to know if you are considering Contra Costa Moving, that Clayton & crew are THE BEST! You name it they checked all our boxes. HONEST: Clayton discussed in great detail what my mom had to pack. Clayton assessed the job and quoted my mother a cost he stayed on point with. Never wavering. RELIABLE: Clayton and his crew showed up the day before the move to pack up and WOW - what a top-notch job. Everything was so well padded and taped, my mom felt like all her belongings were treated as if they were imported from Italy. They were there when they said they would and they handled business. REASSURING: I was not able to be there the day my mom was loading up to move. My mom called me to tell that Clayton put her mind at ease and she felt she was in such good hands and raved about how good of a person he was. That not only took a load off her mind, but it also took a huge load off of mine so I could get things ready once they arrived at their final destination. ADAPTABLE: It's never fun moving but yesterday it felt like we were all a team for the day. We all were in sync working together as if we had worked together for years. GOING THE EXTRA MILE: Clayton and his crew loaded my mom's car up for her so she didn't have to lift a finger. They moved a last-minute chair idea from the garage to the living room. The chair was white, I heard Clayton tell his crew "let's wash our hands before we move the chair". At that moment I remembered a time when I had other movers move my white couch and they left black handprints on the couch. I felt impressed by his level of consciousness once again. It may seem small to some but it was huge to me. Clayton also checked in with my mom when we went to our second d/o location and made sure she was happy with all her belongings and their locations. Keeping some things wrapped, some things unwrapped and other things easily at her disposal. This was our 4th time moving in the past 4 years. We had been renting, and finally pulled the trigger and bought a house! We used 2 different movers the other 3 times. The first company was good, and we used them again, although their price for the second move was higher than we expected. We called them for the third move, and they were higher still! They did a good job the previous 2 times, but we didn't want to spend the kind of money they were asking. We ended up going with another company: nice guys, but slow. They seemed to be on their phones a bunch, and they arrived late. The 4th move led us to Contra Costa Moving & Packing. Clayton (the owner) came out and gave us a couple pricing options: hourly or an estimated flat rate. Both were very reasonable, and we chose the hourly rate. He scheduled us for a 9am appointment and showed up AT 9am. He immediately had his crew start on the boxes we had staged, while he and I did a walk through of the house. He brought moving blankets, TV boxes, dollys, etc; very well prepared. At no point was anyone standing around. At no point was anyone texting or on their phone. Seeing the actual owner of the company moving furniture and giving direction was a huge plus. Typically, with moving companies, you might meet or talk to the owner once or twice, and never hear from them again, until it's time to settle up. Clayton was there the entire time! The whole move took less time and cost lest money than the three moves preceding it. He even brought to our attention a scratch that he thought he caused in a dresser (he hadn't, it was already there) AND offered to fix it for us. We let him know that it was a preexisting issues, and not his responsibility... he STILL offered to fix it. They ended up moving a 1200 square foot house 8 miles in 4 hours. All in all, this is a solid company that I will absolutely use again. I highly recommend them. Even if they were more expensive, I would use them again. Price/experience/work: all five stars. My dislike is that I was given a "flat rate" quote price and then told once they arrived and began working that the price i was given was a base price. I was also not informed of the charge for shrink wrap etc. Again the job was done well but I highly suggest getting a detailed invoice with a good breakdown if you choose this company. They carefully padded and shrink-wrapped items before loading them into the truck, consulting with us about items that might need special handling.
