Two guys (a black guy and a white guy with blonde hair and Japanese shirt) that work there were entirely rude. As soon as I walked in the guy with blonde hair sighed and came to the register SO VERY ANNOYED because it seemed to annoy every inch in him that he had to do his job and not be on his phone. The black guy was also rude as him and the blonde haired guy both did not greet us when we came in. They didn't speak at all, other than one who said how much my total was. It's sad because I was looking forward to this place, but your rude ass employees will make me just go elsewhere. I guess when it's not your business, people don't care. The cookies were great by the way but I won't be returning with those two working in there. Get somebody grateful to run a cookie shop. I originally gave this place 4 stars... But it's down to 3 stars now. Earlier in the week, picked up cookies. The coconut cookie was tasty! Snickerdoodle was soft and tasty! Yummy. Now last night...... White chocolate almond, chocolate chips with nuts, chocolate chips, and my crackle cookie.... Hard with a loud crunch on the outside/edges of the cookie, middle was hard not chewy or soft. No sweetness, just bland. My chocolate chip cookie with nuts had one small piece of a nut in it, and that was it... Is the ingredients to make these cookies not in stock? I'm paying the same price for the cookies as before (maybe more now), but I'm not getting the same quality... What a waste of money! That's a dozen of chocolate chip cookies plus 3 other cookies that I paid for on the side. Wasted. The consistency of their cookie is a bit and miss. I really wanted to love this place. However, it went downhill from the time I walked in the door. First, no one acknowledged me when I walked in. But, since they were assisting other customers, I disregarded this. Then, while they were still assisting the same customers, a man walked in behind me and received a very warm hello from the middle-aged brunette at the register. At that point, I almost walked out. Finally, when it was my turn to be assisted, the middle-aged brunette asks who was first like she didn't see me standing in front of this man who just walked in. I realized at that point that she was ignorant. However, I didn't know if she was just rude or racist. Again, thought about walking out. At this point, I already know the rating for this establishment is down the drain. So, I decided to get the full experience. I buy a dozen cookies at $24 and leave. I called my husband and told him about the negative experience, and told him these better be some of the best cookies I have ever had. Once I got home, I was very disappointed. Even my 7 and 8-year-old didn't want to finish a whole cookie. THE COOKIES ARE DISGUSTING! I am from Alabama, where we cook everything from scratch. And let me tell you... Putting a boat-load of sugar in a cookie does not make it taste good. The peanut butter cookies had next to no peanut butter or taste in them. The chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies had entirely too much sugar. I have had better cookies at Safeway and Raley's. Additionally, you are charging $2 a cookie for terrible service, disgusting, and inconsistently sized cookies. Many of the cookies are so small, charging a dollar is questionable. Lastly, I am a healthcare provider. I came here during my lunch break to get cookies for the family. But, because this establishment is close to the job, I was hoping this could be a new place to stop and get treats for the coworkers. I've been going to cookie jar for years!! I love this place. It has gotten more expensive and smaller in size but makes sense with how the world is now. The young workers there are always sooooo nice. I love the cookies, taste so fresh like homemade. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I went back to the Cookie Jar very recently to grab not only cookies for myself this time but some for my husband who wanted to see how they compared to the nearby Crumbl Cookie. I grabbed 2 chocolate chip (without nuts), one S'mores, a Diana Sugar cookie, and one Snickerdoodle. The two ladies who helped me were so friendly and eager to take my order, which was very nice and kind. All of these cookies were delicious by the way, again with that slightly crisp outside and soft, easily breakable texture that melts in your mouth. So tasty! As for comparisons: this is your typical tasty bakery cookie, something Crumbl doesn't try to be. If you want mega overload cookies that are very cake-like and more buttery, go over there. The Cookie Jar has very serviceable and pleasant cookies when you want to have more than one and not be sent directly into a sugar coma haha. read more

The peanut butter cookies that I got (PB + chip and PB + Oreo) were a bit on the dry side and tasted pretty much the same. I felt a bit rushed when ordering. I stopped by for a quick dessert after dinner. It was close to 8pm at the time and they were out with a good portion of their cookies. One remaining flavor that caught my eye was the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookie! They sell cookie ice cream sandwiches in 2 different sizes. The kids size is $3 and is 1 cookie cut in half with vanilla ice cream. The adults size is about $4 and is 2 cookies (can be different ones) with vanilla ice cream. I went with the kids size ice cream sandwich with the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookie. Honestly, it was delicious and just the right portion for a dessert! The cookie was amazing and may be my favorite cookie at The Cookie Jar! This is my second time here and I have not been disappointed. FOUND HAIR IN OUR COOKIES!! I hate to write a negative review, but this is simply for the safety of others. We came in around 3PM and almost all of the cookies were sold out. After buying only 6 cookies, we ate one in the car and found HAIR in the center of our chocolate chip cookie. We were very disgusted as we bit into the cookie and found a thick, white/blonde hair stuck in the center. It was a considerable long piece of hair. I am baffled at how this happens. After this occurrence, I am not sure if this place follows food safety guidelines! ZERO. Today 4:30pm, Girl w brown hair wearing a mask comes from behind the counter, doesn't say hi, doesn't ask what I would like. Stood there & waited w her eyes staring at me till I ordered. But I was OK with it. I just brushed it off because I was in a cookie-kind-of-mood. I asked for two separate bags. She still said no words. I ordered 5 cookies total, the first 2 cookies I took time to point out & direct her through the glass which specific cookie I wanted. She looked so annoyed, still had not said a word to me, blank stare, and I started to feel like a fatty. So I had her pick the last 3 cookies & only asked that she separate nuts vs no nuts. I also ordered one coconut cookie (which isn't pictured but was not fully cooked in the middle either). She said "$10" i gave her my card & I said "oh so each cookie is $2 now?" she nodded and said "would you like your receipt." I said " yes....you pretty much have to expect a near perfect cookie for $2, that's why I like to pick the thicker ones" and I chuckled. Then awkwardly I keep small talk "I've bought cookies here through the years & notice some are thinner so I like to pick the thicker ones vs the thinner" She rolls eyes, still says nothing, hands me the receipt. She doesn't even say thank you. I turned around by the door & said "you know...you could be friendly rather than just rolling your eyes" She got defensive quick & finally spoke "I'm not rolling my eyes" I said "you did, maybe subconsciously you don't know you are doing it" she is appalled starts to walk away while I'm finishing mid sentence so I said what's your name you're being rude. With a no-fear attitude says Brenna (?) and storms off & I leave. I was parked just outside the door. I see an middle age man who I assumed was manager/owner with a T-shirt on, cap and a beard looking out the window. Because I'm a local business manager & been coming there since 2007/2008 (about 12 years) I felt he would want to know what happened, that as an adult he would just take the Teen to the side as a simple learning to be patient with who she perceives as a difficult customer. He looked like he was searching for me, so i waved to catch his attention & chose to leave my car & walk back to the store to go chat w a fellow business owner, BUT he swings the glass door open, holds the door open while sticking out his chest like a rooster and says "what's your problem? You got a problem??!!!" I was shocked! I became upset and said to him "well she was rude" he said "you made her cry!! Why is she crying?" I said I didn't make her cry! He kept telling me, a 5 foot 1 woman "what's your problem?" I said "I don't know why she is crying but don't yell at me, do you want me to cry too?" (My context- meaning could I cry so he would calm down/listen) I said "you don't know me." He said "I don't care who you are. I said "you are so rude, what's your name? He said "don't worry about it" I said "I liked it when your dad ran this store." I was searching for my phone in my purse to type in his name so I could tell his "dad" (don't know why I assumed he was a son/family of the original owners which of course I could be wrong) but he refused to give his name. I think he thought I would film him & because I'm female short tan minority he rushed back inside! I stood there for a few seconds in shock of what just happened. 1) your cookies are $2 each. It is NOT ESSENTIAL FOOD! $10 for 5 cookies is a splurge to many of your customers. So when customers are picky about which particular cookie they want, teach your employees to be friendly OR make your cookies consistent so we don't have to pick & chose. Be grateful there's customers like me who have been coming to your store regularly for years 2) I remember Larry & his wife (they were soooo nice) opened the store back in 2007/2008 he took pics of my daughters & kept their pics in his album which he kept in the cookie store for years. He would greet us, give samples & thank us for returning. Through the years we would stop for cookies when we needed rewards, several times per week or month, buy bakers dozen, tell everybody about your cookies, buy them as gifts etc. Back then I didn't have to point to which I wanted, there was quality control, every cookies was thick, cooked well, & worth the money. 3) The last several years quality is so poor. (someone sent me a message and told me the man yelling at me was owner Louis Mills?) Cocky owners who don't care & quite frankly now that I think about it, seem prejudice towards me and how I looked because his was NOT A NORMAL Business owner reaction. 4) listen to your customers before you yell at them Crocodile tears of a rude teenager does not give you any right to puff your chest and yell at me! I could have called the police on you for your intimidation tactics!! I will NEVER EVER return.
