Outstanding Service, warmth environment and Delicious food!!! Also super well served!!!

5/22/26 Another stop on our Veterans remembering Veterans weekend. Today I had the privilege of getting a photo of Navy SWCC veteran from Coronado Island and our outstanding Server. Parking 5/5 We arrived ~10:30 and the lot was busy as expected but we found a spot without much hunting. Atmosphere 5/5 This is my first visit since the restaurants expansion into the former business Nextdoor. The theme was carried into the new dining area and bar. Bravo very well done. Service 10/5 Yes scored correctly. Our server greeted us promptly and her outgoing and excellent interpersonal skills made our experience enjoyable. Food 5/5 Always excellent food no matter the meal service or menu items selected. Food consistency is always on point. Today my table selections were the Chicken fried steak, hash browns, two eggs over easy with buttered sourdough. Coffee. SWCC ordered Chicken fried steak, two eggs scrambled, hash browns. Coffee. For sharing, one full order of biscuits and sausage gravy. I cleaned up my plate, SWCC had leftovers and we boxed the biscuits. $54.33 plus tip. Average food for an average overall experience. The prices are reasonable for what it is, but it was still a disappointment to hear they use canned corned beef when my wife tried to order it. The restaurant is self-seating, which leads to a bit of disorganization. The place was crowded, and the staff seemed to completely lose track of the tables. After we finished our entire meal and the plates had already been cleared, a different server came over to ask us if we had ordered yet. As for the food, my omelette was good. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy with chicken fried steak and hashbrowns. The biscuit was dry, and the hashbrowns never came out. When she pointed it out to a server, they said they would get them, but they never did. If I ever do come back, it would probably just be to try the French toast. read more

Everyone was craving French toast so we tried a variety of items. We ordered the French toast flight. Which we were able to choose three different flavors. We choose pistachio, Nutella and biscoff. The biscoff is a bit thick but it was amazing. It paired really well with the whipped cream, banana and strawberries. They also give a side of syrup, but it's sweet enough already without the syrup. We also tried the country fried steak with an over easy egg. They offer a variety of bread options such as sour dough, white, wheat,etc. we also got some chicken tenders on the side which was surprisingly very juicy and flavor ful. We were told that the chicken tenders were really under rated. Which is true. The staff were super nice and friendly. The came over to check on us here and there. And after we made a bill spill in the table everyone came offering to clean up the spill. They have a pretty wide open dining area. The floors are clean and really tidy. Whenever anyone in our group finished a plate the staff would come and ask may I clear your plate, or anything else. Whenever in Arizona would love to try other items. read more

After seeing all the good reviews for this place, we decided to give it a try during our recent trip to AZ. As I mentioned previously, we've been impressed by the number of places that serve breakfast in the East Valley. We were here on a weekday around 11 a.m., and they were doing a brisk business. I must say, they are well organized in keeping track of customers waiting to be seated. The restaurant is in a strip mall, and there is a roof outside that keeps the sun away and, I imagine, the occasional rain. Plus, there are enough seats for those waiting. We gave the man at the outdoor podium our name and told him there were two of us. We didn't have to wait very long. While they are known for their French toast, we both decided to get an omelet. We both ordered the omelet that had bacon bites, cheese, and tomatoes. This dish also comes with hash browns and one's choice of toast (we both chose sourdough). To drink, I had a raspberry iced tea while my husband had orange juice. Service was on point. Our server was friendly, polite, and efficient. She was also well-versed when it came to the menu. All in all, we are glad we gave them a try. Next time, I think I'll order some French toast :) read more

I had seen the sign for this restaurant when passing the parking lot several times and finally came in for breakfast this weekend. Super busy as I would expect on a Sunday morning, so I got on the waitlist on Yelp before heading to the restaurant which is always a plus! The hostess outside greeted us and sat us right away. Our server was great as well getting our order in quick and even helped us out by making the items we ordered into a combo for us to save a little money! The restaurant felt like a modern version of a classic diner, busy, packed, but with a modern menu and decor. We got the French toast flight and got to try the cinnamon, Nutella, and Bueno French toasts and all were amazing! The Bueno tasted exactly like a Kinder Bueno chocolate bar. We enjoyed the food overall, and the prices felt reasonable. Service was decent. My main issues were with the presentation and the French toast being undercooked. Also, the potatoes served didn't match what was listed on the menu, which was disappointing. We sat at a tiny table and had literally no space for our plates, which wasn't ideal. I kept dropping my utensils and getting food on my arm because we had to Tetris our food. read more

3/21/26: Yum-mee! FTC is not in our neighborhood but a friend mentioned it to us so we made the drive from Laveen. Glad we did because it was so effing good. Drinks: we ordered a couple mocktails. The blackberry sangria & blood orange. Both were very good, though the blood orange slightly inched out the blackberry from first place (in my opinion). Food: the pistachio waffle combo & Dubai French toast combo. Both came out hot and were large combos. So unless you eat a lot, be prepared to have leftovers. Size: it's not a very large place so it can get crowded. We were lucky enough to hit a sweet time spot & were seated immediately, but as we dined, there began to be a waiting list. I was looking for a new breakfast place and decided to try French Toast Cafe. It was a bit further than I planned on going, but I'm glad I did. I would suggest joining the online wait list or calling to be putting on the wait list. The wait was over an hour. Once we were seated we did not have to wait long for our server to greet us and take our order. We also did not have to wait long for our food. I will say we did have to wait a bit for our iced coffees. I ordered the cinnamon French toast which was so good. My fiance ordered the breakfast quesadilla. The quesadilla was huge. The service was amazing. Everyone made sure we had gotten our order taken and asked if we needed anything. I would definitely recommend this place and can't wait to go back. read more

A strip mall find! Thank you Yelp for finding this cute place and advising me to put my name on the wait list. Five of us for brunch on a Saturday morning. By the time we actually got to the restaurant, we still had a 20 minute wait, but the food was worth it! We had several servers check on us for beverage orders, food order and a good flow of refilling our drinks. The restaurant was packed the entire time we were there and the line to get in was never-ending. Overall, it's a quaint, little breakfast/brunch spot in a strip mall. I'd rate it at a 4.5. The food was wonderful and so were the servers. We had issues with getting in. We got to the restaurant at 9:45 for a party of 7. We knew that we'd have a wait being a Saturday morning. We were told 20 minutes when we checked in. That didn't happen...not even close. We checked on our time a couple of times. At the 45 minute mark, the host said that they were putting tables together for us. 15 minutes later, we asked again. We were told again that the tables were being put together, but this time they really were. Our 20 minutes turned into 60 minutes. I know timing can be off...I get that. But don't lie to us about it several tines...be honest with your customers. The serving staff that helped us was great. The food didn't take very long. My son got the Denver omelette, but they forgot the cheese. I had a veggie omelette with modifications. Hubby got the French Toast flight combo. I was surprised that this cafe was open and located less than three miles from our home, so I decided to treat my wife and visiting daughter and grandson to breakfast. We ordered a platter of three types of French toast that included raspberry white chocolate, cinnamon, and pistachio with fresh sliced strawberries and bananas that we all sampled. I ordered the chorizo omelette with hash browns and sourdough toast. My wife ordered her usual Denver omelette with hash browns and sourdough toast. My daughter selected the Haven omelette with sliced avocados and hash browns and our grandson had a chocolate chip Mickey Mouse pancake and bacon. We all thoroughly enjoyed our selections. Although there was a line outside and the joint was packed, we were seated immediately by the owner. Between the time of our arrival and exit, every server topped off our coffees and stopped by our table to inquire if all of our needs were fulfilled. They were all exceptionally courteous, friendly, efficient, and attentive. The ambiance was very family friendly and cozy. Although there were a lot of customers, we didn't have to raise our voices when speaking to one another. The prices are very reasonable, as our family meal was well under $100, although I left a very large tip. This may be our favorite breakfast restaurant that we've had the pleasure to frequent in the entire east valley, but definitely our favorite in Mesa. So happy that they're local. We stopped by French Toast Cafe on Saturday morning and it was packed, but the wait wasn't too long to get a table. They offer a traditional menu with french toast, pancakes, waffles, omelettes, etc. and they also have burger/sandwich options for lunch. My husband got the corned beef hash, my son wanted regular French toast with sausage & bacon, and I got the two regular pancakes combo with scrambled eggs & bacon. Everything came out pretty quickly. The pancakes were soft and fluffy, eggs & bacon were as you'd expect. My husband enjoyed his dish as did my son. Portions were large and filling. I'm not sure if they have a kid's menu or not; since they didn't bring a separate menu, I'm thinking not, which is fine. If you have younger kids, with their portion sizes, you definitely could share. Service was good overall, our waitress came by timely to take our order, check in while we were eating, and bringing out our check. If you're close by, then definitely stop in! This location has been open for four months, but already drawing in a big crowd both on weekdays and weekends. I went by myself and was advised to take a seat where I'd like as they weren't that busy; definitely different on weekends so plan accordingly. Greeted to take my drink order very promptly, and very friendly service throughout the meal. The orange juice is fresh-squeezed and delicious! They have a coffee bar to make speciality coffee/espresso drinks, and the mocha latte overall was good. It personally needed more chocolate in my opinion, but still a great pick-me-up. As for the food, the Cinnamon French Toast was amazing! Love the dulce de leche sauce and the texture of the French toast. Love a slightly crunchy surface and it definitely hit the spot! So much that I decided to return with my dad two days later to try the Very Berry French Toast combo with a different potato side. The Very Berry was great as well, and would get either depending on my craving that day. Loved the hashbrowns and the home fries. Went in here to start a day of shopping. This place is new as is everything in this area all new construction. This plaza has French Toast Cafe. It was packed and on a 30 minute waitlist but we were sat in under 20 mins. I'd describe it as a solid breakfast diner with fancy sauces and syrups. I had the Chicken & Waffles, 2 eggs, 2 bacon. Came out quick and cooked perfectly. Chicken strips were fried perfectly tender and waffle was crisp. The staff was excellent and the owner walks around checking on everyone with pride. Tables are a lil too close together makes navigating to the bathroom tricky. But very Gilbert friendly family atmosphere. read more

We have been to French Toast Cafe twice. Both meals exceeded our expectations for flavor and quality. The price was reasonable and the service was over the top for friendly, helpful, and quick. I ordered steak and eggs on our last visit. I never expect a great steak at a coffee shop. What I got was an 8 oz New York steak. All New Yorks have a little gristle along the edge as did this one. BUT, this one was tender and had great beef flavor. And I don't know how they cook the over medium eggs but they were also very flavorful. The only drawback to this restaurant is that there will most likely be a wait to get in. They are expanding soon and that will help. read more
