JC was very responsive. Happily changed the date to meet our evolving target. His crew showed up on time and spent over 10 hours moving us from our old home to the new home. The crew members were polite, efficient and excellent with dismantling and re-assembling beds, furniture etc. They moved a really heavy marble table too! The best part was that JC worked with us on how to get the best value with the number of crew and trucks so that we could get it all done in one day. The good starts out with the bad-- I had booked JC Movers a week before our move, and on the day of the move the hour window for movers to arrive had passed. I emailed and called the number for JC in the email several times before calling this Yelp phone number in order to contact JC. It turned out we were accidentally canceled, JC was very apologetic and gave us a discount. So the positive in this was that JC apologized for his mistake! I would have left it at that but... The bad: 1. The lead mover was quite grumpy, when I would tell him where boxes or things could go in the house he replied "Yes I wasn't going to ask you". 2. The movers chipped our stairway railing, which would have been okay except they didn't tell us about it. 3. Several bags were forgotten in the truck on the day of the move and one of the movers returned unexpectedly the next day. I appreciate him returning, but it makes us question if anything else was left in the van and overall seems quite unprofessional. All in all, not a great experience with JC Express Movers. This is hard to believe but true. These movers came to my home and I had booked a MOVE OUT MOVE and told them the day of that "this is a move out move, everyone out of the house because I am selling". They left 3 full closets of stuff behind (which meant when the painter came one closet in the primary bedrpom couldn't be painted) and they left multiple drawers in the kitchen full of stuff. When I called them to tell them, the owner literally said to me "did you tell them to empty the closets and drawers?" so if this is the kind of crappy service you're into and then being blamed for the movers not moving all your items when you're moving out of your home, then this is your company. Also the movers arrived with NO boxes, tape or paper. What kind of movers don't bring moving and packing items? Zero stars. Do not use. read more

The one thing I find hard to believe is that none of the movers seem to take my estimate seriously. Based on my last move, I knew that all my boxes would take up a space of approximately 5' x 5' x 7' plus one piece of furniture. I used the Yelp project feature and I must say so far It's turned out really well. I get responses quickly and thoroughly. The number of responses is usually large enough that I find it almost overwhelming. I chose JC Express based on a combination of availability, cost and distance from their location to the move site. Several of the movers were located far enough that transit time started to add up. I got several really meticulous quotes and I found JC Express Movers quote to be very accurate. The one thing that was hard for me to estimate was the number of hours required for the total move. In the end it didn't matter because they moved me in less than three hours. Our friends highly recommended this moving company. We booked them far in advanced for our move date. The Wednesday before the move they ask us to switch days. We did agree, then they came back and said our date worked. Moving day arrives and the crew showed up. They had a smaller moving truck and we're shocked the amount of stuff we had. Mind you the owner came out and reviewed our household and was aware of the amount of stuff. They had to make two loads, and we were paying per hour. They damaged up walls at both houses and we're extremely rude. The lead mover made snide comments about our staircase. They were a lot less in cost than other quotes but again you get what you pay for. I'd only use them for a small move. Update: the owner has been very responsive in fixing the issues. This is the second time we've used JC Express Movers. We bought a new home and they helped us move all our belongings from our old house to our new house this last weekend. We had 4 of their guys helping us. They took a lot of care of wrapping and protecting all our furniture. They were fast and efficient. We were able to book them with only a few days advance notice, and the total price was very close to what we were quoted. We've used JC Express Movers twice over the last 5 years and both times have been stellar. The most recent time, we're moving out of state and needed help loading a 26' U-Haul. 4 guys showed up and they are pros at what they do. We had bought moving blankets and wrapped furniture ourselves, however, they were great about calling out certain pieces where the protection wasn't enough, particularly around glass and advised to use cardboard to further wrap them to protect them while in transport. They were very careful moving things out of the house to avoid damaging both the furniture and the house itself like walls and door trims. What was really amazing is their expertise at packing the truck. It was like a puzzle where they built layers of walls and anchor them with straps. Everything was packed extremely well and when we got to our destination 600 miles away, nothing was damaged. These guys are expert movers and know all the ins and outs. They are definitely a bit more on the expensive side, but it was worth the price for us. read more

Contacted this company for the second time to move my two bedroom apartment from Concord, California to Oakland California. My experience was off. I was a woman alone and there were three guys moving my apartment for over 8 hours that day, and I just felt kind of uncomfortable. I don't know how to explain it... the vibe was just off. I also witnessed the movers fighting with each other one guy was mad at the other two for making him do work while they rested. It was just completely unprofessional. On top of that after they were all done and had left (I already tipped them) I realized that they broke my 60 inch flatscreen a shelf in the closet of the house that I moved into and tracked dirt stains onto the carpet. What really threw me off was that they didn't say anything about the flat screen or the shelf in the closet and I could clearly see that they tried to put the shelf back and make it look like nothing had happened. Overall I paid them $1400 plus couple hundred tip and when I contact the company and told them about my flatscreen they said since I didn't plug it in for them they weren't liable. They eventually did reimburse me. I think 300 bucks but come on now. I couldn't get my same Sony 60 inch flatscreen for $300. I took it because what else was I gonna do, but I'm moving again, and I will say I'm not going to be going with them this time around too much of a headache. I do want to say that back in 2018 I used this company and they were amazing. They were efficient, professional and all-around great but Idk what happened since, then must be under new ownership or something. read more

We highly recommend JC Express Movers. We had three movers arrive on time, fully prepared with furniture padded covers, plastic wraps and numerous wardrobe boxes included in service. These guys moved over 50 boxes, plus heavy furniture from our 3 story townhouse (including basement) and up and down three flights of steep stairs. Very hard working, professional and friendly. They completed a long distance move from Walnut Creek, CA to our new home 1.5hrs north and 20mins passed Sacramento. They laid down runner rugs to cover floors and carpets before moving in boxes and furniture throughout our 3bedroom house. They also carefully placed items in garage and backyard. I've never seen the owner of a moving company working alongside his employees. I was impressed! The entire crew was amazing on both move out and move in day (2 separate days because this is a long distance move). Every single mover was fast, efficient, and worked hard! A nerve wracking part of every move is getting the final bill and hoping that it's fair and correct. When there was a discrepancy on the final bill, JC was fair and patiently went over the charges.
