One star is being generous. I don't eat hamburgers often, but on occasion I like a good juicy cheeseburger the way I remember them from when I was a kid. It's a special event for me. I when up to the counter and placed my order. In my mind what I was asking for was simple to prepare. The way they work you place your order and go set down & they bring it to you. There was 4 in our party. I had ordered a double cheeseburger, a slice of onion, a slice of tomato and some mayonnaise on the side. The first cheeseburger they bring me is a double cheeseburger with mustard ketchup pickle lettuce and tomato. I sent it back. The second cheeseburger has onion and tomato mayonnaise packets but is only a Single. The third cheeseburger is double meat and cheese but the patties look to be extremely well done. It has tomato and lettuce but no onion. Everyone else in our party is finishing their meal and I decide to just give up on it. My fries are cold. My wife had ordered onion rings and she got 4. All are small and one about quarter size. We Just decided never to come back. read more

For the price and the variety of food you can get, I'm a fan! Good chicken tenders, burgers, and fries. Not my favorite onion rings, but I think the quality of those are hit or miss based on the day. It's very busy there most times because it's near KSU and the food is super cheap, but I think it's totally worth going if you just want to pick up something under $10 that's tasty. Decided to see what the hype was about and it's literally down the street from me. So I went through the drive in. There's a menu to look and order at another menu. The menu is huge. I chose the $4.99 combo. Pick your main and 2 sides and a drink. I got the burger with onion rings and fries and water. Now she asked what did I want on it? I told her it was my 1st time. She went down the list of add ons without any attitude. I got mayo and cheese. The only thing I didn't like was that my food did not come in a bag and they had my debit card on top. It felt a little rushed. So onto the food. The food was hot, the fries were seasoned and the burger was yummy. It has that home bbq feel to eat. Not bad for 5.17 with tax. Staff is great!! I had a minor issue with my order. It was so minor I barely even cared, however my wife casually mentioned the issue to the manager when she came around and asked us how everything was. She was apologetic and she refunded our meal. When we told her we weren't interested in a refund or a free meal she said she was refunding our meal it was because it's her policy that every customer enjoy their meal or else she refunds their money. I mean they do give you a ridiculous amount of food for the same price as any other fast food place, but you can tell (while super unhealthy) it's at the very least real. I have gone through the drive-thur numerous times only to get home and discover that either I am missing an item that I paid for or that I received a totally different item. On my last visit, I left work early so that I could get something to eat from here, being that is was 3am on a Sunday. When I tried to place an order I was told they were closed....35 mins early. Food still similar, tho slaw not as good, but inspection use to always be 100 and now 93. The big issue was the server at the window who gave me the wrong change. I've been hearing so much about this "Cook-Out" from friends and coworkers of mine. From what I've heard, it's basically just another burger joint (seems like they're popping out everywhere). Anyways, the hype of Cook-out from what I heard is located nearby Georgia Tech. While I am unfamiliar with where it is located at, apparently I heard that there was ANOTHER Cook-Out in Marietta, GA. It is conveniently located near Kennesaw State University, so I'm pretty sure all the Kennesaw students have a burger joint to go to. When you enter inside, you're going to see a lot of Kennesaw State Flairs hanging all over the place. Anyways. one of the biggest deal that everyone's been talking about is the "Cook-Out" Tray which consists of three choices for the price of $5 as you go along. The first choice is a burger, which ranges to a 1/4th Hamburger to Spicy Cajun Chicken Sandwich. I'm not going to lie, the burger is a little small. It's like the size of my left hand. It gets a little soggy after you leave it inside it's foil wrapper for awhile so eat it while it's still good-looking! Your second choice is your standard fries, coleslaw, corn dogs, quesadilla, hushpuppies, etc. I can't remember the rest, haha. You get two sides for the second choice so that was something that I like about. Your last choice is, of course, the drink. You can get a large drink, a bottle water, some brand soda I've never heard of, OR you can add $1.00 for a slushie, from what i heard is apparently "good"? I've yet to try it out, so maybe next time I come back to any of the Cook-Out locations. One more thing, if you plan to pay with card. They only accept Visa and Mastercard.. As a college student here in Kennesaw, cheap = good for me. This place is awesome. Their combos are fantastic! And all for $5. A burger/chicken sandwhich/etc as the main, CHICKEN NUGGETS/a quesadilla/fries/corndogs/etc as SIDES, (no joke) and a drink or milkshake (which are wonderful by the way. If you get a fruit one or an oreo one, you get giant chunks of fruit or oreo.) You get what you pay for, so obviously don't expect an amazing 5 star burger and fries when you're only paying $5 or less. It's fast, cheap, and tastes good. Plus, they're open until 5:00AM. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because if you don't specifically ask for regular sliced cheddar cheese on your burger, you get this nasty nacho cheese stuff on it. I have eaten here a hand full of times. I've tried the chicken tenders once before and was not impressed at all. The batter was fried extremely hard that I threw them away hungry and upset. I decided to give it another try. I ordered the tray with the chicken tenders and corn dogs. No complaints about the corn dogs but the chicken tenders are worst than they were the first time. Why are they fried to hard? I am so disgusted because grabbing a quick bite after working 12 hours to come home with hard tenders that can't and won't be eaten makes me so mad. I just wanted to put this out there because this is a great restaurant that has awesome food. Granted, we have had a few encounters with unfriendly staff but some of that is to be expected when you have a restaurant that is so busy that on an average day the drive through line is wrapped around the building and parking lot full. We came from NC and when we got to GA this place had no clue about real food. Eventhough what I am about to say may be irrelevant to Cookout when we first came here 9 years ago nobody knew what tiramisu was, even at places that claimed to be "italian" restaurants. When we finally found a place that served it, it was about a month from being removed from the menu because the waitress informed us that basically the local customers pallet found it undesirable. Ive also heard this from other authentic restaurants claiming to be from other cities that cant even stay true to their brand and quality for having to "dumb down" and Georgianize (flatten flavor) their words. Not only that but their understanding of southern soul food is non-existant ie husband had a hankerin for banana pudding and we searched high and lo for "authentic" southern food. We read great reviews about pig n chick..upon ordering and receiving the banana pudding i opened the tray to reveal a JELLO MADE BANANA PUDDING WITH EFFING MOONPIE CHUNKS in it. These same people who claim this type of fu**ery is normal are the same people writing bad reviews on businesses such as Cookout. This place is the MOST authentic southern bbq style restaurant here in GA. If your tastebuds disagree, then go to McDonalds. With regards to price they dont feel the need to price gauge, that doesnt mean they skimp on quality or portions. For 4.99 you get a choice of a sandwich (many to choose from) with 2 sides (choices range from hush puppies to quesadillas etc) and a drink or you can substitute the drink for $1 more for a custom handmade milkshake with just about any ingredient you can imagine. I understand that looking at options may fry the brains of these peonces but what do you expect from people that like the Varsity. As a red blooded American i am embarrassed that the Varsity has been suggested and fed to several of our former Presidents, it should be considered attempted assasination. The first time I walked into the Kennesaw location, I was instantly greeted by a log cabin style interior which was awesome. The customer service was great, the employees moved things along very quickly even for a weekend. I got the combo deal, and it came with more than enough food. You can sub a milkshake and I definitely recommend the cheesecake ones. Everything was perfect and not like the usual fast food/chains at all. I personally have only been there twice but I like this cookout a lot more than the Atlanta one. read more

I got the double cheddar style combo with onion rings and coleslaw. The portion size was a bit small and I can see how people could still be hungry after eating a combo. I only received like four regular size onion rings and a tiny thing of slaw. They were both good, but the rings were a tad on the cold side. I was happy to have Cheerwine to drink - so good!! The main reason I would encourage anyone to come here is just to have good amount of food for low prices. Fried chicken sandwich is my favorite. Crust is tasty and chicken is tender. Cajun chicken is pretty good if you like your food a little bit spicy. When you come to a fast food restaurant, you should not be expecting consistency in general but I think I have been to this location more than 5 times and it has been consistent. The manager of this branch was nice and helpful the first time I met him. He cares about the quality and proud of their prices and menu. Cook Out is so great for college students like myself. It's cheap and actually fills me up! I always get the cook out tray with a chicken finger sandwich and double hushpuppies. Most people say hushpuppies at cook out? Yes! They are sooo good and I recommend them to everyone! The reason for 4 stars is because it's always packed when college is in! An forking is horrible. Perhaps not the end all be all but not a bad burger at all. Burger was well dressed quality tasting meat. Negative was someone was squeeziing one more slice from the top of a tomato resulting in something less than appealing.
