The food was horrible.. it was 2:15am and I was getting a burger for me and Onion Rings for a friend who has never ate there before. Well i come home and with complete surprise i opened the box of food to show & give my friend good order of Onion Rings. That's when I saw there was only 5 Onion rings with maybe 12 to 15 fries in the whole box.. That was supposed too be 12$ worth including my burger witch I'm kinda scared to touch fr. I know I heard the woman at the Rings tell the cook to do Onion Rings and a order of fries. SO I NOW WONDER IF I WAS GIVING SOMEONE'S OLD FOOD THROWN IN A BOX & SENT OUT THE WINDOWS TO ME...???? It's literally always disappointing, like you get less than what you pay for. If you want to laugh, order quesadilla sauce and look at what that much money gets you. Consistently outstanding and open late. I discovered Cook Out when I lived in NC and I am delighted they have come to WV.

Some items are being skimped on. For example, the cheese bit order comes with no more than 5 total cheese bites. Also, sauces are being skimped on. The burgers have downsized. That's the biggest complaints and if there were improvements, Cookout would be on a higher pedestal. read more

I'm a big fan of Cook Out, and this location is no exception. Where else can you get away with a filling meal for around $5, and even sub in a shake if you're not in the mood for a drink? If you're in the mood for a great meal at an affordable price, drop by here. That being said, this location is not used to high volume, and their speed shows it. Compared with other locations, they are a bit slow in processing customers, even with a well-designed split drive-thru. While they probably don't experience any "rushes" to justify the need to be super-quick, it would sure increase the frequency of my visits here if I knew I wouldn't have to sit in line for 10 minutes every time. TIP: If you order a tray (and let's be honest, you absolutely should), try to order items of defined quantity, aka order quesadillas, wraps, and burgers and not fries or hushpuppies. Why? Because they barely give you any of fries or hushpuppies in a tray, as they run out of room. Solution? Order those defined-number items in the tray, then order a SIDE of fries or hushpuppies so they end up in a separate bag, and then you get a bunch of them! Enjoy! Overall: 4.0 stars ---- Pros: - Excellent food, huge variety of available food items and drinks, including Cheerwine if you're into that. - Prices are quite literally unbeatable. No coupons, though. - Easy-to-access location and the lines are generally fairly short. - Interior appears clean, though I have never dined-in here. The atmosphere is supremely casual and the food is really cheap but really good. Honestly, what fast food chains should be. Not everything on the menu is good, but i have my favorites that i stick to and i'm not often disappointed. They also have Cheerwine and Cheerwine floats, which is a regional (Southern Appalachian) soda that people go crazy for around here because it's not very common. Giving this place a 4.. would be a 5 all day, but, I've had a couple burgers in the past that left a bad taste in my mouth as they were over-charred and dry... I know, I know... then why even give it a 4 star?!? Well, they've redeemed themselves with good burgers at times too. Not to mention, them piping hot cajun fries. They also do 99 cent 5-piece nuggets with polynesian sauce (how I like mine anyways). And let's never forget those shakes. Extremely cheap prices. Sometimes the food is beyond excellent, sometimes it is sub-par. I think their problem is that they try to be too quick and it kills the service and quality. Have never seen a fastfood restaurant this unorganized, after placing order inside was handed our beverage and not given an order number or asked for a name Only knew our order was ready after order taker shouted out an order description. Then had to wade thru a crowd of customers placing and waiting also. Wasn't offered any napkins or condiments so had to go back to counter to requet them. Even though the customer service is good, take a few seconds to, go through bag on your to go orders and drive up orders. *Edit: Since getting a new employee who takes the orders, our orders have been more accurate. Upgrading to a 4 because there have been some errors but overall it's a lot better than before. Food is always fresh.* My family and I like to eat out on Friday nights and we have enjoyed being able to eat here for under $20. With that being said we have been frustrated the past several times we have eaten here. Literally 3 out of the 4 total times we've been here. We go through the drive-thru and every single time something is wrong or missing. Tonight was the most recent mishap. I was compelled to go in this time because it is obviously quite apparent that following instructions and processing orders accurately is a consistent problem for the employees here. Tonight they had left the slaw off of my burger, and they added hot sauce to my daughter's barbecue sandwich. We were clear in requesting that the barbecue sandwich be prepared plain without sauce or slaw. After realizing this when my daughter complained that her sandwich was burning her mouth, I immediately go in to talk to the manager. I assume that is who I spoke with. I told him that this has become a habit when we have ordered here and he had the nerve to smile at me and offer no apology. He weakly nodded but without remorse or concern. First of all this is absolutely unprofessional! I have worked in managerial positions before and this is so far below adequate that it's ridiculous. Secondly, I handed him my ticket that was typed correctly by the person who took the order but obviously it was not executed correctly. He takes the barbecue sandwich and my burger to the back. Several minutes later another guy comes out and says they remade the barbecue sandwich (which obviously they had to because there was no way to get the hot sauce off). He hands me the burger that I brought in which is now cold, and says he put a side of slaw in the bag because it was the only item missing from the burger. This is also very unprofessional. The correct thing for them to do would be to remake my burger, instead of giving me back my cold burger and telling me to put my own slaw on it. The food is good when done correctly, unfortunately we have not had that experience more than once. Someone seriously needs to deal with the fact that people here cannot follow instructions. read more

I agree with many of the negative comments. Service and quality are mediocre. Customers are rushed through the order line with no attention to details. It's no wonder many complain of wrong orders. The floor was so slippery that we could barely walk, and the tables were dirty and greasy. They obviously hadn't been wiped down for awhile. The food prices are cheap, which I guess makes it a good option for struggling college students nearby. I'd rather spend a little more money on better service and food at places like Five Guys, Wendy's, Chipotle, Stewart's, etc. read more

Seriously thrilled to have this new joint in our area! Best milkshakes, not to mention biggest milkshake selection (40+ flavors!) in town! This was our 1st visit (of many, I'm sure!)--I had the Peanut Butter Banana shake, my husband had the Banana Pudding shake, & my mom had Egg Nog--all 3 were amazing! My only complaint on the shakes is that, while I like a creamy & fairly thick shake, these were so thick we had to use spoons which means they aren't the most travel-friendly. Also, the only reason I didn't give the place 5 stars was b/c the only table available when we arrived was by the side door, back by the restrooms...it's a 32 degree evening & a group of employees were in & out of that door bringing in a food delivery, so we had to eat with our coats on...is there not a service door??? Soooo, i am a college student at Marshall University and the go to place is ALWAYS Cook-Out. We always have fast, amazing service with even better food. I went Sunday night and had to not only sit in line for over 20 minutes, but then when I got home i realized they messed up my ENTIRE order. They gave me the wrong sandwich and quesadilla. I called as soon as i got home and didn't get an answer. i called the whole next day and they finally answered after almost 24 hours. The manager, Elliott, told me he couldn't refund or replace anything unless i had my receipt, but they didn't even give me one. I just think it is ridiculous that i give you my money, you get my whole order wrong, not just something small, and then don't even do anything for it.
