This place has a horrible owner! We came in as a group of 16 and had planned in advance to eat outside. He got snotty and tried to switch us out, saying we didn't have that seating, and another group did. We finally won out, but they were out of things as simple as lemons, and a breaded shrimp plate came with 4 measly shrimp that were obviously something like Gordon's frozen breaded shrimp. After we all began leaving, one of our group's ladies, because of a poor entry exit, tripped and fell due to improper protocol. The owner couldn't care less, and she broke a front tooth, busted her lower lip, and banged up her knee and elbow. All the cashier did was give her some ice. The portions are pitiful. This was the worst catfish that I've ever had. I got grilled catfish with green beans and a salad. It's canned green beans literally just out of the can no seasoning no salt no nothing. The catfish could've had at least some salt, pepper, or seasoning of any kind. It literally tasted like they boiled it in water and then threw it in the pan for a minute. In a picture on here it looked good and it looked like it had seasoning on it. I guess they forgot it this time. read more

Just had another wonderful experience at the Boathouse! Best burger on the lake. The waitstaff is always pleasant and attentive. It's always more like eating at their home instead of a restaurant; you are actually treated like a guest.. nice view of the lake and there is always a witty conversation to be had with the owner. That would be "the old guy at the register" or the "dude" who has to deal with folks who haven't come to grips with the lakeway pace of life.. They really deserved 1 or 2 stars, but I will give them grace because it was Father's Day, plus I've visited this restaurant before and enjoyed my meal. It took about 20-30 minutes to get seated, which was understandable. Once we ordered, it was almost an hour later when the server came out and said "Is French fries okay, we ran out of baked potatoes?" The food was coming out one plate at a time. People all around us were griping. Nobody really apologized for the wait, or the outages. What I found most disturbing was that the man at the cash register, who I assume was the manager, was doing nothing but sitting in a booth, pecking on his phone, and doing absolutely nothing to help out--either in the kitchen, or with service recovery with the customers. Once all the food finally got there, the portions were pitifully sparse. It's like they'd ran out of food and were rationing it. All in all, it was a bad experience. This is really sad because it's a lakeside restaurant, in the middle of summer, with a busy marina behind them. They should be crushing it, business wise. Not sure I'll be back. read more

First time - went for lunch. Server JoEll was great! Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. With the exception of french fries, the portion sizes were quite small. I had pickle spears as an appetizer for $6.40, which was the smallest I've ever gotten (photo attached). My husband ordered the catfish, which was 3 maybe 4 ounces max. It wasn't breaded, just sautéed and plain. He consumed it before I could get. photo. His green beans were out of a can so nothing special. Our food wasn't cold or hot but warm to luke-warm. I do like this place. We had to stop going here because we have gluten intolerance. They offer gluten free buns. But we can't tell the difference between the regular ones and gluten free unfortunately. We have gotten really sick twice, even after telling them. The food here is good (of what we can eat.) If you're from out of town and looking for good food, try it out. But if you have gluten issues, move on. read more

Had a weird experience this weekend at the Boathouse, which I usually like. Brought in some friends from out of town for dinner. When the waitress approached, my friend asked what were the soups of the day and which would she recommend. She made a face and said honestly, I wouldn't recommend any of our soups. Seemed like a very strange comment for someone working there. And it just set off our choice of restaurant like a bad choice. We ended up ordering dinners. One of our party ordered crabcakes and they came on a plate with no sauce, so she asked if there was tartar sauce and the waitress said "oh well we have crabcake sauce." I don't understand why that wouldn't have been offered or put on the plate. We were raving about the homemade desserts so when it came time for dessert and we went to order she said "we don't really have much left". We were interested in what was called "Pig Pickin Cake," so we asked about it. Again, she made a face and said not one of my favorites. But then she did describe it. She didn't mention peanut butter pie, even though it was listed on the board as a special of the day so we asked. She left and came back and said yes I do have a couple of slices of that left. All in all it wasn't a bad meal, but I'm sharing this because the waitress really should be trained better. I'd think you would want her to be an ambassador for your restaurant, not someone who makes the offerings sound bad. read more

We don't eat out very often, but find our visits to Cook's always leaves us full and content. Their food is very well seasoned, tasty, hot and fresh. The waitresses are very friendly and keep coming back to refill tea glasses without having to be beckoned. Don't waste your time, waited over an hour for food. The tables around us turned over. When asked to check, the owner lied claiming the kitchen was backed up, with a very disrespectful attitude. When in reality they lost our ticket in the kitchen. The same guy also attempted to over ring our ticket, and when this was pointed out, it was met with that same attitude. The way it was done wasn't like mistakenly ringing up something that wasn't on the ticket. But inflating each item on the ticket. read more

We had a mini reunion here with an aunt and cousin while vistibg Tennessee. There were six in our party and everyone enjoyed it. Hubby had the meatloaf special with mashed potatoes. He said it was like granny's. Daughter enjoyed the BLT with fries. Aunt devoured the 8 ounce ribeye. We teased her about having any fingers left. Cousin and her husband enjoyed the fried cod. Probably the best place around for grub. Yelp directions take you to the opposite side of the road. When you end up in someone's driveway, shoot across the highway and you'll see the restaurant. Great view of the lake, very reasonable prices. Staff is very welcoming. Lisa was one of the best servers I've ever encountered in my foodie travels around the world. We sat on the back patio where the football game was playing and the bugs were serenading us. Definitely set the mood since we don't have bugs in Vegas. I put a hurt on a blue cheese bacon burger with a side of pickles. Thankfully, our server caught me in time and told me to save room for the pumpkin pecan pie. Holy smokes. This dessert will knock your socks off. We ate it so fast I couldn't even get a photo. My group had the seafood platter and country fried steak. Everyone was very happy with their choices.
