He came out while we were under contract to price out adding a second HVAC system to the upstairs (which was running 10 - 20 degrees hotter than upstairs). When we closed on the house, he did the entire job extremely professionally and for a great price. This was a big job - re-routing ductwork in a tiny attic, getting a gas line up to the second story, etc. His team was professional, tidy and thorough. Fast forward to 2014 and our downstairs unit (over 20 years old) finally committed suicide and Larry came out straight away and, once again, gave us an extremely competitive price for a AC and furnace replacement. This year (2015), the new downstairs unit was running warmer than expected and not as efficiently as it should and he quickly came out, diagnosed the problem (a manufacturer issue with the TXV valve) and fixed it for free. AC stopped working middle of the night on Wednesday evening. Was lounging in bed watching videos…read moreand heard a pop. Thought it was my crazy neighbor banging his door closed, and forgot about it. Then I started to hear a buzzing every 5 minutes or so. Told my wife to check her phone, figuring that was vibrating. That wasn't it. I then thought hmm what could it be, and as I listened closer noticed it coming from outside where our AC unit is. Went and checked thermostat and saw it was at 78. Wife likes it on 72 and I can say this unit has been managing that this year with the lower summer temps. Went out and checked it and yes the fan was on but you could tell the compressor was trying to kick in and buzzing like missing a connection. Knowing from my past AC events and that pop, I figured and hoped it was the capacitor which is usually a quick fix. The unit was 4 years old, but I was not surprised being an electrical engineer and knowing how more of the solid state components added to these appliances don't last as long as old discrete mechanical ones. What happens in our throw away economy. That is why I was so glad we used Eric. He not only gave us a great deal and great service but he offered the best warranty around. Wife texted him Thursday morning and he showed up less than 30 minutes later. He worked for about 20 minutes knocked on the door and said it was a bad capacitor and all fixed, and reminded us to not touch the thermostat for the next day or so. We asked how much we owed him and he said, "No charge." Music to my wife and my ears. House was back down to 72 by mid day and everything back to normal. I tried contacting Austin Air Dynamics but never received a call back. So back to Yelp to find another AC guy. Found TKO and called. Later that day, Trey called back. We scheduled him to come in a couple of days when I would be home. He arrived slightly early which is a good sign. I introduced him to KC, turns out he has cats too so he understood the intro. Then to work he went. He went to work on the outside unit. A little cleaning and blowing out the drain, the house felt slightly cooler. Inside he inspects the attic over the garage and finds it divided. So he climbs a ladder for the attic over the bedroom. I was concerned of the heat in the attic, he assured me that it was cool up there. Why, you ask because the main duct was split wide open, letting the cool air into the attic. He does a quick fix of taping closed all the ducts. He tells me that when they previously replaced the duct work, they never removed the old ducts. Also they never replaced the duct going through the dividder wall in the attic. He promises to send me a quote to replace the last duct and clean out the old ducts. Two weeks later, he emails the quote. The price was reasonable and Trey was personable and professional. I will be using him again for the additional AC work I want done.
