I found Steve to be very condescending when I had a difficult to diagnose problem. He ended up charging me close to $200 in labor for about 30 minutes of work that required no parts. Called in to see how much it was to replace parts that I thought were problems. Steve told me to just bring in my car and they'll check the car for me. Took my car in they figured out the problems and Steve laid them out for me. I usually work on my own cars but I just don't not enough time to do that anymore. One of my main problems was the power steering which i thought was leaking but they found the real problem and fixed with within the exact time frame that I was told (like on the dot). My Lexus ISF had a valley coolant leak which requires extensive disassembly and know how to repair. Steve and crew fixed it without any additional damage. Steve and crew have been pulling the heavier maintenance duties on our car since '05. Fortunately Toyota builds them well that the car is reliable and with the service attention from LM they keep on going. They've done 2 timing belt services on this car and the last one they refreshed the aged leaking valve cover gaskets, motor mounts, transmission selector seal and radiator replacement. Steve also pointed out tire wear issues so while the car was in he took care of getting the tires replaced. That's service! I started coming here because of a lot recommendations from online forums, specifically my.is (then is300.net). I took my brand new is300 here for its first oil change and continued doing so for around 60k miles. At the start it was a bargain and well worth the drive to Monrovia. Gradually their labor rates inched up to the point that they were actually comparable to the nearby Longo Lexus. I still kept coming to LMW because I liked Steve and trusted him. Then I guess Steve decided he had enough regular clients and started turning down the service quality. My experience with LMW since then has included: - Steve yelling at me because his staff screwed up - My shifter being installed backwards and blocking my handbrake and the car delivered to me as if this was acceptable - Numerous broken O2 sensors discovered on the drive home via check engine light (do they even test drive the car?) and then replaced at my expense This was once a great place, but I cannot say a single good thing about it anymore. You are much better off paying slightly more at the dealer than having LMW break something while they try to change your oil, and then yell at you before asking you to pay for your key. read more

Luxury Motorworks (LMW) is my hidden gem. I learned about LMW back in 2002 when I bought my 2002 Lexus IS300 5 speed. Back then it was a tiny garage run by the owner, Steve. My first experience was for him to install my car's sway bars and race pipe, and he did a fabulous job. Fast forward to 2008. LMW is now a bigger entity with several bays and all the amenities to rival any Lexus dealership. LMW provides a computer with internet access, complimentary soda/drinks and food, loaner vehicles, and internet accessible service history. Despite the shop being in Monrovia, I still trek out there to get my Lexus serviced because of the trust I have gained from Steve and his crew. I know that I will get the highest quality service for my IS300 and will not be ripped off in terms of labor or parts. I always had my car serviced at the dealership, and they quoted me an exorbitant estimate on 2 repairs. For 1 repair, Steve suggested how I should deal with the dealership who ended up fixing the problem for free. As for the other repair, Steve took a closer look and determined it wasn't necessary. Instead, he did some other less expensive work. Needless to say, Steve helped me save a lot of money. He is honest, compassionate and willing to help. He has your best interests in mind. Steve and the rest of the staff at Luxury Motorworks has been taking care of my cars for the past 10 years. I would not go anywhere else nor would I trust anyone else to care for my cars. Steve is a man of integrity...which is very hard to find these days. When I sign off on an invoice, I have no doubt in mind that it is fair and accurate. I recently took my car in for service. After looking at my car, Steve called and said I needed new tires. However, prior to calling me, he did his due diligence and worked with his tire supplier to provide me with the best possible deal for new tires. He was trying to find me tires that would last longer than the ones I had on the car prior. He also made an adjustment to the camber so that it doesn't wear the inside of the tires prematurely. I am so happy with his recommendations! My car drives flawlessly! I am not a person who likes to drive but after getting it back this time around, I have been offering to drive! The other cars I have taken to LMW were non Lexus cars and I have NEVER had any problems with any of them.
