This is the 3rd time I've had a whole house softener and filter installed in my home (3 separate homes, each with a private well). My wife and I really enjoy the feel of softened water in the shower, and the fact that our white clothes stay white. I sometimes hear of others who don't like the taste of softened water. With our first softener (1999-2005), we noticed a little something about the taste of our softened water, but in the 2nd and now this 3rd new one we only notice that the water is as good as any bottled water, with no unusual flavors or after taste. We bought our current home just over a year ago and did a complete remodel. After moving in we immediately noticed that our well water was staining and scaling up all our new bathroom and kitchen fixtures, as well as staining our white clothing. I searched the internet, read reviews, and decided to reach out to Pure Water Northwest. Their rep came to my home a few days later and was very interested in hearing my concerns and clearly discussed options and recommendations to get our water satisfactorily conditioned. There are many softeners available online and in the big home stores for much cheaper than what PWNW offers. Since I have a fair amount of experience with water softeners and know how to do basic plumbing, I was about to "DIY" this job and save some money, but after reviewing all the literature and considering warranty coverage when having someone else do it, I opted to spend more money and go with what seemed like a much better system. After committing to purchase from PWNW, they put me on their schedule and showed up when they said. The installation techs were very friendly, and obviously experienced and knowledgeable. I had fun discussing their tools and process as they worked and they didn't seem to mind me being around. It was very pleasant and straight forward working with PWNW, and my system is working as well as I had hoped. I think they do a great job and I recommend them. It costs double what a DIY job would be, but in the end it seems worth it, and if you can't do your own work, it's a no brainer to go with PWNW. read more

I had a water softener installed at my home. The unit does what it was designed to do but my experience with this company was not one I would recommend. It reminded me of being at the car dealership. The sales pitch was heavy with lots of add ons recommended and the cost was higher than other local shops. When it came time for install we discussed I would not be home and they said that was no problem. I left detailed instructions and my cel number. I came home to find the installer had not been given my number or instructions. Instead of using the existing drain next to the softener he let himself into my home, found access to my crawl space and drilled two new holes in my foundation to run a drain line. Finally, when I contacted them again reluctantly to add additional filters I finally gave up when the quote came back at double what other providers bid the work. I have a new system now from a local competitor and really regret working with this company. read more

There's a bunch of magical thinking in the world of water quality, I remember when I had a guy in my house who got some tap water and ran a few electrodes separated by some terminals and it churned the dissolved solids in the water together and made it look like I was drinking poop my whole life. That guy was a charlatan. Whoever that guy was is evil-goatee-Spock to Chris's chisel-chinned-logic-magnate. Chris installs for Pure Water Northwest. I think my metaphor is going overboard, let's get back to the facts: I have no idea if Bellevue water has too much chlorine or pharmaceuticals or metacarbowhosawhatsits, but guess how much of those things I wanted in my water???? Less! So I had Chris with Pure Water Northwest out to install a Reverse Osmosis Under Sink System (I am trying to work on my capitalization, how am I doing?). I was excited to see how it worked but a little bummed because I was so used to getting the water from the fridge line and thought I would have to get all my water from the new sink line. Why did I care??? Mostly because the kids, who are 4 and 7, had gotten practice in getting their own water from there since they can reach it. But I needed my less-stuff-in-my-water-fix so I was prepared to deal with endless "daddy, I'm thirsty!" to feed my need for clean. I think all I did was complain about this a tiny bit, there may have been whining, I can't remember. Chris jumped on it and hooked it up so it was able to run to my newly installed sink line AND also to my refrigerator. WHAT?!?!! I can have my less-metacarbowhosawhatsits-in-my-drinking-water and eat my children-can-get-there-own-darn-water cake too???!!!!! HOW COOL IS THAT?!! Anyhow, now that it is installed I am very happy, water quality is amazing and my kids keep telling me how good the water tastes. Pure Water Northwest installed a water purification system for me. They did not disclose that the replacement filters can only be purchased thru them and that they charge $100 to install them (which takes 5 minutes). Additionally, when my system broke several times they were not able to figure out how to repair it. I was forced to install a different system where I could buy parts/filters directly and hire competent help when needed. read more

I appreciate their educational approach in testing from start to finish. My water is high in chlorine and a bit hard. Fixing these should be good for health (ingesting the water and skin health), flavor of the water, and longevity of appliances, etc. read more

Once we had the systems installed, there was an immediate improvement to the water quality. Ended up getting a fairly extensive system, so it was pricey, but you get what you pay for - and they are quality folks. Pure Water Northwest (PWN) is the best, easiest way to future-proof your house's water supply. They offer installation of the best products made to clean water for everything from the kitchen sink to the shower, and everything between. Chris owns the company and he employs capable technicians who do most of the surveys & installations for PWN. A couple of them did the initial survey of my house and gave me a simple estimate within an hour, along with a line item for each hole and pipe that needed to be plumbed. When it came time for installation, PWN was pretty busy and Chris jumped in to take over some installations - including mine! I was lucky enough to have a first-rate water purification expert do my installation, and it was excellent. At one point Chris found a valve error a previous plumber made and he resolved the problem and improved the valve in the process. From turning off the water main valve to turning it on again, it was ~90 minutes (super fast). Chris was in and out of my crawl space with new lines run in no time. The purification device was installed smartly in a corner of the garage so it didn't get in the way of parking or anything else. PWN set me up with a slick Texas-made Reionator Pro Ultra by Water Tech, and it has changed my water consumption literally overnight. The PNW-installed Reionator purifies water from the primary line, and even though Kitsap County has high quality water, I love the assurance that for now into the future, no matter what happens to the water utility or the environment, water will be clean for every sink, bathtub, and even toilet. Chris finished off the install with a custom video he did on the spot while I recorded him explaining the system to me - he knows everything rote about the products he installs and the video is much easier to refer to for operation & maintenance than referring to a thousand-page reference manual. And finally, the finance team at PWN was kind enough to let me pay in a few monthly installments for my system, which makes it easier (and less expensive) to finance on a credit card.
