[[HIGHLIGHT]]It's got a down home southern feel with home cooking style food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's smaller inside than we thought from the outside, but has a good amount of seating, with booths down the sides and tables in the middle.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Expect to spend $10-15 per person, plus tip. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and tasty. Also loved the fried okra and onion rings. The coleslaw and rolls were good, but not the best I've had. Neither of us cared for the cornbread; was very dry and bland. The wife enjoyed her country fried steak, corn and fries, but wished the steak came with white gravy instead of brown. The brown was also a little salty for our taste. The wait staff was friendly and helpful; brought us both rolls and cornbread so we could try them (definitely go with the rolls). She even brought me a sample of their coleslaw to try. We didn't ask her to do this she just offered, which was super nice. Food came out fast and drinks were refilled promptly. This restaurant is a refreshing break from the big chain places. The food is always served hot and fresh. The have lots of tasty options on their menu and daily specials. They have a wonderful staff who will take very good care of you. My favorite dish is the meatloaf and my least favorite is the chicken livers. They chop their livers up into small pieces. Came for lunch on a Friday afternoon at 12pm. Seated immediately and drink orders taken. Service was pleasant and courteous. We ordered the BLT salad, BLT sandwich, and the fried chicken special of the day. Salad and sandwich were good, the fried chicken, however, was okay. Really wasn't fried at all. Kinda mushy, but tasted okay. The cornbread, peach cobbler, and apple crisp that came with it were good though. Hoping this was just an off day for them. The hubs and I decided to defy the 3 stars and give this place a try. After all, it's got a favorite from our childhood -Davy Crockett -in the name!! The parking lot was pretty full when we pulled in at lunch. It was clear to see why the reviews haven't really been updated. Their patrons seem to be regulars, and definitely not very Yelp savvy. I'm guessing that most have never heard of Yelp. So we were seated right away and given a paper menu. They have a TON of options and a good selection of vegetable sides. Since it was lunch time we opted for sandwiches. I ordered the fish sandwich with onion rings. My hubby ordered the BBQ sandwich & fries. We both ordered unsweetened tea. The food came to the table quickly. It looked really good. I only had 4 onion rings but that was fine for me. If you want a larger order it's an additional $1.99. They were homemade and delicious. The fish sandwich was on a hoagie bun with lettuce and tomato. It was also delicious. My husband said his sandwich and fries were great!! Tea was also good. We didn't get a dessert but they had a display cooler with desserts as you walked into the door and they looked very good. Our server was efficient and friendly. The food was good. They were low on stock when we tried it. Our waitress had stated that they had just transferred ownership. Customers were taking out their frustrations on other waitresses to the point one broke down in tears. Not their fault. I'd be willing to give it another shot. DCR review So I ate here around 1230 in the afternoon on a Saturday and had a great experience! I was able to seat myself immediately and was give a drink and a menu within 5 minutes. I was asked for my order in about 10 minutes and got my food within 10 minutes of ordering. The food was pretty good! I got their grilled chicken tenders, French fries, and 2 sides of green beans as it was sort of a meat and 3 sides setup. The chicken was amazingly tender and juicy, well cooked and they had honey mustard which I love with chicken. The green beans were also very good, not stringy and also well cooked. The French fries weren't bad, a little cool but still good to eat alone or with ketchup, etc. There was a decent amount of food for the price, and I only paid about $12 for the whole meal. I did get only water, I'm a college student on a budget. I love that they brought my water to me in a to-go cup!! According to patient education from general surgeon's regarding prevention of acid reflux, a person should avoid over-eating And drinking too much during meals. Apparently you should only have a small amount of liquid during meals and do your hydration well before or after a meal. A to-go cup makes it That much easier! =D Overall a great experience and would highly recommend for those seeking a quiet-ish hometown eatery. read more

This is the WORST "Meat & 3" diner I have ever eaten at in my life! My husband and I were there the last Monday of October and the not only was the food non-descript, the service was bad too! My husband ordered the fried shrimp which they were out of and he ended up with the salmon which was okay. I ordered the sugar cured ham and it was okay. The sides (veggies) were just okay, bland, nothing special. The young blonde skinny girl that waited on us knew NOTHING about the menu and kept going to the kitchen to ask the cook the two questions we posed to her. I ordered the Sweet Tea which is a staple in the South and it was horrible! How do you mess up tea? After our food was dropped, our waitress NEVER came back to check on us and I motioned to her and she was either too busy flirting with a table of men or with a young high school boy that sat off to the side of the kitchen on a chair. Another young lady ended waiting on us. Why my husband didn't hand her the outlandish too much tip to her instead of Blondie is beyond me! Just from out of town. I thought the name would have said it all. But I was mistaken. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As I entered there were 2 young women behind the counter. I ask if I could eat outside where they have tables and chairs set up. They said yes, but they wouldn't serve me outside,,so it wood have to be a take out, now there's 3 tables in the hugh restaurant with people in them[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Whatever so I proceeded to order a large coffee and a western omelet with bacon and toast, I said rye toast and she said what I said rye please, she said white or wheat, wow. At this point I should have walked away. As iam waiting I ask for my coffee to ad sugar, was told I didn't say a coffee, which I know I did. They were to busy talking about ordering some items online, the 1 girl said she forgot to ring it up, so again I should have just walked away, but I was trying to give them a chance. So when I received my coffee and meal, I proceeded outside, the bacon was as thin as a dollar bill, I dont think Davey Crocket would have approved, sad . The omelet was very small.. unbelievably Disappointed. My dog finally ate the bacon . You could tell she didn't approve either. I dont like going to fast chain places. Ive learned in the past, its usually better in a mom and pop shop , that there portions are bigger and.the quality of food in better. Not at Davey crocket in Morristown tn. This must be were the locals go to eat. Pros: Inexpensive, and good food It's a great value, you get a lot for your money! Good menu variety. Breakfast basics, like eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, etc... They also make omelets, french toast, waffles, pancakes, as well as a la carte items. Restaurant was clean. Our server was attentive, repeated coffee refills. Lots of vintage Davy Crockett photos line the walls. Cons: ( and this is why I gave it 3 stars instead of 4) My sons waffles w/strawberries didn't come out with the rest of our meals. We had to wait an additional 10+ minutes for it to finally come out, and the "strawberries" were just some sort of strawberry syrupy thing in a styrofoam bowl. Toast was warm bread...even though my husband requested DOUBLE TOASTED. Bacon was overdone on one side and practically raw on the other. Grits tasted like the water never boiled...very rough and no possible way could 'creamy' be used to describe them. Service was spotty. Someone is going to have to explain to me what the allure is of this place, because I saw nothing, tasted nothing, experienced nothing that would EVER entice me back. Since Morristown is the land of the chain restaurant, this places stays around year after year drawing pretty solid crowds since it's one of only a couple independent restaurants that are open past lunch. Food and service are a bit inconsistent, ranging from slightly above average to "school lunch acceptable" depending on the time and day you are there. Relatively convenient location, reasonable pricing, and lots of parking, although the lot is at an angle that makes it tough to get in and out of your vehicle. To be fair, I might give this place 2.5 if that were an option. read more
