The communication quickly became frustrating, with impatient text messages, threats of invoices, and ultimately the canceled the contract. Then he keeps making more hasrassment with his invoices!!! What was most concerning was he billed despite believe or not our property had not been serviced as expected!! From May 19, we haven't receive the service, it has been over 40 days. When I checked with him on June 29, he was impatient and cancelled the contract over the texts. Then he sent me cancellation invoice said contract violation. This guy is living on contract cancellations! I then looked through other customer reviews and found that many people had reported experiences similar to ours! How he can service people like this! I was looking for a landscaping company as a gift for my friend who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. Since I live out of state, I wanted to do something thoughtful to help her during a difficult time. After booking the service, I sent emails asking for additional details and simply requested confirmation of the service date so I could let my friend know when to expect the landscaping work. At no point did I request a cancellation. To my surprise, I received an email stating that I was in violation of the contract and would be charged a $350 cancellation fee. The situation escalated from there. Despite never canceling the service, I received increasingly hostile emails and was ultimately threatened with legal action if I did not pay the cancellation fee by the end of the day. I was completely shocked by both the accusation and the tone of the communication. I have never experienced anything like this from a service provider. What began as an attempt to do something kind for a friend battling cancer turned into an incredibly stressful and upsetting experience. In reality, I simply asked that a different plant--located adjacent to the original and easier to move--be transplanted. He did not ask for clarification or express concern. His crew proceeded with the job in a careless and negligent manner. When transplanting bushes, they used only dirt--no soil amendments or plant food--and those bushes have since died. Cooper's Landscape service was amazing. I was able to schedule an estimate with just a few day's notice. The team was able to get the work done in less than a week. I had new sod installed and general yard cleanup. The guys did a VERY good job with the sod - no visible lines! They were communicative, provided a detailed estimate, and performed the work quickly. The guys who did the work were professional and asked questions if there was anything that wasn't clear. I honestly couldn't be happier and would recommend Cooper's Landscape to anyone. I contacted this company to get a bid for removing moss from my yard. Isaiah recommended aerating, thatching, and reseeding. He estimated my small front and back yards at about 1,000 sq ft. I told him I didn't want any work done until late May or early June, as my backyard was too wet and I was concerned about potential damage. He said he'd send over the information and we could go from there. I received a contract and a bill for a deposit shortly after. Since the work wasn't scheduled for a couple of months, I didn't respond right away. I then received a follow-up email asking for the deposit. I clarified whether it was necessary to pay now, given the delayed timeline. He responded that I should go ahead and pay, and then we would schedule the work. I made the deposit on a Wednesday and assumed we'd discuss a future date. Instead, I was surprised to hear workers in my yard just two days later on Friday. When I tried to explain that the work wasn't supposed to happen yet, I was told none of the crew spoke English. I called the office and left a message, but by then the work was already underway. I asked to have Isaiah call me, but I never heard back--not even after the weekend. Then I noticed my credit card had been charged for the remaining balance without any notice or authorization, and I wasn't even aware they would keep my card on file. I should have read the Yelp reviews before reaching out to this company. DO NOT HIRE THEM. I had requested lawn mowing service as our mower had died. The quote seemed reasonable $400/month bi weekly service. So I agreed, unbeknownst to me that agreeing to the quote WAS signing a binding contract. This is a big red flag. I asked several times when they would start the services, I kept getting texts 'not sure, 'don't know'. Lack customer service at it's best. You have a sign contract and owner does not communicate a start date? After several weeks, I texted the owner and said I wanted to cancel since there was no commitment from them. I was told there was a $350 cancelation fee. The contract is written for landscaping projects (prepaid materials, etc) not lawn services. Very shady. I questioned the fee since no services were rendered nor committed start date. Owner decides I was not specific on canceling and starts services unannounced and not communicating to me. (at this point, I have another service handling my yard and doing a great job.) All of a sudden, I get an invoice for services, cancellation fee and $300 late fee. I sent text with questions and received a response with a crossing the line tone that was not customer facing. I was told payment is due when services are rendered. First invoice I received already had late fee? How can you pay if you don't' know they are showing up? The invoice had pictures of work they 'did' when another company had done the work... Owner was taking credit for others work. I'm sure in any given day, the work they do is comparable to others, but owner needs to be more transparent, communicative and treat customers with respect. I had my entire yard cleared of leaves, weeds, and overgrowth; the retaining wall fixed; pressure washed the pavement; added gravel to my driveway; and my entire fenced area was replaced with cedar chips. All the debris was taken away and I am so happy with my yard. I decided to set up biweekly maintenance with Cooper's Landscaping because of how great they were. I should have checked Yelp first before I hired this company. I saw some good reviews on other sites but that definitely was NOT my experience. I hired this company to fix a drainage issue in my yard. After they left the first day I was looking at what they were doing and had concerns. I had questions for Isaiah the next day and wanted to better understand the "fix" because it looked like what they were doing was just going to be another issue in the future. I have to say I have never experienced such an unprofessional business owner. Isaiah was rude, dismissive and condescending. It was shocking how he treated one of his customers. Before I explain my 1-Star review, I want to make it clear that the worker himself (singular) did a great job. I have no qualms with their work on pressure washing my ground surfaces, yard cleanup, etc. That being said, the management at Cooper's is disappointing to say the least. Isiah in particular was rude, accusatory, slow to respond to any communication, and unprofessional on a level I have not experienced before when hiring contractors or landscapers of any kind. Not to mention, it was next to impossible to get an answer on their business phone, or even leave a voicemail as the mailbox is full 99% of the time. The rest of the time, they just don't answer. To expand on my experience, in particular with Isiah, I'll say that it did start out perfectly fine. Although the initial price was higher than expected, I figured everything nowadays is getting more expensive, and I didn't feel like shopping around for weeks... so I decided to go with them. The first issue came up when simply having the work start. They had a mechanical issue which ended up delaying the start date. Annoying, but no bid deal. When the work DID begin, it was one worker doing everything as I mentioned before: Weeding, Yard cleanup, gravel laying, etc. I was quoted over $1100 for the weeding and general cleanup alone. Now, mind you, I had hardly anything to be cleaned or weeded, so I figured if the worker spent less than the expected time to finish... the price might go down on final billing. Nope. The worker only weeded/cleaned for about 3 hours.... and I have to pay $1100. Not only that, but there was a section that was not weeded on top of which gravel was put down... and Isiah literally claimed I MADE UP THE TASK (WHICH WAS IN MY QUOTE) after I mentioned the work not being done. Indeed, he straight up accused me of lying about something IN THE QUOTE. Highly unprofessional... highly rude... I tried to explain everything over text, but he simply kept denying everything we put down, threatened to not come to my place to finish until I settled on a final list of things (even though he HAD to come back to pick up his tools). It was appalling. I couldn't make sense of it. Additionally, when Isiah came (not the worker) to finish up even more things that they forgot to do (like cleaning the debris from my lawn area), I had left my garage door opener out for them to use in collecting their gear (I let them store it in the garage). Isiah never even used the opener the first time he came, meaning it was left out there for anyone to get and use to enter my private garage.... this was because he never communicated with the worker who I relayed the information to. He decided just do it himself (i assume so he didn't need to pay the worker again). After complaining about having to drive down to finish a job he agreed to have done, finally everything was finished... but of course, the weeds that they didn't remove (as quoted) are now growing from under the gravel (though they claimed they treated it so it wouldn't grow). Oh, also, i was initially OVERCHARGED for gravel I didn't even ask for, and I had to call out the error so they could fix it. Again... major lack of attention to detail. Overall just a horrible, horrible time with Cooper's... bad communication, high prices, work not done on time and to standards agreed upon, and a manager/owner that will accuse others so they don't have to admit any fault -- despite it being their own. Overall, service is ok but you should really be clear on what you expect. If you decide to go with Cooper Landscaping, I would advice you: - Ask that they review the final result with you in person, before asking for payment so that you both agree that the work as discussed was completed. (the work was done, and then after the weekend I got a text asking for payment. no review in-between.) - Get the work described thoroughly down in writing. Make sure there is nothing left to assumption or ambiguity. Experience: I had some bark and sod installed. Overall they did a decent job on everything; communicated when things were going to be done, showed up, and did a good installation. Except 1 problem; they left a large rectangle of the backyard bare of bark. It looked as if they ran out of bark. Big eye sore, right in plain view of the sliding glass door. I asked Isaiah to fix it. He explained he didn't want to put bark too close to the fence. I appreciate that. Well, except that he had put bark up to the fence for the entire rest of the stretch, and that it's the core of what I was asking him to do. Didn't make any sense why he kept that rectangle bare. He suggested I pay another 500 for him to scrape that area and install bark. We compromised and agreed he delivered a couple yards of the bark for 150ish. I appreciated the flexibility, but it would have been much better to just ask more questions early on before assuming I wanted a big bare rectangle in my back yard. Nobody would want that. For Isaiah: - When you're done with a job, please do a review with the customer of the final work. You might unearth issues you missed, you might also reveal additional work they might want which is good business. Customers will really appreciate this and it builds trust. - If there's something which looks off, talk about options with the customer. Ideally before you commit to things, but even after the work is done just double check. Avoid miscommunication. It builds trust. - Less defensiveness. If there WAS miscommunication, you should accept some fault that you didn't ask enough questions . When this happens, try and find a reasonable remedy that leaves the customer feeling heard, respected, and happy. read more

He communicated clearly and consistently to arrange the quote and offered us an incredible price compared to other quotes we got. He was on time and friendly, and was available to do the job the fastest of anyone else we inquired with. A few days after the quote Isaiah and his colleague completed our giant hedge trim project. They showed up a few minutes before the scheduled time and got right to work. My naturally curious husband went out to admire their work several times and never felt like he was unwelcome. We had Cooper's do some fall/spring clean ups for our yard in Madison Park. They did a nice job on that aside from initially saying they could trim a very tall hedge and then not being able to do it. The owner, Isaiah, did extend a discount and apologized for that. He also accidently cut through a power cord for our fountain on that visit. He offered to repair, but I declined. Later we arranged for a monthly service plan. Isaiah was generally quick to respond to email. As part of the monthly plan I asked if it would include the hedges, which I received an affirmative reply. I usually had to email to inquire when they would be coming... it was not proactively communicated, nor when they missed the day they said they would come did they let me know. Later when I coordinated with Isaiah asking for the hedges to be inspected and trimmed he agreed he would do that on the next visit. After the next visit I noticed that none of the hedges were trimmed and I heard nothing from him. I asked about it and he requested I send a photo. I sent a photo. Neither the faces nor the tops of the hedges were trimmed. He replied that the tall ones require a ladder (only for the tops I would note) and that is an extra fee. That was never mentioned in the monthly plan nor did he ever provide a quote for the ladder fee. He just insisted that it was standard and that he would drop me as a client. I wrote, "I'm just asking for you to do what you say you will do. If you need a ladder and want to charge for that, then let me know in advance.  If you are not capable setting and meeting your own expectations, then yes, we should not continue."
