The staff are not polite and 3 times in a row my order was completely wrong. I didn't find out my order was wrong until I got home or work and it was too late to go back. I let the first two times go bc I didn't check my order before I left (kind of hard to do when there's a huge line and nowhere to park the car while looking) but after the third time I went the next day and told them about all three times. Only one out of about 4 people I spoke to about this was somewhat friendly. On top of that, I know about 4/5 people who have gotten very very sick after eating there. Step it up cookout!! We need you guys!! You're the only "good thing" open after midnight!! Yes, I still go there bc it's the only thing open drive through when I get off work, but they need to get better at being friendly and getting orders correct!! Cookout, you're always there for me. When I'm hungry and need crazy-cheap eats - you're there - and that's why I love you. Sure. There was that one time you forgot to give me my cajun-seasoned fries. And you use way too much packaging (that styrofoam's gotta go baby). But, you know what?... Your burgers are delicious and smokey, your nuggets crispy and savory. The guy at the counter was helpful in suggesting the "tray" option which is basically the "meal" version of this place. What $10 got me: regular sized cook-out style burger, cook-out style hot dog, a peanut butter fudge milkshake, a side of nuggets (4), and a side of hushpuppies (8). Not bad at all. My friend Evan's sales pitch for Cookout is simply "A corn dog is a side!" In fact, at the Cookout, a corn dog is considered a side item. This location is open REALLY late (4am on weekends I believe) and serves hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, and milkshakes to the drunken masses. They have two drive-thru's attached to the restaurant (which itself is the size of maybe 8 parking spaces) and they usually have a line wrapped around the building both in cars and on foot after 2am every Friday and Saturday. If you go I recommend buying a "platter" where you choose two sides. In general, I try to avoid fast food. Heavens only know what Cook Out puts in their food. It does seem less plastic-y than McDonald's, but I've never asked for an ingredient list. Like all of the Cook-out locations in the area, this haven of delectability will give you a quick, inexpensive meal that is miles beyond any other fast food joint, even into the wee hours of the morning. Unlike most other locations, this one is right in the heart of Wolfpack country, just a couple of blocks from campus and is pretty much always busy. Even with the crowds, though, this Cook-out has consistently had the fastest service in my experience. Both drive-through lanes are generally 3-4 cars deep, but you'll almost never wait more than 5 minutes from pull-up to drive-off. The quality is on par with the other locations I've tried: fresh and hot. As busy as this place gets, they couldn't let food sit around if they wanted to. No matter your age, coming to this particular Cook-out late night will always get you something extra with your delicious pile of artery-hardening goodness. If you're an NC State undergrad, show up around 2:30am and you'll probably leave with some new friends. If you're a 20- or 30-something who thinks you're hip because you were out til 2 at the martini lounge, you'll leave with a glaring reminder that you're not so young anymore. I have yet to have a bad one, but the watermelon, banana pudding and peach cobbler are my favorites.The only downside (or upside, really) is that there are no Cook-Outs in California, where we live.
