When multiple people tell you that everything at Cookout is delicious and fresh, believe them! In Maryland for a work conference, my coworker saw that Cookout is around the corner from where we're staying. I was thrilled because the closest one to me back home is 40 minutes away. It was late when we got from our day trip, but I knew I had to at least have a milkshake before opting for a full meal the next day. I was blown away by the size of the menu (especially the shakes), and how much food you can get at such a reasonable price! I opted for the Peach Cobbler milkshake because it's such a unique flavor. I appreciated the quantity of peaches and cobbler bits in the shake, but it was lacking that sweet, peach flavor I'm used to. The next day I brought another conference attendee with me so we both could try a meal for the first time. I went with a tray, picking a cheeseburger, fries, nuggets, and a strawberry cheesecake milkshake. If I closed my eyes and took a sip of the shake, I could immediately tell you what flavor it was. They nailed it perfectly. The burger and nuggets were some of the freshest I've ever had at a fast food restaurant, and the patty was pretty thick as well. i wanted to cry eating at this location. not tears of sorrow, but tears of absolute glee and triumph. Let's talk about the prices here. These prices are what true Americans reminisce about, the tray combo price is insane for the sheer quantity and quality of food. These food prices are a recession indicator, if these go up in Salisbury, Maryland - riots and civil war is nearing. I would give up my arms for this place to stay the same. Is the food necessarily healthy for you to eat frequently? no - but I for one embellish in what life has to offer every now and then and id suggest you too in this mortal realm. I think almost everything on the menu is fried and that's okay. The only thing I would make people aware of is the somewhat relaxed service pace - the staff takes their time but are in no regards rude. I usually enjoy Cook Out, but this visit was a huge disappointment. As soon as we walked in, the floor was visibly dirty, and it didn't look like it had been swept or mopped in a while. After ordering, we went to sit down and noticed that every table was dirty. There were crumbs, spills, and sticky spots everywhere. When our food came out, it was clear it hadn't been freshly made. The bacon was undercooked, and the rest of the food just tasted old and reheated, not fresh off the grill like it should be. It was honestly pretty unappetizing. The only positive note was the staff. They were polite, courteous, and professional even though the rest of the experience really missed the mark. Unfortunately, between the dirty dining area and the low-quality food, this was not a meal I'll be repeating. Great Burgers Stopped here because I was in Salisbury for something else and wanted a good burger...in the end I was not disappointed. Had the cheddar burger with fries. Excellent burger and fries, which were hot when I got them, and very tasty. Had a chocolate shake on the side. All great. You order at the front and you pay, much like a Shake Shack. Except you wait for your order to be ready - they give you a number. This Cook Out is right next to Salisbury U so as expected is frequented by college students. Which I think is pretty cool. When I got home, I realized they gave me about a tablespoon of coleslaw, it didn't even fill up half of the little cup they put it in. Got the cookout tray which was an entree, 2 sides, and a drink. It was quite a lot of food for $5.25 because some of the sides you could pick from were another entree in itself if you ask me. I got the double burger, onion rings, and a bacon wrap. The onion rings were basic and the bacon wrap was just ok but the burger was the bomb.com. It tasted like a charred burger off a backyard grill on a summer's day. The cherry on top for me was the Cheerwine soda, which just so happens to be cherry flavored. The meal ended on a high note but then I went and looked a gifted horse in the mouth by using the restroom on the way out. They were filty! This was my first ever visit to Cookout. I only learned about it from a youtube channel called the Korean Englishmen. Even though I had looked at the menu online it was very overwhelming in person. Fortunately the very nice and kind people that worked there were able to guide me through this maze. I ordered a cheddar style double, my only complaint was the bacon was not crispy. But that is a chance you take no matter where you order this. I just removed it and enjoyed the burger, I also ordered Cajun Fries. Now these were very tasty. The seasoning was very nice. I also ordered Onion Rings and for real onion rings these were very good. Probably some of the best i have eaten in years. Now the hidden treasure, the Hush Puppies, These were remarkable. And if you ask for their sauce and use it with the onion rings and the hush puppies it is a game changer. The place was very clean, and the staff was very efficient. My order was ready in no time. The food here is decent bbq-style fast food, and the service at the drive-thru was fast and good. The prices are the real kicker here... for $7 we got a bottle of water, a side of hush puppies (very good, my GF who loves HPs was all about them), and a bbq box (pork BBQ, hush puppies, coleslaw, and fries). It was more than enough food for the two of us, and you really can't beat $7! I ordered the bbq sandwich and was shocked to find the meat was some powdery looking substance that tasted like it was rotting. There was absolutely no hint of bbq flavor. I turned around and took it back and replaced with a Cajun chicken sandwich. They served it to me in under a minute which means it was just nuked right there. One bite into it, I realized why I've heard the term "rubber chicken." It actually tastes like rubber. I spit it out and gave up. I'm not sure why this place has food service license.
