After finding out about a known leak in our AC system from another vendor and his really high price to fix it I decided to do some research for a new contractor. I have worked in heavy industry and commercial settings all my life I knew this vendor was out of line on pricing. So after reading reviews and talking to people I decided to give Mike & Cooler Tymes a call to put this to bed. He did a thorough inspection of the system found the leak, also told me the unit was not hung correctly (attic unit) from the beginning and was holding water and rusting the cabinet out plus torn and missing duct tape. The other vendor did none of this. Mike replaced "A" coil in the unit which was leaking, recharged the unit, fixed the duct work and re-hung the unit correctly for proper water drainage, for the same price the other vendor was going to charge just to chase down a leak. I am extremely pleased with Mike & Cooler Tymes. He is true professional, honest and fair. I'd doubt you'll find a better more honest contractor in the Phoenix area for residential systems. This review is a long time coming. I'm a Realtor, landlord/property manager and have been using Mike for several years after I found him right here on Yelp. Mike is the Trifecta - he's Knowledgeable, Reliable, & Honest. When I say knowledgeable, I mean that he not only knows everything about HVAC systems, but he is knowledgeable about many systems in the home. This last time I used him on one of my rentals, it turned out there wasn't even a problem with the unit itself. Mike figured out the batteries in the thermostat had corroded blocking the connectors AND the circuit breakers were in the wrong order on the panel (which a different a/c company installed before iI used Mike) and corrected both problems. Not only that, I called him at 5;30pm the night before. He managed to squeeze me in before his other calls and arrived at 7am. They were all cool in hour. They thanked me profusely and thought I was the hero-but it was Mike! And this was on that 2nd 110+ day of this year so I know he was real busy. The most important part about this story is that he could've said it was something much more expensive than it was, but he just charged me a little bit more than a service call. I've worked with so many other companies who immediately try to sell you another unit. Mike has never said that once to me. To me, the combination of knowledge, and honesty is the most I could ask for. The fact that he's dependable also is just icing on the cake. I couldn't recommend Mike enough and that says a lot. Why? Because I've recommended other contractors to clients in the past, and when they screwed up, the clients blame me! So if I make recommendation, I know I could be losing a client if the contractor messes up and doesn't make it right. Mike is one of the few on that select list. We have been using Cooler Tymes as our go-to repair and maintenance provider for couple of years now. Mike was extremely helpful and professional, both times that we have needed his services. We bought A/C units from him twice and his prices were much better than anything else out in the market. My husband loved the job he did for us the first time, everything was explained thoroughly and done the right way, no shortcuts, the house was nice and cold and our electricity bill was dirt cheap for the size of the house we have (two story home 2,765 sqft). Our main unit went out and the temperature started to rise and of course, on the hottest day of the year (115'). It was after 5 PM and Mike said give me 15 minutes to see if he had someone to come out. I received a text 15 minutes later saying he was in route and would be here shortly. While in route, Mike called to troubleshoot the issue over the phone. Once he arrived, he identified the issue and replaced the part. We got three estimates for a new HVAC system to replace our original-to-the-house 17 year old HVAC. Cooler Tymes was no cheaper than the others; however, we knew immediately Glenn was the guy to go with. The first company claimed to sell us a variable speed Trane for $10,000.00. However upon doing our own research discovered it was an energy sucking single speed system. The second guy was Glenn and he is a Lennox dealer. He sold us our $13,000.00 Lennox HVAC and this included full re-routing of our ducts and other work. The third guy talked garbage about Cooler Tymes (very critical of it being a small local company), while also refusing to re-route our ducts because "I'm not going to ask my guys to bend over up there, we'll install dampers instead." Frankly, we weren't impressed by either statement so we went with Glenn. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. We ended up getting 72 months interest free for our system and it was all installed in just a few hours. We love our new system. I'm so happy with the company and the system. We have worked with Mike for 2 years and have been very satisfied with his knowledge, quality of workmanship, and quick response times. Our home was built with a very cheap and noisy 12 Seer unit. It has always labored to cool our home, and we have had hot spots and rooms that did not cool evenly. In fact the entire 8 years we have lived here, we have received notices from APS that we use more electricity than all our surrounding neighbors, and we could never figure it out as we kept our thermostat at a conservative temp! When our unit finally gave out again a month ago, we discussed the options and decided to replace our old unit and upgrade to a whole new system upon Mike's recommendation rather than keep trying to fix the poor quality unit we had. We purchased an American Standard Platinum 20 Seer Unit. Mike told us we would be thrilled with the savings, efficiency and quietness of the unit. It was a big purchase and we hoped that everything we were hearing would be true. We just received our first APS bill and were blown away! Not only was it over $120.00 less than last June but it was less than our equalizer payment that we pay every month of the year! (even winter!) A BIG Thank You to Mike at Cooler Tymes! My ac unit went out this past (7/13) Sunday evening as my family and I were getting ready to go to bed. Dreading the cost of emergency call; I opted to conduct research online that night. Luckily, the ac went out during the evening so my house took longer to warm up. Note: key word "longer" and "warm" in Arizona is an understatement in the Summer. After reading countless reviews online from various websites; I came across Cooler Tymes on Yelp. During my review, I noticed the company's one star reviews and they stood out to me. However, the one star reviews stood out because, Mike actually responded back! I noticed he did not wait weeks or months to respond back to customer concerns. He was punctual, polite, informative, and allowed me to see both sides of the story. I called Cooler Tymes the following day Monday at 7:05 am. Mike answered the phone and informed me, he would be able to stop by between the hours of 2 pm to 5 pm. He explained he might be able to come out earlier but, could not make any guarantees. However, he let me know he would keep me posted as the day progressed. Mike stuck to his word, he sent me text messages through out the day. His notices allowed me to take care of my obligations while still keeping me aware of his arrival time. He arrived at my place around 2:30 pm; would have been sooner but, he was making better time on the road than I was. Amazing how many red lights you hit when you need to get somewhere! Mike was courteous and extended a warm welcome when I met him. As he conducted his inspection, he explained and showed me the issue I was having. He ended-up repairing another company's spotty repair work left from the compressor motor replacement 2 years ago. His cost of repair was much less than I expected and did not burn a hole in my pocketbook. He was fair, honest, and easy to speak with throughout the entire process. As the old adage goes. Mike came out to my house today. My air conditioner was unable to bring the house below 80 degrees and it was working its butt off trying to do so. He called me back within 15 minutes of me leaving a message and scheduled a same day appointment. He was on time to the appointment and swiftly got to work. He took the time to educate me on the problem at hand and even gave advice on how to optimize the performance of the system. My unit was very low on freon. He was able to fill the unit and normalize several measures of pressure and temperature that were way outside of optimal norms. At the end of the day I paid $365 for the service call. I was charged $70 per lb for the freon and $85 for the service call. Upon investigation in price comparison on the internet this seemed an average price. It was definitely no deal, but it wasn't a rip off either. Overall, I would call Mike and "Cooler Tymes" again as the service was professional and friendly. read more

came out a couple of weeks ago . after hundreds in repairs we went out of town only to discover that it broke down again . returned to a 100 degree house . he again came out and charged close to another 400.00. after leaving the air conditioner was shaking and making noises that had never happened before. he came out yet again and said it was like that when he first came out . that something was wrong but for some reason he didn't bother telling us. by the way his ad says he takes credit cards but beware he charges a penalty for doing so. read more

Before calling Cooler Tymes, I noticed they received high reviews from Angie's List (Service Award), Yelp, and Google so we decided to give them a try. Our 5 ton AC unit went a few weeks ago and I called Mike and he responded within 20 minutes, something I did not expect. He was very honest and upfront with diagnosing the problem. The problem we had was the fan blower motor and the ac condenser went out. It is very rare for companies to be honest but there are still a small handful of them like Cooler Tymes that believes in this principle. He advised us that we need replace our 5 ton with a new one and offered us a fair price on a Lennox XP14 (14 Seers) unit. Our 5 ton unit was a builder's build from 2004. I was very impressed with the professionalism and workmanship that he and his crew had when installing our new unit. After taking out the old unit, he and his crew pointed out that main culprit of our AC going out was the air handler blower located in the attic which had blown out and in turn created a domino affect resulting in the loss of AC unit. I highly recommend Cooler Tymes. They are very kind, professional, honest, and knowledgeable in AC related issues. They are a company who looks out for their customers unlike others.
