A little back story before I start my review. I got in an accident in October 2012 but due to complications with my ex-husband, I was uninsured at the time that accident. As a result, I had to pay for the other person's damages out of pocket and never got my damages fixed. After paying almost 3,000 dollars in damages for the other person, I had nothing left to pay for my own and had to deal with a crappy looking car for almost a year and a half. I was slowly able to fix my tires and everything under the hood but the exterior seemed to take forever to save up for but I finally did it. I researched around on Yelp and came across Monrovia Collision Center to fix my damaged bumper, grill and cracked windshield. I have to be honest. I'm the type of girl who has no knowledge about cars whatsoever and was kind of scared/intimidated to walk in to get an estimate without someone knowledgeable about cars by my side. As soon as I walked in, Kevin, the owner there to help me, answering each and every one of my questions, which really put my mind at ease. After talking to him for just a few minutes, I knew I could trust him and put down my deposit. He worked with my crazy work schedule to get the job done well and time efficiently. I dropped it off on Monday evening and by Tuesday afternoon, I driving my car once again. It was my first visit to this shop. I needed my front bumper replaced with a new one. I inspected it after the replacement and found 7 blemishes that included a few unpolished/scuffed areas, some tiny bumps, and a remarkably noticeable paint drip. The shop's assistant was in that day who took pictures of the blemishes and I also emailed the shop owner about them. My bumper was in pristine condition prior to the collision and after it was replaced with the brand new bumper, I expected no less than new condition so why would one accept it in a condition that is worse than what it was originally. The cost was also over $1,800. My 1 star review is to reflect my experience with the following: Professionalism - The quality of work was not professionally done the first time. Customers should not have to return back to the shop to have to fix errors performed by the shop. Service - Customers will ask questions to clarify and seek information. The shop owner - Kevin - tends to give attitude and exhibit rudeness when I asked questions relating to work performed on my car. Ethics - For being at fault in the installation process of a brand new replaced front bumper, the owner and business should be responsible for reimbursing the transportation services for the customer who has to go back to the shop to fix their errors. The owner refused to reimburse for the transportation costs. I contacted my insurance company about it and they also agreed that they should reimburse for the transportation costs. Unfortunately, fighting for the reimbursement will cost me more than what I'll get back so it wasn't worth it. This was very disappointing and just unbelievable to learn of their unjust act and moral principles in this situation. Safety - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) encourages all Americans even people who feel healthy to wear face masks or face coverings in public: the owner did not wear one on both of my visits. I hope this review will help others decide if this auto shop is the best choice for their auto needs. Stay safe and well everyone! ----------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE 7/16/20: The owner had the audacity to ACCUSE me for applying touch up paint on my own new bumper (referring to the pic of my bumper I attached in this review). Instead of taking ownership of their fault of the paint drip due to their poor workmanship (among the other blemishes on the brand new bumper), he accuses his customer for it just after I posted this review. I am appalled by the owner's inability to accept fault and how he changed the story completely when I shared my review to the public (for the record, there is no touch up paint on my car or hood). Customers have a right to a review even if it's negative so the owner needs to accept it, learn from it, and move on. read more

Kevin is the best guy. He is honest and a perfectionist. This is good when he is fixing your car; trust me. I've taken my cars to him three times and always satisfied with the work his shop is doing. My family is in the auto repair business but they are retiring now. I have understanding of the business and quality of work due to this. I have used Kevin's services for over 15 years. (Should I admit to that? Do I get in a lot of accidents? lol) If I think back, it's all the little things, like little fender benders or all the people I have recommended over the years and honestly, between myself and my partner we do have 4 cars so maybe that is it. The color match on my older cars is perfect (One of them is a frustrating-to-work-on 2001 Audi TT original body, so if I take it in, Kevin also helps me find the little things that break on the interior that need replacing.) He has even helped me keep my 2000 Roadtreck Chevy van looking brand new! (That is a hard body fiberglass shell, very specific!). From an insurance point of view, I like that he is a private shop with good insurance relationships but is not in the POCKET of any of the companies, so I know he is working for me and not the insurance company. read more

I was in an automobile accident. I chose Monrovia Collision Center to repair my vehicle because he is in my hometown and he had such great reviews. It took the insurance company and towing company to transport my vehicle about a week to reach its finial destination of Monrovia Collision Center. Prior to this I was constantly on the phone calling to see if my car had arrived. Kevin and his staff were very kind and stated it had not arrived, but they stated they would call me when it did. Unfortunately, the car was a total loss and could not be repaired. Kevin stated he wish he could have repaired it but it did not make sense to do so. I appreciated Kevin's honestly. When I finally went to to go pick up my possessions from my car, I was able to walk around the site, I found the center very clean. I was not expecting this, because this is not always the case at a collision repair shop. I was very impressed. I will definitely keep Monrovia Collision Center as a reference for my repairs in the future or for those I know who might need the services as well. Please be wary when using Monrovia Collision Center's services. I accidentally hit my neighbors truck bumper. My neighbor gave me an estimate from Monrovia Collision Center for the repair. I paid this company the money in advance to fix my neighbors vehicle. The owner, instead of repairing the damaged bumper, gave my money directly to the neighbor. No work was completed. I was never notified of this exchange until I inquired at least four times wondering why the work wasn't being done. Even my neighbor said that he had been too busy to bring it in, never saying that he received my money from the owner Kevin. This is a dishonest way to do business. I have a receipt for work that was to be completed and they never did the job. read more

My Tesla was keyed down to the metal all along the passenger side, and Monrovia Collision Center fixed and repainted the entire side in 4 days, and it looked amazing. When I explained the situation and was talking to the Indian gentleman, I caught him smirking at my line of questioning to the other white gentleman in the office as if I shouldn't be asking these types of questions or as if to say why was I asking them these questions. I lent my husband my car recently, and as luck would have it, he scratched the dang thing from right, front quarter panel to right, rear quarter panel in one shot. Yes, the whole right side of the car in just one trip! Talk about Murphy's law, huh? I was almost thinking about forgoing the buff job since the scratches weren't deep at all and they give you some leeway when you turn the leases in, but wouldn't you know it? The day I told Kevin I was bringing my car in to get the scratches buffed out, I took out one of those dumb, little green lawn fences (the wire ones, I don't even know if they still sell them anymore) and it scratched up ALL of the right front bumper around the corner and it scratched it DEEP. We're talking about a foot and a half, maybe two feet around the corner part of the bumper. Well, I really couldn't drive around with the car looking all pathetic and green like that, so off to see Kevin I went. They did a great job! I couldn't believe how well they buffed all that crap out and all while I waited for it. Mind you, there's a couple of little scratches from the deep gashes I put in there (even Kevin was surprised at how well the guys buffed the wounds out), but it's the front bumper and can be excused. If you're looking for a good collision center, take it to Kevin and the guys here. Kevin is professional, courteous, and he gives it to you straight. BTW, my husband's friend recommended this place after my husband told him about me blowing my top (like my volcano picture) and he has a nice classic car (El Camino).
