Prior to ordering from this location I was not a fan of Zaxby's. I placed an order for dinner and decided on a chicken tender plate, 2 orders of Tenders which were B1G1 Free, cheese bites & fried shrimp. Everything was very fresh, crispy and well enjoyed. When I first arrived to the Raleigh area, lo these many years ago, I had been excited to live in the world where I could have ready access to non KFC fried chicken. Not that I have anything against the Colonel but it truly didn't have much flavor. When I first tried Zaxby's I honestly thought it was some of the best chicken from a fast food place. The chicken seemed real, not frozen or processed. Not like any of the chicken you get at say any of the other major fast food chains. Sadly, since the epidemic, they have fallen low on the ladder of quality. The chicken is now so obviously frozen processed chicken....and worse than the flavorless chicken at KFC. Oh well. My waistline doesn't really *need* to frequent a fried chicken place so it isn't exactly a hard thing but still....so sad that yet another place has fallen in standards. read more

I ordered drive-through. I ordered 10 fingers with buffalo sauce. Then the question came do you want them coated or do you just want dipping sauce. I asked for coated. Then I got the price announced to me which was three dollars higher than the menu price. I questioned the three dollar difference. He told me if they coat them there's a fee for that or I can just get dipping sauce and it's the price on the menu. Check out the picture, I ordered the dipping sauce and got two little janky containers full of what appears to be and taste just like franks red hot sauce just like Hardee's does. It's alright enough. I'm pretty sure the prices were reasonable, but I didn't check. I only went in there for the free birthday meal, which was great because it was free. It really is your average Zaxby's. I went in, gave up my BD coupon and ordered the Cajun Club sandwich with fries and a drink. Did I mention it was free? Oh, and it was my birthday too. BOTH workers at the front counter, handling money, operating the cash register, and handing out the orders, were the SAME ones handling and getting our beverages, filling with ice, and dispensing the liquids, AND WERE NOT WEARING GLOVES HANDLING EDIBLE ITEMS!! Zaxby's a good fast food chicken option, similar to Chick-Fil-a. I like the tenders and the wings. The sandwiches are not my favorite due to the toppings options ( I'm kinda picky ). The service is quick. Most meals come with crinkle fries, which I'm sure are of the frozen variety but they're not bad. Fresh brewed tea and one of the fancy soda machines where you can pick many options. I love the ice - little cylindrical pellets. read more

I cannot tell you how impressed I am by the employees here. I think this is the third or fourth time I have come here. They are always friendly and the food has been consistently good. They are really paying attention to their customers and today one employee saved my bacon when I was juggling my tray and drink. He grabbed the tray just before the food fell off. Also today, one employee came out to check on me and called me by name! The best chicken strip in Raleigh! The chicken finger dinner comes with your choice of sauce (I recommend the Zaxby sauce) or a very tasty hot sauce, french fries and slaw. The sweet iced tea is really something as well, delicious! This zaxbys location is about par for the course. Nothing special but nothing terrible. I am a huge fan of the big zax snack meal. The location on Hillsborough St near the NC State campus actually had a student meal that was a little cheaper. I tend to go to this location after a round of golf in the afternoons and it is not very busy. In fact, I've never been to this location when it is busy. It is just off I540 so if you live in Brier Creek or North Raleigh it is quite accessible. read more

My friend recommended that I try the original chicken sandwich because it was "better than the Chick Fila", so I got two (one for myself and one for my girlfriend). We literally laughed when I unwrapped the first one because the piece of chicken was so small the bun was almost touching all the way around. The little piece in there was mostly bread and not crispy at all but the flavor was decent at least. I thought that I would try Zaxbys, as they are so close to where I live, and since we seem to find ourselves in these very strange times, all I wanted was something satisfying to eat. The review: I went twice, and each experience was utterly exasperating! The sandwiches were underwhelming, especially in size of the itty bitty pieces or piece of chicken (both Hardee's and Chick-fil-a, are consistantly twice the portion size). The first trip; the chicken in the sandwiches, was not only mostly breading, there was only one good piece of chicken, in one of the sandwiches. The Texas toast was disgustingly greasy on both. The fries were limp, barely cooked, and some hardly even that, though I asked for crispy fries. I also asked for sauce (two orders) and received just one. Second trip, hopefully it will be better... no! Fries were the same, even though I implored very politely when ordering, for crispy fries (I was hoping for cooked at least). I tried a different sandwich, and was similarly disappointed with not only quality, but with product itself. Covid-19 statement: where are their masks?! Especially the drive through window person. I was lucky enough to discover Zaxby's when I had to spend a week in Jacksonville Florida for work... Lucky for me I missed dinner, but the road that leads you from the airport has a Zaxby's on the right hand side... I am in Florida and I see a sign with a giant chicken on it annnnd I am hungry?? How can this go wrong?? I have been a fan ever since. Remember that first time you tried Chik-Fil-A and you thought... no way this is fast food, this is too good to be called anything but Great! This is the front runner for giving the folks with the Cows on their billboards a run for their money. "The Good" - The classic club sandwich combo. It uses three tenders for the chicken and I always ask for very little mayo so you do not get an over anxious assembler that will go crazy. - Sweet Tea and the free refills. - They are always trying new things on the menu to see if they are going to become permanent. This is good but can also go into the meh... as some of them need to be retired, but the fact that they try new stuff is why it is here, and not below. - They have the crinkle fries and if you ask them for a little crispy they will be much better. "The Meh" - They are regionally located in the South and I hope to see them spread North sometime soon. Even some out towards the middle would be nice ;). My Mom and I were going to grab some dinner and she suggested this place since we were both in the vicinity. Never having been to Zaxby's, and craving chicken tenders, it seemed like an easy decision. She said they were having some sort of birthday celebration special--and you know I like specials. It's more fast food-ish than I had pictured, complete with a drive-thru, but it was clean and had a nice outdoor eating area. It is a little hidden in the plaza, however. I did, in fact, get the "Celebration" Special--chicken tenders, fries, Texas toast, and a huggeee drink (which I promptly spilled all over myself and the counter/floor) for $5.99. The staff cheerfully cleaned it up, and I was back in business with another half gallon--or so it seemed--cup of sweet tea. Chicken and fries were crispy, hot, and hit the spot. The sweet tea was tasty and the Texas toast, which seemed a little bit overkill, was good. On the way out, I almost grabbed a birthday cake shake, but I decided I did enough damage for one day. What can I say besides I'm a fan of Zaxby's. I really like the salads because they are big enough to share. I usually will get wings or wings and things to go along with my salad. I make sure to ask for my wings to be done crispy and my fries to be fresh. The staff at this location is always friendly and very helpful which is a plus. read more

I never leave bad reviews, I am easy going but this was ridiculous! Ordered chicken strips and chips. When my number was called all there was was chicken. When I asked him about my chips this was his response "oh um I think they are coming". Sat down ate all my chicken still no chips. The workers where standing around talking. I went up asked about my Chips. The guy said I couldn't get a refund or chips without a receipt. Keep in mind we finished all our food and threw everything away. the guy who told me this TOOK my order 10 minutes earlier. Had to wait 10 minutes for this answer while watching a kid stick his middle finger at the security camera numerous times. Left without a refund and half my order. Will not be back.
