I had possibly one of the worst experiences of customer care and support with Controlled Temperatures. I used them initially 4 years ago to install my Mitsubishi AC, and at that point I would have had no problem giving them a 3 or 4 star rating, although they after completing the main installation and 90% of the work, it took me several calls to get them to come and 'finish' the job, such as caulking around the units and hiding exterior cables which was part of the job as agreed in the contract. However, the latest experience has left me disgusted at the lack of care following a complete failure of my Mitsubishi AC units in the middle of summer, leaving me to conclude that they really only care about the main sale and not about customer care and support afterwards. They came out to check the system and after 2 hours told me that they couldn't figure out what the problem was and needed to call Mitsubishi Tech Support so would need to come back another day when they were open. Well, I was surprised at this as their website claims they are a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor, and since they installed them, you'd expect they would understand most issues when it comes to system failure. I agreed to have them come back and waited for their call to arrange this... and waited... and waited... I eventually called them and made it clear that I was a little annoyed they didn't seem to care about following up and that I was charged a substantial fee for them to tell me they don't know how to fix the machines they installed. The woman on the phone was VERY rude and seemed to want to get into an argument with me - I just asked her to please send somebody to fix the issue as promised so we can get this over. Somebody came by again that afternoon and worked outside although i didn't hear much work going on or see much of them. 3 hours later he knocked on the door and said he's been on hold with Mitsubishi Tech Support waiting for them to pick up and the issue is still not fixed. WOW! How can these guys claim to be experts with this system yet need to wait for step-by-step tutorial over the phone on troubleshooting. I called Mitsubishi myself and got through in 25 mins - they explained that the on-site technician should just press 1 if he can't get through and they will get a call back from a Mitsubishi technician who will explain how to fix the issue or where to get the info from so that they can return at a more suitable time armed with the required knowledge to fix the issue - Mitsubishi seemed amazed that somebody would sit on hold for 3 hours and that there was no sense to this. To be honest, the guy here was very polite but if this is standard procedure at Controlled Temperatures then they are wasting their time and the customers' time and money. It makes no sense. Mitsubishi also told me that it sound as though the issue was a fairly common 'Communication Error' and that the fix should be fairly straightforward - Controlled Temperatures should have access to the solution and they could have been directed to them if only they had requested a call back from Mitsubishi. I was promised a call from Controlled Temperatures to come back and fix this once and for all once they found the solution.. I've waited over a week, no call. I've given up and will look for another, more reliable contractor. Oh, and Mitsubishi said that Cont. Temperatures are not actually on their list of recognized contractors in the area! read more

Beware of warranty claims on their contracts/proposals. It is not what is written. Some of their techs are great and some are disasters. Larry is great. Chris is great with ductwork. Anyone else is a crapshoot. Techs they recently sent decided to tour our finished basement with their muddy boots, leaving dirty footprints through out the carpet. Not exactly pros. We are switching to Gault and recommend others do the same. read more

The My furnace died over the holidays. Since my furnance is newer I wanted to use a Trane Servicer. I called up almost every Trane Servicer in CT and left messages. I wanted to have an appointment for right after the holidays so I wouldn't have to pay holiday pay. One company I called did answer immediately and I was going to use them until they told me that they had to take a deposit of $300 to book the appointment. I asked what would happen if I didn't spend the full $300, would I get the remaining money back. The girl said yes but it may take some time. It sounded like a scam to me so I declined to make the appointment. It is a good thing that I didnt make it. Jennifer from Controlled Temperatures called me back to set up an appointment. She went over their fee schedule. They do charge hourly and the rates are consistent with going rates for similar companies and they accept both checks and credit cards. My appointment was set up for the next day between 8 and 9 in the morning. Jennifer was very professional and helpful. The next morning at 8:15, Craig arrived. Love Craig, his appearance was professional, he had a sweatshirt with the company name on it. I live in a condo and many people park in the middle of the street and are too lazy to park in the visitor parking 20 feet from my unit. Craig, parked in the visitor parking, I did not have to ask him, he did it before I even saw him (scored brownie points for that- its my pet peeve). Craig came to the door, he was polite and professional. I told him the problem, showed him where everything was. He went to work immediately. He diagnosed the problem, told me what was wrong, told me how he was going to fix it and fixed it. He changed my filter, which was a small additional charge and completed everything within an hour. Craig explained that with a credit card payment he has to write down the information on the receipt and some people don't like that. I told Craig that if he were not honest, he would have found a way to give me a higher bill (he could have found things wrong and I wouldn't have known ), he didn't so I trust him with my credit card information. I do plan on using Craig again (he told me I could request him-I will). Nothing but good things to say about Craig, Jennifer and Controlled Temperatures. read more
