Swung by for a quick dinner. Mediocre drinks, overly sweet. Very friendly service. Cute, bright interior. Vibrant synth pop music, which I enjoyed. I got the brisket sandwich, the husband got the Cubano. Coleslaw was creamy but needed salt, v under seasoned. Brisket sandwich was dry & light on meat. The horseradish sauce was a little heavy on the cream and light on the spice. The giardiniera was a thoughtful touch. The husband said the Cubano was v basic. It felt like the generic Americanized whitewashed cousin to a real Cuban sandwich. We won't be back.

While my kids played pickleball in Queen Creek on a recent Wednesday evening, a few fellow mom friends and I went out for a drink / bite... There are not too many options in the area, but we decided on Sage & Barrel and were not disappointed! We were seated in a comfortable booth within a few minutes of arriving and Nathan was server... S&BCE offers a casual but clean, fun, energetic vibe and based on the crowd, others enjoy this too. It's good energy all around and there are TVs so that the sports addicts in your party don't miss an important game while out. Our party of four ended up ordering a few drinks and then decided to share some food family style. I recommend the paloma cocktail! For food, we shared fish and chips, brussels sprouts, and a Chinese chicken salad. We also ordered a bruschetta dish that never came, but we ended up canceling that as we had plenty with the other dishes. We didn't get dessert this time but if/when back in the area, I'd definitely return to do so.

Sage & Barrel was the perfect little spot for a catch-up dinner with a friend! The ambiance is cool, cozy, and just the right amount of moody--making it such a relaxing place to settle in and chat. The service was prompt, friendly, and super helpful, which always makes a night out even better. Since we're both gluten-free, we each ordered one of their GF flatbreads, and wow...they were on-point! I went with one of my all-time favorite flavor combos--goat cheese and mushrooms--and it was pure comfort on a plate. So creamy, rich, and packed with flavor. My friend ordered the Margherita flatbread and was equally thrilled with her choice. All in all, Sage & Barrel totally hit the mark--local, welcoming, and delicious from start to finish. I can't recommend it enough!

Oh my gosh! So good! Service was great! Drinks were wonderful. Did even better! Decor was updated and mice abs the restaurant was clean. The 3 of us had different drinks. My hubby Ava BIL got craft drinks from the menu and I got a local beer. All wonderful. For food, hubby got the Chop Diane, BIL got the burger and I got the Margherita pizza with a side salad. There were minor things with each dish (Brussel sprout notes cooked enough, cheese sliding off flatbread), but it's not enough to take away a star. Definitely worth a stop!

Have you ever walked into a restaurant and waited at the front end thinking ...this is not good! Not many tables filled and no one here to seat you. Should have followed my instinct to leave. Off spring in tow we were seated.and two burgers were ordered. About 43 minutes later they arrived. Asked server who delivered meal if they were down on the back end and she replied she was here. WTF, must have been a manager in training. Finished the meal and asked the same question to our regular server and she said they got slammed. Evening crew had not yet arrived. Mulligan offered as it was a late lunch day before New Year. Left a big tip to our server. Management here must have seen deer in headlights. Been here at least a dozen times and never had a bad experience. Downgraded my review. Im sure they can earn it back.

Margherita Flatbread, side caesar salad and sweet and spicy fish and chips

This was our first visit since the space reopened as Sage & Barrel, and I really loved the new atmosphere--it's a pretty setting with a fresh, inviting feel. Service was good, and the happy hour drink prices were especially appealing. Food prices felt fairly average for today's restaurant standards, but unfortunately the quality didn't quite match the pricing on this visit. My husband and I shared a side Caesar salad, a Margherita flatbread, and an order of sweet and spicy fish and chips, and overall the dishes were just okay. That said, we do plan to return and I'm hopeful that trying a different dish next time will leave a stronger impression.

This is my fourth time here and every instance has been noteworthy. This is one of those restaurants where it's nearly impossible to decide on just one thing to order. This visit I couldn't pass up ordering the fish & chips. My son had gotten this in a previous visit and I was needing some comfort food. Crazy generous portion of fish, like decent forearm sized filet. I got mine with the beer batter, but it's also available with a corn meal breading. The fish was crispy, and delicious and didn't seem like it was soaking in oil. Tartar sauce was delicious and they give you enough to take care of the whole giant filet. The French fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. And the coleslaw was fresh, crunchy and not overwhelmingly sweet. I was lucky enough to try my wife's fried chicken and gravy which was also amazing. We wrapped up with the s'mores cobbler which was absolutely mind blowing. This spot is quickly becoming a favorite, there are so many more things to try. Service is friendly and attentive, the cocktails are tasty and again, good luck deciding on what you want most, it's rough.

The inside of Sage and Barrel and absolutely stunning! It is perfect for a date night. Our waitress was absolutely amazing and helped us with what to choose on the menu. We started off with drinks, I got the Peartini and my friend ordered the violet crowned mojito. They were both great but the mojito was our favorite of the two. We ordered the Sriracha Aioli Parmesan fries off their happy hour menu for $9. I had high hopes for this one and it was good just not amazing as I had anticipated. For dinner we their salmon and the bruschetta chicken which was also amazing. The only thing I did not like was the coffee flight, unfortunately it didn't have much flavor and seemed watered down. But overall, I had a fantastic experience at Sage and Barrel!

    Pear martini. Yummm!

Excellent location with plenty of parking. The staff are super friendly and attentive. The ambiance was very elegant and simple. I ordered the Pear martini which was fantastic! I will be back for that! The cheese curds with spicy sauce, Korean style wings and flatbread were quite good and filling for our party of four. Another person at our table ordered a beer flight and the serving was quite generous too! Just thought I'd mention that!

Cool spot for Arizona. I went on a Tuesday night and it was a little dead, but I still received great service. I sat at the bar and got a couple of drinks. The Sageadore is their signature margarita but I got a regular margarita with a Tajín rim after and preferred that. The Brussels sprouts were tasty (my favorite appetizer) and the PBJ burger was fun and had a good balance of jam, peanut butter, and their maple aioli. If you're looking for a sign to try peanut butter on a hamburger, this is it. I grew up eating a peanut butter pineapple burger and this brought me back. Fun times all around and the chic bar was a nice vibe. I watched college bowling on the tv.

Restaurant is clean and charming, easy parking, and excellent service. Sadly the food was not great. The burger very bland and the brisket dip so tough I could not bite through the meat.

Disappointing Anniversary Dinner - Expected More for the Price…read more My wife and I decided to celebrate our anniversary here after getting recommendations from friends who spoke highly of the place. Since we're in the Gilbert area, we loved the idea of a great steakhouse without the drive to Scottsdale. We went in with high expectations -- we're no strangers to special occasion dining, so we knew what we were hoping for. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in almost every way. The ambience and service felt more like a polished chain restaurant than the upscale dining experience the prices suggest. For a $300-$400 dinner for two, you expect a certain level of attentiveness and flow -- and we just didn't get it. After our appetizers, we noticed we never received the pretzel bread everyone raves about. When I asked our waiter, he said they had just finished baking a fresh batch. When it arrived, it was cold -- so that clearly wasn't the case. We also had to flag our waiter down to take our entrée order, which shouldn't happen at this price point. My steak was fine -- just fine. My wife's fish was the same. Nothing memorable, nothing that made us feel like the bill was justified. By the end of the meal we were both ready to leave. Our waiter did offer a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which was a nice gesture, but we were already checked out mentally and chose to go somewhere else to finish the evening on a better note. If you're in the East Valley looking for a truly special dinner, I'd honestly just make the drive to Mastro's Oceans Club or Steak 44.

Use to visit the Chandler location weekly 12-14 years ago.. even told our kiddos that tonight when we brought them here. Problems started as soon as we got our food. All the food came out besides our son's children's steak, was told they had to cook another one. As we were waiting for his steak, my husband noticed his steak wasn't a ribeye like he ordered. He suspected it was a NY Strip Steak. About 7 minutes goes by and manger brings our sons steak. My husband asked the manager if his steak looked like a NY strip to him and manager replied "yes, I think we have the best NY Strip" and my husband nicely replied, I didn't order a Strip, I ordered a Ribeye and told the manager it was fine, he would eat it still and still tasted good but didn't want to be changed for a Ribeye since he got the strip wrong. ($12 difference) I got the firebirds bacon chicken pasta with steak instead of chicken and no tomatoes and green onions. Well.. there was def tomatoes and onions and no bacon. And I was changed $30 for pasta and steak.. that wasn't even made the way I asked. Well my son's (late) steak was suppose to be medium and it was rare. By the time the server came back my son was eating some of my husbands steak and my pasta so we just asked the server to take his meal off the check because it was late and cooked wrong. She said it was absolutely cooked wrong and insisted to bring him a new steak as well as take it off the check. She even asked him to put his steak on a plate and "she'd throw it away and they'll make him a new children steak." Well manager comes back and tell my husband that his steak was in fact a ribeye (it was def not a ribeye.. no marbling whatsoever) and dropped off our sons steak.... It literally was the pieces we had cut up that they just threw back on the grill. Even pieces our son chewed and spit out when it was rare and too chewy for him. Like GROSS!!! They did take the children's steak off the check and gave us a free dessert( which we didn't even want, we would have rather paid the correct amount for my husbands steak...) The waitress was fine, none of this was her fault because she read us back what we ordered and had it all correct.. but she fell short as to getting us refills (never even offered a 2nd round of wine or beer) and when it was time for the check we gave 2 gift cards $50 each and our card to pay. She brought back our copy to sign and she only took off 1 $50 gift card. We had to call her over and she realized she didn't use both giftcards and had to void our card and redo it. The managers were busy the whole night talking to upset tables. This location really needs to get their stuff together. Again, nice to offer dessert but truly all we wanted was to get what we paid for and how we asked for it and tonight wasn't it. Literally felt like we were scammed outta $160. we will be taking our $$ elsewhere.
