I deeply regret taking my 4-year-old daughter here for a haircut. Her beautiful, long, thick hair was butchered into an uneven, choppy mess that looks like it was done by someone with no experience. The stylist (a woman with green hair) was friendly but clearly rushed and unskilled. She used a single scissor and a cheap plastic comb--no clips, no sectioning. She grabbed huge chunks of hair and cut them without properly combing or layering. After the cut, she didn't even bother to tidy it up or style it in any way. I immediately noticed how uneven it looked at the back. When I pointed it out, she had my daughter stand up to do a quick fix, which only made things worse. At that point, the damage was done--my daughter's hair was left way too short and completely uneven. When we got home, everyone agreed it looked like a dog had chewed it off. This experience has not only been upsetting for me but has left my daughter feeling self-conscious and sad about her appearance. I believe we are owed a full refund for this extremely poor service and distressing experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially for kids' haircuts. I honestly cannot believe how horrible this place is. I deeply regret ever bringing my son here. They absolutely butchered his hair and that's putting it mildly. The woman who cut it was completely unskilled, impatient, and downright rude. It was obvious within minutes she had no idea what she was doing, and the result is one of the worst haircuts I've ever seen on anyone, let alone my child. I was so upset I called the next day to ask for a refund. I spoke with someone named Maddie, who, after hearing why I was calling, hung up on me. I called again, now really upset, and after taking my information, she hung up on my face again. That's not just unprofessional, it's disgusting behavior. This place is a complete joke and so trashy. The staff are incompetent, rude, and clearly don't care about their customers or their work. I'm writing this review to warn other parents: do not take your kids here. Aimee did a fantastic job fixing my 4yo son's hair that was done poorly by another kids shop nearby. Aimee was professional and took her time making my son's hair look great. All while not only being very communicative and receptive to feedback, but also doing a wonderful job interacting with my son and making sure he was comfortable. The shop itself was nice, and I appreciated the play structure that made our short wait very smooth. Cookie cutters is the only place we go for our kids haircuts. We go to the Natomas location and they always book up fast so we love there's another location! We made the appointment online and were able to find one for the same day. The inside decor and layout is exactly the same as the Natomas location. It's bright, colorful, with the play structure in the front and TVs and vehicle chairs for the kids. Our stylist was gentle with the kids. We did a 1st haircut package for one of our kids, and it came with the picture and certificate. At the end the kids got a lollipop, balloon, and sticker. Everything was perfect and we will be visiting this location for all our kids haircuts now! read more

I am beyond mad. I came here to give my son a hair cut. I showed the lady a picture of the way I wanted my sons hair to be cut. And I had specifically said that I didn't want the currles on the back of his hair to be cut. The tech process to cut off the curls on the back and cut his hair way too short. My husband scheduled an appointment for my son on Monday 6/16/2025. They scheduled my son for 6/17/2025 at 12:45pm and they sent us a confirmation text message. We specifically chose this place because it has the cars and we thought it would be helpful for our one year old since he loves cars but cries during haircuts. When we arrived, the lady Maddie or Maddy was at her desk and asked us for our son's name. We let her know his name and she said " You guys didn't book an appointment but I guess I can cut his hair." We were confused because we did schedule and when my husband tried to hand her his phone to show her the text, since it could be a system error because we did receive a confirmation text she said "Don't put your phone in my face." His phone was not near her face and he was just trying to help to show her we did have an appointment. At this point, I did not feel comfortable with her touching my son's hair because it seemed as she was really impatient and rude. Mind you we drove 45 minutes to this place to get him a haircut, but it still was not worth traumatizing my son with her. When I told her I was going to call and let her team know about my experience she was smiling and asked if I needed her manager's number. I truly hope her leadership does not encourage or support this behavior. There was no one else in the shop, so I'm confused as to why a simple kids cut was so upsetting to do. Please think twice before booking with this place and with Maddie, especially if you have small children. I'll attach the confirmation text we received the day we booked it. I ended up going to Super Kids Salon in Roseville with no appointment as they also have the cars and were really patient and understanding with our son. It was a great experience. read more

Brought my 2 year old in to get her bangs trimmed. We were grateful for the play structure in the lobby area and they were able to take us as a walk in with little wait. The tv set up and the car "chairs" were great and had my toddler as still as a statue. Which is why I was surprised when we got to our car and realized how terribly short her bangs were cut. The stylist asked me "at the brow or above the brow?" And I said "at the brow, I'd rather trim them more often than they be cut too short." ... Well this is about an inch and a half above the brow... If it's your job to work on small children, don't get impatient doing it. One of my children was rough handled, cut (as in sliced), and received the completely wrong haircut. The lady who cut the first of my children's hair got impatient and angry that a toddler who was uncomfortable in the position they were in. She got rough, and started arguing with the barber cutting my second child's hair because the second child was getting the style of hair we wanted while the First Lady was completely off. She cut my child's ear, and left a haircut that looks half complete, mean-whist the other barber was doing an awesome job. read more

Disappointed by the service here. Our first visit was great but this time I was appalled by the lack of flexibility and attitude I was given. Our appointment time was 4:45 pm, we walked in at 4:45 on the dot. The girl at the counter was speaking to another family and when it was our turn, I explained we had an appointment, to which she replied "well you're late, so we'll see if the 5 o'clock shows up and if they don't, then we can take you" I looked at my phone and saw it was 4:47... we were 2 minutes late... They refused to take us because "appointment slots are only 15 mins and missing 5 mins is like missing half the appointment." When I tried to explain that we WERE in at our appointment time, she told me she doesn't make the rules, she just enforces them. When I asked if this policy was on their website, she said "it should be" From a business that primarily works with children, I'm confused by the lack of understanding for families who do their best to get kids out the door and into appointments on time. I checked my booking email and the website, from what I can see there's no mention of needing to be there early on their booking page or website, nor the late policy. I could understand if I was 10 mins late, but I was on time and they still weren't willing to work with me. From the back of the salon, the hairstylist asked without a smile, "which one do you want to sit in?" There was no introduction, genuine connection nor implication of what she indented to do for my son. We quickly selected a levitated car for him to sit in. From his perspective, this was a new phenomenon of getting his haircut in a circus like atmosphere. My toddler abruptly realized the moment a cape draped around his body, someone behind him would place their whole hand with long acrylic nails, on top of his head and begin to use a buzzing clipper to cut his hair. My son was in his salon chair begging for it all to end and I felt horrible listening to him cry. I wished that very second that I could have cut his hair myself by watching YouTube videos; his experience would have made the world of a difference if someone caring enough would have cut it. Our hair stylist did not show any empathy towards a little boy crying in his chair, instead she persisted with the cut and had responses that were shocking for someone working with small children. She sternly called my son's name and demanded, "look at me when I am talking to you". As my son persisted to cry and evidently frightened, I noticed that his cape was wrapped around his neck too tightly. Her response was that she could not take the cape off, "it's against the law and she could lose her license for removing it". The haircut ended early, I could not bear another minute in that place. He left with hair all over his shirt and face, hair wet, unevenly cut and eyes full of tears. I took my seven-year-old here, and they say they serve all the way up to teenagers, but it's definitely a five-year-old and under environment! I had a 4 PM appointment, and I heard the other hairstylist stay to my stylist, "Your next appointment is here," and it was only 4:05pm. I felt like my daughter was rushed to get finished. Amazing experience with both Amber's (yes, they are both Amber, lol). It was my 2 & 5 year olds first haircut, and all expectations were exceeded. They came up with a creative solution for my son, who was not interested in the cape or the haircut. Amber gave him the blow dryer on the cool setting, and he played with that THE WHOLE TIME. He had long curly hair, so we discussed options and together decided to go short. I think she did a fantastic job. We got a "first haircut" certificate and some of his hair in a keepsake bag. I took my 16 month old son for his first haircut. I was very nervous to take him anywhere for a haircut because I didn't want them to cut too much and wasn't sure he'd tolerate having his hair cut, but he definitely needed one since his hair was in his eyes and it was just time. I looked up a bunch of places and decided on Cookie Cutters and made an appointment through their app. Cookie Cutters was great, we had Aimee as our stylist and she was very patient with my son and made sure he was comfortable while she was cutting his hair. She also listened to exactly what we wanted and made sure we were happy with the results and was willing to make any adjustments after the cut was over. Maddi also was a big part of his first cut, she made recommendations on what chair would be best at his age, blew bubbles for him, brought out a Ms Rachel doll to entertain him and sang songs while he was getting his hair cut so he was entertained. They have a slide and climbing area that was great way to get his wiggles out and the balloon and lollipop was a great treat for him afterwards. The lady (with a green pixie hair) who cut my daughter's hair looks like in a hurry. She should have at least comb the hair to make it look neat and nice, but she does nothing after the haircut. Took my son here for his very first experience at a child-friendly salon. We had a great experience. We arrived early and there was comfy seating in waiting area and fun slide/play area set up to keep the kids entertaining while waiting their turn. I had told the staff the seat my son preferred during check-in and the staff made sure to cut his hair in that specific seat which definitely was the highlight for my son. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to all requests. At one point, my son didn't stay still and began to cry before haircut was over. The lady cutting the hair was very understanding of my son's emotions, and politely calmed him down and got him excited again about the idea of being in the chair. Once calmed down and gained trust of my son, then she finished the hair cut. & they gave him free candy! I was impressed by her skills and how she handled that situation. This is the first time I took my son to a kiddo salon. We usually go to a real barber shop. The salon was cute and new. But the staff was not friendly. Like really not friendly. At one time she said this to my son " I've asked you not to move." I get that kids are not the best listeners. But you know what you signed up for to work in a kids salon.
