Refusing to schedule a warranty visit without first getting a credit card preauthorized for a few hundred dollars which is against the warranty company's policy. It's unprofessional and suspicious. Happy to pay after a diagnostic visit (prepaid for the service call) and an estimate is given, but do not ever give your credit card to charge ad lib for "possible overages" of an unknown amount.... read more

We woke up to all of our kitchen & laundry tub drains clogged and at a standstill. Thanksgiving week, on a Monday, in the middle of the afternoon. With short notice, always quite the challenge in our experience to acquire plumbing help with such, especially during a Holiday week. Called Coon Plumbing here in Port Townsend, and in less than an hour, a guy was dispatched and at our door. Seriously? This late in the day? Gabe was an experienced technician, professional & friendly, and got right to it. He was able to diagnose the blockage, clean out ALL of the system, everything clean as a whistle in LESS than an hour. With a few extra minutes, he went out of his way and fixed a draining issue in one of our bathrooms. AND, all for a price that was very reasonable, considering we were on "emergency hours." The short notice factor was most impressive. Coon rates pretty much at the top of our list of plumber experiences, at a time when our need was dire. Need a plumber? Look no farther. This is the second time Coon has given what we believe to be " less than good" service. Today we had them come out because a frost free spigot, they installed, was leaking. They said they don't sell them anymore, because of the problems they had, and they wouldn't warranty it. It cost $100 service fee for a 15 minute check, and he replaced a washer. Had they told us they wouldn't warranty it, or told us our options for repair, we would have saved $100. Poor communication on the phone. Last time we talked to the woman who answered the phone and hoped to get a plumber out to look at our pool. After two calls, no one ever called us back. I guess they didn't want that job. read more

Our kitchen sink had issues with water extremely low water flow out of the hot water side. The shut-offs were old and needed to be replace too. I called on a Saturday morning with an outside leak that necessitated water to the house being shut off. Coon's answering service picked up my call right away and paged the on-call plumber. Gavin called me promptly and was at my house 10 minutes later. After digging to find the problem he was able to stop the leak and we agreed to schedule the long term fix for later and not continue at the emergency rate. The emergency rate is reasonable (for a plumber) under $150 an hour with no additional trip charge. It's nice that they don't try to gouge people with an urgent problem. read more

Our reverse osmosis unit cracked and flooded our kitchen. Coon had a plumber out in no time to remove the unit so we could turn the water back on to our sink. He recommended that we call our insurance company. So glad we did! Not only was our wood floor destroyed, the water had soaked under our cabinets and would have caused major damage if we hadn't had professionals out to remediate the problem. read more

The plumbers found the leak in the upstairs bath,it had damaged the moulding and soaked carpet through the wall into the bedroom.after replacing every part,he told us we needed to replace the toilet.it still leaked.we paid over $200.00 for the service.Went to home depot bought another toilet,replaced it myself and everything is fine now.I will never recommend this company.I don't understand how this business has survived. read more

Coon Plumbing came out and reset our upstairs toilet seal. I repeat, our upstairs toilet seal. Which had created a bit of a mess. Like dropping effluent slowly into the media room below. Coon Plumbing came out promptly, helped put in a new floor, help put new tile into the bathroom area, reset the toilet seal. We had a busted pipe under the house and had no water. Called Coon plumbing and they came out, cut a hole in our floor, took our toilet fixtures, and charged us $260 to tell us they couldnt do anything for us, and just left us without water, with a hole in the floor, and without any if our toilet fixtures. We called a handyman service from craigslist. They had it done the next day. Very disappointed in this "professional" company. read more

But whether you get John or one of his employees, the work is always great and reasonably priced. We woke up this morning to a plugged system between our house and the street. Water backed up everywhere...pretty ugly. My aunt set up a service to get a new water pump installed, went through them to get an electrician to do that part of the work. She ended up having the electrician show up, but they canceled, so my aunt was out the money for the electrician and still without a working water pump. I'm pretty sure they also got a cut of the money for the electrician since my aunt paid him through the plumbing service. read more

Our kitchen sink drain was barely draining, and we also needed to have a new faucet set installed. The plumber called before he came, which I appreciated (gave me time to take the dishes which I hadn't washed yet out of the sink and stash them in a cardboard box in another room), and did a meticulous job of installing the new faucet set and unclogging the drain. Our house is 100 years old, and the plumbing is mostly original and touchy to work on, but the plumber did a great job--no more dripping faucets, and the drain is fast again. He also gave me some good tips on keeping the drain clear. Highly recommend! read more

I came home to a leak outside after work on 3/9. I was told Coon's Plumbing was a good company to call. The original phone call to them was very confusing- there were two secretaries, one named Kelly (who is new apparently), and the I am uncertain of the other ones name. I do live an hour away from this plumbing company, but Brad was agreeable to come out, informed me of how long it would be before he got to my house, and what the "emergency rates" would be. You can read on the attached invoice, that the leak was not fixed, and he left my house with the water shut off. It was also very cold outside this night. He was suppose to come back the next morning. The next morning came, I called the office and Kelly answered, again there was confusion, but she told me Brad would be coming back out, then she said she was mistaken, and it would be Tim. I asked her to give me a time frame, she said it would be in the afternoon. I said okay- I am going to call around to other plumbers to see if someone can come sooner than that. Then she called me back to tell me I still had a balance I owed, and if I wanted to put a card on file, I was very taken back by this, and I said no. I sat there a minute and called Coon's plumbing back and the other secretary answered the phone. I introduced myself and asked if they were still coming, she said no, we are sorry we are all booked up, and it will be "emergency rates". I said excuse me, I was told someone was coming. She said nope, you told Kelly "you were going to shop around". I told her I am planning on paying you guys, and then I ended the phone call. Then Brad called me "the office manager" who was also the one who came to my house the night before. And also told me they couldn't come out. I reluctantly paid them, but then realized this is not okay!!! This company was extremely rude, lied to me, and still wanted their money, and did not fix the problem. Another plumber came out and had to re-do the entire job. I want a full refund. read more

Showed up on time and was successful in fixing a clogged toilet. After taking care of that he "looked at" my hot water heater in the garage by tearing off the insulation blanket surrounding it and didn't bother to retape it. Also asked him to send me a written estimate on replacing the masterbath sink but to date have not rec'd it. Because of these two unrelated items to the clog, am neutral on giving two thumbs up to this business. read more
