Very satisfied with both the service and price received here. Took my 2009 S to Monrovia Mini. they found a broken guide and timing chain likely damaged, too. they quoted $2300. That was *way* out of my budget so I was faced with parking the car for a month to save up or.... get totally lucky and find a guy like Jeff. over the phone he said that if they had to change the belt it would cost no more than $1200, which they would put in writing. but before they assume the worst they will check it out and see maybe the damage is less. It turns out they had to change the whole belt, which only took an overnight. when we went to pick up the next day, he showed me the original damaged parts. BTW they used original mini parts not generic after market. final bill: $1153. We're going back for all our future service. read more

This review is way overdue. Ben and his team are the best. I had my check engine light turn on and I brought in for a diagnostic and nothing came up through the reading so I took it home and a few days later the same thing happened again. I brought it again and this time they inspected it and after trial and error, Ben found a little part that was broken and he replaced it all for free. This was my first experience with them and they have earned my business for life. I have brought my car in for regular services and after my car stalled and turned off which was very scary. Not only did they fix it but I took a test drive with Ben to ease my mind after I was traumatized that it would happen again. Every time they have been very professional and upfront. I have a 2005 Mini with about 90K miles on it. A week ago today my transmission went out on my cooper (manual tranny :-( I immediately called Ben at Mini Experts who truly bent over backwards to accommodate me and get my car repaired in a timely manner. The cost was SIGNIFICANTLY lower than what the dealer would have charged and the repair work was impeccable. I was able to get my transmission repaired and additional things that were needed without any problems what so ever. When I picked up my car Ben showed me the old transmission, the trans oil that came out of it and the power steering hose that was replace. I am sold on Mini Cooper Experts and will continue to patronize this business. The owner is honest, he listens to the customers concerns, he is easy to talk to and willing to go the extra mile for his customers!!! (BTW... my car is running GREAT! So, I had my mini serviced about 2 months ago but I purposely waited to write this review because I wanted to make sure the repairs were as good as my initial impression and it was. Before finding this place, I considered selling me convertible because the dealer wanted too much to repair the top and I couldn't find anyone who could do the work...until I came across this place on a web search. Now, I know repairs at the dealer are insanely priced and no one really ever gets their car repaired at the dealer when the quote is $1500. Well, I'm no different. Imagine my excitement when I found this place. They fixed the top and rear window (which was not included in the $1500 quote) for about half the price. I am happy to say, I kept my car. Since the repair, I have driven with the top down on many occasions and with summer coming, I will certainly be enjoying my car. I have since taken my car back for repairs on an oil leak and the work was done right and at a reasonable price. Let me play the "I'm a woman" card for a bit. It is hard to trust mechanics because yes, most of the time they take advantage of the fact that most of us know absolutely nothing about cars. The people that work at this place are trustworthy and honest. They will have my business for as long as I have my car. read more

I went today because my Mini Cooper ac wasn't working properly. I have had issues in the past where the ac was never really cold and eventually it just wasn't cold anymore. I had gone to the actual mini dealership and they supposedly did a recharge and refilled the freon for my ac but I still never really noticed that big of a difference. I really needed to get it fixed because the hot weather lately hasn't been fun. I found this place and saw the amazing reviews so I decided to see if they could help my car. The owner is very helpful and nice and I overall had a great experience here. The price was very reasonable as well which I appreciate especially being a college student haha. They did a recharge on my ac and it took about 20 minutes! oh my gosh!! My ac has never been this cold ever. I hope it stays like this and there are no other issues with my ac system. I took my car in months ago and it has been running like a champ since! Can't say anything but good things about Mini Cooper Experts! The guys are great to work with and explain everything. Kathy is so much fun and will definitely take care of business for you. I had many issues pile up and they were all taken care of and at a price I was totally comfortable with. -bent rim -60K mile service -Spark plug replacement -Cracked windshield replacement Called around for the first 2 items to the dealer and random shops. Service was very expensive at the dealer now that it's out of warranty and the rim price was like nothing I had ever heard! Shops wanted to give me salvaged rims and started talking about special services I need at 60k miles. I want OEM and I didn't need any of their special services. Bad spark plugs were found to be the problem of my mini "misfiring". I could tell something was off when I would punch it, it wouldn't "catch". Diagnosis and repair took all of 30 mins. I was showed what the bad spark plugs looked like and what they were doing to the engine, perfect for me! I felt like I was learning something! Windshield has no leaks and looks great! Definitely my go to shop for the life of my Mini! read more

I drove from Irvine in Orange County to get to this place because of all the great reviews. Ben and his team did not disappoint. My 09 clubman had been in a remote part of Mexico for the better part of a year when the timing chain went out. I found a mechanic that replaced it for me but with great difficulty since he's never worked on a mini, ever. It drove decent and I was able to successfully get it back up to the states. Then, about a month later she just started making whining and clacking noises. I was sure that the timing chain job was probably not done correctly. I took it to a local mechanic that replaced the ignition coil and said it was good. But it still didn't quite sound right to me. After much hesitation I took it to Ben. After listening to it for 30 seconds he said, I have no idea what that sound is but it's your car - if it doesn't sound right to you - who would know better but you? And he's right - no one else has fired up my mini hundreds of times and hears her nuances of a cold engine or bad timing. I liked that Ben trusted my gut. Within 2 hours of dropping her off Ben called and had diagnosed all the issues. My issue turned out to be a bad alternator and while he had the car I had him do the brakes and oil flush. Amazingly enough when he tested the timing chain he found that it was dialed in perfectly. This really surprised me because the mechanic I used in Mexico didn't have any of the right tools. He tried to get them from Mini but since he wasn't a certified mini mechanic they wouldn't sell them to him. He actually resorted to fabricating the tools he needed to replace the chain in his tool shop. Kudos to him. Now my mini runs like a champ. I'm so happy to have her back on the road - all thanks to Ben. I'm not messing around with any other mechanics - I know with Ben he'll diagnosis the issue and resolve it. Let me start this review by saying this shop is awesome. I bought a BMW M3 from a buddy of mine and right away I started having problems. As I was doing an oil change on this vehicle I noticed that the drain plug was oddly shaped. As soon as I tried tightening the bolt back up to the oil pan I seen it was tapped into and it had been done horribly by a previous mechanic so I took the car to Ben and his shop and immediately he said I can fix it no problem so I left it the for about 2 days just to make sure it wasn't leaking and he fixed it without having to replace my oil pan he saved me over $1800 in repairs. Now It's been about a week after my first visit and this time my check engine light came on and honestly I know these cars are expensive to fix so I immediately called Ben and he said bring it in. Ben and his shop had a diag in a matter of hours and said it's showing a code for the Vanos unit. New unit cost over $3000 just parts alone. I was expecting the worse now he tells me it's the Vanos solenoid which is way cheaper than the whole unit. He finished my car in about a day or so and saved me about $2000 he also let me keep it at his shop for about a week without any storage fees. I originally took my car to the dealership where they had it for 5 days without even looking at it. When they finally assesed the damage (crankshift pulley) they quoted me $400 more than Ben charged me. Not only was he significantly cheaper, he had my car up and running in about 3 hours! I got into an accident over a year ago and started driving my brother's 2010 Mini Cooper Hardtop. There were so many problems with his Mini, we contemplated selling it before I took it over. We had a mechanic that tried working on it and told us it was a lost cause. I found Cooper & Bimmer Experts on Yelp and tried one last time to see if someone could fix our Mini. Ben was extremely knowledgeable, ran a diagnostic and told me exactly what needed to be fixed. Based on the great reviews I saw online, I decided to give Ben a shot, I spent several grand fixing the Mini and a year later, I have to say I don't regret spending the money. Once I got my newly assumed Mini fixed, I've had no issues with the vehicle. A year later, all I had to do was get an oil change. The MINI is a really fun car w/ a very unique design. With that said, the "uniqueness" in design is frequently what causes challenges w/ regard to repair and maintenance. If you own a MINI then you know that indy mechanics that know this car are in an extreme minority. In fact, you're rolling expensive dice by going to an indy mechanic for repairs to your MINI. I learned this from experience and by reading MINI themed forums. Cooper & Bimmer Experts reign supreme. They're "dealer" caliber w/ service and expertise. They do not over sell service. I took my mini to Ben for the first time a while back for brake service, and not only did his shop work on my mini he also gave me valuable info on how to maintain it and check for things. No mechanic has ever taken the time to do that. They are honest and give excellent customer service. I went back to his shop a couple of other times once for service and the other for fuel injection failure. The third time I dropped off my car I went on vacation the next day, as soon as I got back my car was ready. They took care of everything including all the paper work with my insurance company. Not only did they accommodate for the timeframe I was available, they were nice and explained everything without being condescending or rude - which was the case when asking the dealership about anything.
