My girlfriend's heater stopped working, so she called this company. They told her the required…read moreparts were "rare" and recommended replacing the entire system for $8,000+, citing the age of the unit. When she declined, they suddenly "found" the part and quoted $1,800, then took a deposit. A quick search showed the OEM part is widely available for around $150, and the job typically takes 1-2 hours. Charging $1,800 for that kind of work is hard to justify. To their credit, when I called and requested a refund of the deposit, they returned it without issue (hence the 2 stars). That said, the initial sales approach was misleading and predatory. For context, another company has since quoted $460 for the same repair.

Very responsive service and "diagnosed" a defective blower motor that was "one of the most…read moreexpensive motors I've seen" and "don't know if I can get one" immediately went into "upsell a new furnace mode" and was assured it was a "competitive price" Big mistake should have immediately called two other companies for quote. Installation was flawless, but the price was exorbitant at $8300. $6-6500 would have been a fair price for a $3400 heater marked up 1.5X and a 6-8 hours of labor at more than $200/hr labor. Met with owner and he justified the price mostly due to "knowing his costs", generous salaries for his employees, enormous overhead, advertising and a "small profit margin" Lesson learned. When the technician goes into upsell mode and tells you they are offering a competitive price, don't believe them. Get three quotes. Also, they remove any negative reviews and want you to not post anything detrimental on social media.

Arrived as scheduled. Eli was my technician. He was polite, well spoken and presented himself well…read moreand he was a very knowledgeable technician! He explained to everything he was doing and completed the repair in. timely manner. I would definitely use Retro HVAC again for a repair or a complete install.

Sold us on a family company. Showed up day of install with larger unit, placed outside unit…read moredirectly next to back door. Which my husband did not want, Anthony wouldn't move it. Was in a "got your money let's get this done quick job" kinda mood. Didn't connect part of unit (return) had to come back and take apart to fix only bc we noticed. Placed larger unit that we did not pick so close to powder room door you can only open door half way to get it, he did not care. If we got the unit that we agreed on it wouldn't be so giant in the space. Thermostat has been wacky since February. He told us needs to be replaced. Texted Anthony every week for over a month no response. We've been ghosted. Horrible experience basically our warranty is void bc we can't even get an answer from them.... Anthony you know who this is...if you'd like I can add screen shot of all the messages we've sent to you. We've been texting since February about our thermostat replacement. Don't reply with we can't verify this. And to call your office. You never answer or reply!! Check your texts or I can add pics to this review. Total BS.
