Every meat--brisket, ribs, chicken, and pulled pork--was so good we couldn't even decide on a favorite. Every bite had us saying, "Just one more!" I am blown away, by the service, easy parking and the food oh my!! They are inside a gas station so seating is limited. Let me tell you about the food. The ribs cooked to perfection and sooo flavorful. The slaw is perfect to breakup the savory and give it that nice crunch, the Johnny cake is perfectly dense and moist with slight sweetness that compliments everything. All of the meats were perfect, again so flavorful, and tender omg. And the sides!?!? I can't lie I was skeptical of the corn, but it was honestly my favorite and the mac and cheese was so yummmm. We were SUPER hesitant about coming here due to it being located in a convenience store. DON'T BE. If you're looking for well cooked, flavorful food- this is the place and you'll be SO glad you came. We were driving through the area to get to our destination and picked this spot over all of the other restaurants due to the 5 star reviews and they did not disappoint. The shop is owner ran and operated. Both guys were incredible friendly so I'll give them a 10/10 for the ambiance. I'd consider myself someone who is rarely impressed by flavor when eating out since I am a cook myself but they didn't fall short here either. We ordered the brisket, jerk chicken (this was my absolute favorite), street corn and the Caribbean slaw. I truly mean it when I say that everything was a 10/10. Pay them a visit. My daughter and I finally tried this bbq for the first time and its some of the best we've had! We got the ribs, pork and coconut street corn. The pork was perfectly seasoned and the ribs are fall of the bone tender. The street corn was so unique, a little sweet and had a hint of the jerk seasoning. delish! The johnny bread was so unexpected! It's moist, a little sweet and has the tiniest hint of lime? Whatever it is, we couldn't get enough. My wife and I were in New Braunfels on a day trip. As we were looking through Yelp for a place to eat, we stumbled upon Cool Vibes Smoke and Flame. Five star reviews from a restaurant in a gas station was surprising and weird enough we decided to check it out. I am very glad that we did because it was some of the best barbecue not only in Texas, but that I've ever had! The brisket was tender and delicious with a phenomenal smoke ring and the jerk chicken was well seasoned, tender and delicious. The spicy BBQ sauce compliments the meat, but isn't required in any way. Mac and cheese and coconut street corn were the perfect way to round out the meal. Plus, the two gentlemen that run the restaurant were kind. Not only did they see to every need that we had as far as the food; they also offered to (and did before we left) pray for us and any prayer requests we had.
