It's so difficult to resist getting these cookies when you can smell the fresh baked goodies as you're walking around the mall. My favorites have always been the butterscotch pecan and white chocolate macadamia nut. It's $6.95 for 1/2lb and I usually get 1/4lb of each which gives me a good handful. They're sooo good, especially when it's fresh out of the oven. Let them cool down a bit and they're slightly crispy on the outside but still have a soft chewy center. I sometimes get the cinnamon sugar pretzel as well but they're tougher and not as fluffy as the ones from auntie anne's. read more

The best cookies in New York! Yes I said it, and they can only be found in Brooklyn at Kings Plaza Mall. Cookie House/House of Pretzels has been around for a long time and since I was a kid I've been enjoying the gooey soft chocolate chip and old fashion cookies from them. They taste so good and even better when matched with some lemonade or a soda. You know the cookies and pretzels are good because even if the mall appears empty there is always a line in front of the Cookie House. If you're from Brooklyn, you know what I'm talking about. I used to love Cookie House. And when I say used to, I mean as of a few months ago. For the past year or so, I stop by Kings Plaza EVERY WEEKEND like clock work to get some old fashioned and chocolate chip cookies from Cookie House. They undoubtedly make the best butter/sugar and chocolate chip cookies I've ever tasted. But here's my problem; their quality has gone steadily downhill. As a previous reviewer stated, they used to have FRESH, CHEWY cookies straight out the oven. That is no longer the case. It seems as though the cookies are baked to a hard crisp, especially the sugar cookies, which come out of the oven looking brown and over baked. I get to the mall early because I hate when it gets crowded around noon, and it's rare that the cookies taste fresh; they are hard, crumble easily the way older cookies typically do, and have a slight stale taste at times-- MEANING, they put out cookies FROM THE PREVIOUS DAY. One of the workers who knows me well from going so frequently even told me so before I bought a batch, and I appreciated her honesty. So, if you're getting one of the popular flavors, like chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin, you should be fine-- they constantly bake a fresh batch of those. But Old fashioned, chocolate chip pecan, double chocolate, even macadamia at times-- ask to taste one first or don't bother. read more

The Cookie House is the cookie spot everyone else longs to be. The smell is crazy and when your trying on clothes in the mall you must be really careful as your hips and a$$ gets bigger as you sniff. Try holding your breath or stay at the far end, you may not like the choice in clothing stores, but at least you're still the same size you were when you first came in. I mean for goodness sake if you want to be safe just eat the cookies and buy a size up in pants. You at least get the benefit of eating the cookies. read more

Quite honestly when I come to the mall, the last stop in the mall is this place. The aroma of it fills the entire floor that it is on. The cookies are pretty good, but the pretzels are to die for. They have multiple flavors and dipping sauces. The smell just makes your salivate. There is always a line so try to map out your shopping time and the pretzel house time. I asked for a plastic cup with the hole in it so I can have the milk to give it to my 5 year old. The manager had the nerve to tell the staff that was helping me say no instead of coming over like a real manager from any store to tell me in my face. I would like to see someone show me how a straw will work for a coffee cup with a lid that has no whole just a peel off part on the lid will work and not spill all over the place when the little one starts drinking the milk from it at an angle. I will never go back here again for any drinks. Cookies are great but definitely the manager today have no clue how to be a manager when she don't even want to come face to face even though she was only standing about 5 feet away. Their cookies used to be worth venturing into the "Hell of Kings Plaza" for but the last three batches of chocolate chip cookies I've purchased have been screwed up in three different ways. In the first of the three screwy batches the "cookie cook" killed them with the molasses, the second batch was stale and crumbled, and the bag I picked up tonight is full of half cooked (raw dough in the middle) cookies. Honestly, cookies aren't that hard to cook and I thought these guys had "fool proof" recipes to follow. But I guess the fools won yet again. I think everyone who loved how these cookies used to come out should call up the GM and ask him: WTF is up with all the sub-par quality these days? Have been coming here for years! the chocolate chip cookies are really perfect - they're soft, chewy, and not too sweet. I can honestly say the flavor and texture of the cookies has remained the same for as long as I have been coming here - 10+ years! They went up in price ($6.75 1/2 pound) but for a once in a while treat - totally worth it. read more

I had a bad experience today during my visit. The employee had a terrible attitude. The employee snatched my money out of my hand and just threw my change down. I spoke with the "manager" who did not help the situation. I visit Kings Plaza often but this is the first time I experienced such horrible customer service. The employee needs to be retrained.
