So I am on my way to Urgent Care, Honey is on the way and yes, they were open. Amy told me she made the Christmas donuts herself, I had to get one for my mom. Honey Donuts is small but has a great variety. In my humble opinion they are the best donuts in Elk Grove and Sacramento area. In the shopping center on the corner of Laguna and Franklin. Small shop but big flavors! Very friendly family owned shop. Non-glazed old fashioned donut is a very solid choice at this shop and I was pleasantly surprised on how much I enjoyed the chocolate cake donut, a type I don't really reach for. Crispy goodness. As for donut fluffiness, the raised donuts in particular are just average. The donuts aren't overly sweet and are actually a bit more flavorful than at other donut spots. Don't really recommend the bagel sandwich; although the one that I had was tasty, the bagel was toasted-burnt. A wonderful place. Me and my dad have a long-standing tradition of going together in the mornings to get donuts, and this place is our new favorite. Ever since the early 2000s we have been trying all different donut places in Elk Grove and this place has fresh donuts all day long, they are friendly, and it seems to be a family business. Oh my. So we were in Elk Grove and needed to drop off a package at the UPS Store. It's been a few years since I've lived in Elk Grove so I couldn't remember exactly where the UPS Store was located. Found it on Yelp and as we pulled into the parking lot, we noticed it was close to this donut shop. Usually what stops us from going into a donut shop is trying to eat healthier and having to go out of our way to drive to one. But given that we were already out of the car and walking into a UPS Store, it was far too easy to just stop by the donut shop. *sigh* (So many excuses) Figured we could get 1-2 donuts and be on our way but of course self-control is not my strength so we ended up walking out with a box of about 6 donuts AND a Thai tea. (They didn't have any boba). The Thai tea was amaaaaaazing. A little on the sweet side, which is easily solved by adding some water but there's something they put in their Thai tea that has an extra kick to it. Not sure if it's some kind of spice or Cardamom or cinnamon or star anise or what but it's fabulous. So glad we don't live too close otherwise I'd be in trouble! The donuts were good. Came here to get donuts for the crew. My son was over from San Jose, and I also had my homeboy come to help me with some home improvements. I got a dozen donuts. I'll try to remember them all. I got glaze donut, twist with maple and chocolate, Old fashion glaze, plain cake, chocolate donut, apple fritter and an Oreo donut for my little guy. I really shouldn't have ordered all that. It ended up being around $40 for just donuts. That was my bad for just going Willy Nilly on the ordering. Anyhow, I wouldn't have been disappointed if the donuts were fire. To be honest they were just fine. Not mind blowing like how some of us felt when we had Kristy Kream for the very first time. I do realize not everyone feels this way about Krispy Kream but a lot do. I digress, it wasn't special is all I'm saying. It was very serviceable. For how much I spent though, it was disappointing. As I mentioned I know it was my fault running it but it doesn't change its role in my disappointment. Had it been around just under $30ish, I would've definitely been okay with that. That said, I wouldn't mind paying around $40 if the donuts were an amazingly absolute standout. Alas it was not sadly. They were not bad though. So please don't take this is an all around bad review. It's just an account of my personal experience. The store itself was very typical hole in the wall donut shop. Which is always somehow strangely charming to me. The staff seemed nice. I got a shy person helping me but she seemed nice. All in all. The experience was just fine not bad. Slightly disappointing for the reasons I've stated. I DO love local businesses and I hope they stay open for years to come. Would I come back? Yes I would. The donuts are really good, particularly the filled ones. The place is a bit pricey for what you get. They are super flexible and can add filling - custard or berry to a bar or round if they sell out of the filled ones. read more

I've tried a few donut places in Elk Grove before coming here, honeys donuts has the fluffy light donuts that I like so this will be my new go to spot. I got a half dozen, the chocolate bar and chocolate raised are really good. The chocolate on top is chocolate-y without being overly sweet and the dough is light and delicate. The sugar raised was also fluffy and not overly sweet, which I enjoy. It was 8 am and they still had a good selection, I've come at 9:30am and they were mostly gone. I can no longer give Honey's Donuts 5 stars due to their Low Donut Stock at 9:30am when they're supposed to be open into the early afternoon. Yes, they do have good tasting donuts but if I'm not able to eat it, then what? I've been coming here for many years now and have noticed that in the last 9 months, they have very little selection mid-to-late morning. I should have learned my lesson after the first few times but have been coming back hoping for better selection. Riding my bike is like hunting for treasure. Today I found a gold mine. A small family owned donut shop. The name of the shop is called Honey Donuts. There located in a small shopping complex off of Laguna Boulevard. When you walk in you can't help but notice all the different varieties of delicious donuts, scones and danishes in a glass display case. They also sell freshly brewed coffee to go with your donuts. I am a scone kind of guy. So naturally I bought a berry scone. I have bought many scones in my lifetime but have found Honey Donuts to be the best! Most of the other scones that I had tried elsewhere were usually hard, dry, and very crumbly. What a big mess.! Their scone on the other hand had the texture of a biscuit infused with wild berries and drizzled with a light frosting. My wife had ordered a chocolate donut filled with lemon custard. Unfortunately they had run out. To my surprise the owner said "No Problem" Without hesitation she custom made one for her right on the spot. Now that's customer service at it's best. They are open from 5am-2pm 7day a week. Their prices we're cheaper than there competition. So the next time you have the urge for something sweet, don't forget the donuts. Great hole in the wall local joint. I come to this plaza weekly for my ups drop offs. Notice their donut signs, but never really stopped by or went in. But my craving for chocolate donuts and my thirst for coffee had me heading to their doorsteps. Place opens later than normal donut shops. Came here around 2:30pm. Got my donut and java chip fix's. They have a large varieties of donuts, including cronuts and ham and cheese donuts. Prices are very generous and fair. Bought half a DS worth of donuts. Owners were friendly and kind. Very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely make this my go to donut fix. Donuts were soft and freshly tasteful with an afternoon purchase. read more
