My furnace wasn't working right. I'd never had service and didn't know who to call as there's almost 8 different stickers on my old system. So I asked my parents, without hesitation they say Control Tech. I'd remember seeing them come to my parent's house for regular maintenance. I called and was able to get someone out the next day. Marvin arrived and went to work. He recommended a simple fix by changing the filter that was plugged. He told me a dirty filter restricts air flow, making my unit work harder. He suggested getting on a service plan, which I quickly jumped on since I clearly cant keep up on my filter. Doing that saved me money?!?! He cleaned up the inside, did some other tests and made other suggestions. He recommended getting a quote since the system is over 20 years old and may need some parts in the future. I've got Matt coming out next week for a free estimate. Marvin explained my system to me, and what Matt might suggest for options. Marvin suggested ti me asking about a better filter thing with a new system due to my families allergies. I really appreciate my parents even more on how they took care of us without us even knowing it. And now I can do the same with my family thanks to Control Tech. I appreciate Marvin's time and helping save me money and possibly a headache down the road if and when my furnace died. We wouldn't trust our heating and cooling needs to anyone except Control Tech. They are locally owned and operated right here in Zionsville. They have been caring for our furnace and air conditioning for over 20 years. We purchased the annual maintenance program that provides regular cleaning and filter replacement for our system. They got us out of a pickle when our air conditioner died the day before my daughter's graduation. They installed a new system in time to keep our elderly visitors comfortable. Those acts of service, you appreciate and remember. We recently had a cooling issue and one of their serviceman came out and checked and cleaned the system. As always, he was friendly, professional and knowledgable. I was blown away that we were only charged $68 for the visit. Prices have always been fair and the work is top notch. Ian and Tabor to the rescue! On a Wednesday night, we noticed a flood of water spilling out from under our dishwasher, covering the kitchen floor and leaking through the basement ceiling. As we were frantically mopping up the water, trying to figure out what to do, and with no luck calling the few plumbers with emergency hours, we finally gave up and turned off all the water to the house ! --In the morning we called Control Tech, the company we have used for decades for HVAC, and more recently for plumbing (5 stars for those jobs). We hoped they would come and show us how to turn off the water to the dishwasher so we could turn it on for the rest of the house. --Kayla told us over the phone where we could find the shut-off valve under the kitchen sink, which we did--but we couldn't get it to budge. --so she arranged for Ian and Tabor to come help us out. They were able to come earlier than predicted, a relief right there, and Ian easily turned the valve for us, while Tabor turned the rest of the water on for the house. --They were willing to try to look into the dishwasher to see if there was a simple cause, but because the dishwasher still has an extended warranty & another company is coming next week to look at it (of course, they could not help us on our emergency!), they did not. --Ian and Tabor were professional, courteous, and very kind to a couple of rattled old people. --We highly recommend them and the plumbing division of Control Tech. read more

Do not use this company from Costco. I bought the air condition system from Costco and this company was installed. It have ten year warranty, but last year the heater was not working and call this company to check it. The tech was coming and found that blower was bad. Randy who is manager told me that I have to pay $356.25 to fix it even it still in warranty. Finally I did pay total $356.25 to them. The weird things I received a bill after NINE month and said that I have to pay another $99 for travel fee that time. Beware to buy or repair from this company read more

Had them come out to look at the installation by another company and try and figure out why our electric bill was so high.. within 45 minutes, the tech was able to figure out the previous company never turned on our new heat pump and was able to configure the system perfectly... We had a Heat and air system put in to our home for Lots of Money! It is over sized so it is not getting the humidity out of the home. So I called them after having 2 out Heat and Air guys confirming this was true. So they come in and price a dehumidifier on the phone $2500 then arrive at the home only to say it will be $3600 and the installer that put my A/C unit in is no longer with the company! Hello you need to stand behind your work. Buyer beware! If the A/C Unit is not doing its job then buy another unit from us over priced to fix what we did wrong?? read more

We started using Control Tech this Summer when we moved into a new home. The service has been outstanding. The techs are prompt, professional, and friendly. Our furnace quit working as it was starting to get cold. There was a tech at my house in 15 minutes and worked over 2 hours to make sure my furnace would continue to work. We then made the decision our furnace needed to be replaced and had a whole new HVAC system installed and up and running within 4 days. We heard a strange noise coming from our air conditioner and Control Tech was able to to come to our house with in a few days. It was determined that a pricey fix was needed on a 21 year old unit, thus needing a new air conditioner. Four days later the unit was installed--an eight hour job! Very pleased with the speed, professionalism and knowledge of the entire crew. I am selling my house and the inspector for the buyer noticed that the heating coils in the furnace unit were not turning on to activate the auxilliary heat in the heat pump. I called ControlTech to come repair the unit. The repair technician came out, took a look at the unit, couldn't find a serial number or manufacturer for the heater pack assembly, called to try to find parts for it (the thermal fuse link parts were blown/melted), and was told by his office that the parts were no longer available. He then informed me that my only option was to purchase a new heater pack unit for $805.25. I knew that the furnace had been installed 3 years ago and I found it hard to believe that there were no parts available for the heater pack and that he was unable to find a serial number or manufacturer of the unit. i asked the tech if he could give me any information on the heater pack unit or the parts that were bad and he handed me a sticker that he had found that had Warren Technology on it and two model numbers of heat pack units. The technician wrote up the estimate for the new heater pack and left me with that while I decided what to do. I ended up taking the furnace apart myself, figured out what part was the heater pack, removed it, and then saw the three thermal fuse links which were bad. I then went to the Warren Technology website, found a number to call and talked to a customer service representative. He told me that sometimes their manufacturer sticker with the model and serial # are on the circuit breaker box that is installed with the heater pack - I looked on it and sure enough it was there with the manufacturer name, model #, and serial # - facing front on the furnace and pretty easy to see. I gave him the serial # and he said it had been installed 3 years ago and that it was under a 5 year warranty. He also told me that there are replacement parts readily available for the fuse links and they are $2.75 each!! It turns out that the fuse links are not covered by the warranty but with them being only $2.75 each that is not bad. So, my issue is that I had a firm come out to my house who was supposedly an expert in the HVAC business to look at my furnace and tell me what was wrong and fix it. They told me what was wrong, but then told me that no replacement parts were available and tried to sell me an $805.00 part that I didn't need. If I was not savvy enough to go in and take the thing apart myself, call the manufacturer and figure out that parts were available, I would have spent $800 that I didn't need to spend. I called ControlTech back, explained the situation to their manager, and he insisted that they did nothing wrong and in fact had done their job - found the issue, and recommended a solution to my problem which in my mind was to sell me something I didn't need. I requested that I not be charged for the service call at all since I ended up doing their job for them in finding that parts were available and calling the manufacturer. The manager stated that it was their distributor who told them that parts were not available and that they had no responsibility for that fact. I consider this to be bad business - if i was a reputable HVAC firm I would make sure that I researched every angle before I told a customer that they needed to spend $805.00 on a replacement part. Instead they asked 1 distributor, didn't make the effort to really find the model and serial number of the heater pack that I had in the furnace (which I was able to find in about 5 minutes), and then insist that they did their job. I spoke to the owner of the company this morning, I explained the situation and requested a refund of the $89.00 service fee and he refused and said they had done their job. In the end, I ended up going out to the Warren Technology website after speaking with the customer service representative who gave me the part # that I needed to replace and ordered 3 fuse links and I will end up replacing them myself. The total cost for the parts ended up being a little over $8.00 + $8.00 in shipping for about $16.00! read more
