Let me start by saying this is my first review on Yelp. I have used Yelp's reviews in the past but haven't decided to post my own review, until now... My family was recently faced with an Arizonian's worst nightmare, no A/C in the summer! And with 2 young children and a wife sitting at 38 weeks pregnant, the reality was worse than the nightmare! After a long, and mostly sleepless, night, I faced yet another potentially scary event; hiring a contractor... Let me give you the story chronologically, at least in temperature! 90 degrees: After reading several positive reviews on Yelp, I called Cooler Tymes Heating and Air Conditioning. Mike called me back within 10 minutes of leaving a desperate message for relief from the 90+ degree temps in my house, on a Sunday before 8am no less! (Because, of course, the A/C couldn't go out during "normal" business hours!) 93 degrees: After dealing with a home warranty company (that shall remain nameless) which found it acceptable for my family to potentially bake for 24 hours until they hired their own contractor and, therefore, not knowing if I would be able to hire Mike, he was still very helpful by giving me some quick over the phone diagnosis as well as alerting me to what to watch for with other contractors that may be out to make a big profit, considering my circumstances. 95 degrees: Once it was certain that the home warranty's selected contractor would indeed not be able to come out the same day (after repeated efforts to contact them as, apparently, they weren't going to contact me to say they couldn't make it the same day) Mike came to the rescue upon his white horse, er, van! Literally, within 10 minutes of calling him the second time, he was at my home. And, it wasn't because he wasn't busy, he came from a job and was going to another when he left us. 80 degrees: As I sit writing this review it is a comfy 80 degrees. I couldn't be more complimentary of the courtesy, professionalism, and knowledge Mike demonstrated throughout our conversations and his repair. I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend Mike to others with A/C needs. A heck of a nice guy and, maybe more importantly, knows his trade inside and out! My AC needed some TLC today, called Cooler Tymes (never used before), got voicemail, luckily Mike called me back a couple of hours later and he was able to come over soon after that. Great customer service, knew what he was doing and probably saved me $300-$400 dollars from what another company was going to charge me. Will definitely use again. I'm a happy camper!! read more

Mike with Cooler Tymes dictates exactly what he says as he does the job right the first time! We had a home warranty that came out a year ago which didn't fix the issue. Mike came out once to estimate what was wrong and came back with the correct parts to fix. When he was finished he checked out everything and then caught another issue which he fixed too! If I could, I would give 6 stars. I wanted to tune up my A/C unit since it had been a while and Mike with Cooler Tymes was able to get me in right away. Saved me from spending nearly a thousand dollars on unnecessary repairs! I was receiving complementary AC tune-ups from a big name AC company because I'm a first responder. On a recent tune-up, the technician found a leak in my evaporator coil and faulty capacitors on my 2yr old Lennox unit. My AC has a 10yr parts warranty but I was responsible for labor costs and I was told that labor was going to be about $1000. I thought it was odd that a 2yr old unit would already be having problems (and the labor costs seemed high) so I called the manufacture for advice and they referred Cooler Tymes among others. I talked to Mike, the owner, and he came over the same day. He checked over everything and found there was nothing wrong with my system! He even looked at the other company's paperwork which said my capacitor numbers were bad and he showed me the numbers were actually fine. That and if repairs were necessary, he would have charged a fraction of what the big name company was going to charge. Thank you again Mike! What can I say about Mike?! He is professional, quick to answer back calls and come to the job. On top of it, he gets it done quickly, efficiently and ensures everyone is comfortable. Our kids AC hasn't been proving much of cold air, making it miserable days on the second floor of the house. He got it fixed and when things seemed out of order few days later in my daughters bedroom, he didn't hesitate to come out to our house first thing at 0700 and get it all squared away. I can't say enough good things about how professional Mike was on fixing my AC unit. I was able to text him the issue and he just knew what was happening with the unit. He also helped answer question on a room that wasn't getting enough cold air and did some tricks to help fix the issue. Also gave my AC unit a good cleaning and fixed some wiring he seen that wasn't done right while he was here. I can say now my AC unit is working better then it has worked before. Called these guys last month, and said they'd be out that day, but never showed. Went out of town and needed to find another company, and called them again unknowingly. They said they'd be out in 30 min. Texted them my address and received a text now saying they'd be out after all the other calls were finished. They then texted me asking me to call to discuss thermostats. ( I called for them to come out to service my AC unit) I advised them that I called about servicing my ac unit, and they had in their notes from the month previously. I advised them they never showed and I wasn't happy about that and wasn't going to use them after all. The guy said, "ok", and hung up. So twice now this company has said they'd come out at certain times, and never did. They also have bad customer service. I received no apology from the month previous, and for that, I gave one star. read more

It turned out to be a bad capacitor, so a fairly inexpensive fix. But can't say enough about the fast response time. House was cool again less than an hour later. Had a AC fan motor go out got on Yelp and did some research and chose Cooler Tymes. Called and talked to Mike. Made an appointment the next morning even though this is a busy time he squeezed me. Shot him a few pictures of unit so he could do some research. Mike texted me in the morning letting me know his status a couple of times and showed up right on time. Had the parts did the work and replaced fan motor and capacitor and did a freon check etc. and my system works great! Living in Arizona there are certain things you cannot live without, one of these is air conditioning. We have been having issues with our ac unit cooling down our whole house and decided to have our units checked out. We intially called company named Goettl. We felt secure in using a large named company to back us up if anything were to go wrong. They misinformed us with false test and charged us with no serviced rendered. After discussing my horrible experience with friends I was referred to Mike at Cooler Tymes. He was attentive, knowledgeable, trustworthy, and professional. Anyway they called at almost 5 pm and said that they could not make there apt the next day. We could not wait. It was 110 degrees. We called Cooler Tymes and was hoping for a next day apt. He told me upfront what parts he needed to buy and how much with labor it would cost. The guys who work with the company were also nice as well. After finding out about a known leak in our AC system from another vendor and his really high price to fix it I decided to do some research for a new contractor. I have worked in heavy industry and commercial settings all my life I knew this vendor was out of line on pricing. So after reading reviews and talking to people I decided to give Mike & Cooler Tymes a call to put this to bed. He did a thorough inspection of the system found the leak, also told me the unit was not hung correctly (attic unit) from the beginning and was holding water and rusting the cabinet out plus torn and missing duct tape. The other vendor did none of this. Mike replaced "A" coil in the unit which was leaking, recharged the unit, fixed the duct work and re-hung the unit correctly for proper water drainage, for the same price the other vendor was going to charge just to chase down a leak. I am extremely pleased with Mike & Cooler Tymes. He is true professional, honest and fair. I'd doubt you'll find a better more honest contractor in the Phoenix area for residential systems. Cooler Tymes will be my permanent vendor for HVAC work going forward. Give them a call you, won't be disappointed. read more
