Advertised a FREE oil change. When I showed up to pick up my SUV, I was charged an environmental fee, disposal fee and extra for additional oil. THAT IS NOT FREE. That is a bait and switch. The kicker is that once I got home, I realized they forgot to put ANY oil in my car! So, not only did they not put any in and almost wrecked my engine... they charged me for 7 qts and then didn't even add it. Terrible Service & Unhonored Warranty - Avoid This Shop. I have lived in Lafayette for over 20 years and have never experienced such dishonest automotive service. Here are the facts of my visit to Cooper's Automotive (now EAS Tire & Auto) on June 19, 2026: The Cost: I spent a total of $2,498.90, with over $1,800 of that strictly dedicated to replacing engine mounts. The Issue: Instead of factory-recommended components, they installed non-recommended, cheap aftermarket parts (Anchor and Autopart International). The Result: Immediately after pickup, my 2018 Ford Explorer started vibrating whenever idling at red lights or sitting in park. Broken Promise: Their invoice explicitly promises a NAPA warranty. However, when I returned with the vehicle, they completely refused to honor the warranty or fix the vibration they caused. They charge premium prices for cheap parts and do not stand behind their work. Save your money, time and headaches and go elsewhere. read more

I had been bringing my family's cars to the good people at Cooper's for many years. Then, we were shipping my son's car back east and had very hard time constraints. We took the car into Cooper's for an oil change and they broke the motors on the windshield wiper mounts. There was not enough time to order the parts, but the repairs ended up costing several thousand dollars. We repeatedly approached Cooper's asking them to pay for at least part of the repair, but they did not. This location used to be good. They did not call when my car was done as they said they would. I had to ask three times to get an email of my invoice. When I picked up my car they did not tell me they did not rotate my tires. They said they could not find the lock, which was in the car. Rather than asking me where the lock was, they simply did not do the work and did not tell me. It is going to be hard for me to go back after all of this. read more

Cooper's automotive in Lafayette i would rate them a minis 10 this is what happened to me I had my 1995 convertible mustang in their shop for overheating issues when Devin called me asked me to come down there to show him how to latch the convertible top so they can take it for a test drive I showed up Devin and I were talking in the office a customer came in and Devin said to me I'll be with you in just a second so I went outside and I waited for a half an hour for him to come out and I'd show him how to latch the convertible top I then had to get to work so I came back in the shop and I told Devin I have to go to work give me a call and we'll get this to happen. 3 days later I get a to come pick up my mustang when I get there I'm talking to Devin in the office and I'm asking him how did it go with latching my convertible top and he said to me his exact words were it took him and two other guys reefing on my convertible top to make it latch there's no way in hell that it should have taken three guys to latch my convertible top when I got home to wash it that's when I noticed the damage the windows when you roll them all the way up don't even line up with the convertible top part there is a gaps on both doors both windows it's been broke I called the office and I talked to Max and I said I did not leave my car like that in that condition you guys are responsible and you're going to fix it I dropped it back off over there and came back and picked it up and when I pulled in my mustang was the hood was up with no explanation whatsoever I go in the office to get my keys and Devin is on the phone he makes eye contact but he's supposedly on the phone for a good 45 minutes to an hour the whole time I'm there he wouldn't talk to me how unprofessional how rude how disrespectful that is if they think for one minute that they can ignore me and this is going to go away they got another thing coming they need to be responsible for what they did and how they damaged my convertible top on my mustang I'm not going away. I can't see much for the whole crew down there I think they're all just rude disrespectful they do not take responsibilities for their screw UPS and they lie and say they didn't do it when Devin told me what he did. They think if they ignore me this is going to go away but I can guarantee you it's not going to go away they did a lot of damage to my convertible top and my mustang I can't even drive it because there's big gaps in the door in the windows and when it rains the rain comes in and when I'm driving it the wind is blowing so hard in there you can't even hear yourself think. I took pictures and I have pictures. And I'll be more than happy to show anybody that wants to see them. As a matter of fact I wrote the owner and explain this whole thing and he never got back to me so I'm going to pursue this with the next step and I'm prepared to do so. read more

Amazing customer service and help with my son-in-laws car while I was visiting from Vermont!!!

TLDR: Dishonest, badmouths competitors, tries to dupe you into sunk cost fallacy. After my experience, I am surprised there are not more bad reviews. Hopefully this isn't standard practice for this place. Was calling around to different shops to get a quote for new brake pads and rotors. They would not give a quote, or even a ballpark estimate over the phone, but promised they would be able to give a more detailed quote than the other shops if I brought it in, so I went ahead and made an appointment. On the day of the appointment, Getting there right after 7am, I was upset to be hit with a $50 fee just to get a quote. I was NOT told about this when making the appointment over the phone, instead it was made to seem to be just a friendly "drop on by" kind of deal. When I questioned them about this and stated that I was able to get quotes over the phone from other shops, including Russell Auto Service (a competing repair shot about a block away on S. Boulder rd), they badmouthed the other shops and said the other places weren't giving me an honest figure. To me, that's unprofessional. Instead of telling me why I shouldn't trust other shops, tell me why I should trust you and why I need to pay just to try to price out repairs shops! I told them I thought that was shady behavior and was leaving. On my way to the car, the manager, I think his name was Max, stopped me and asked if I would listen to him. He was polite and cordial and would have saved this from being a 1 star review, except he was totally spouting BS. He said he couldn't give a good estimate without the VIN. So the natural question I asked was, why couldn't I give him the VIN over the phone, instead of waiting a week, taking the time first thing in the morning to come by, and showing them there? And he gave me BS about if he had people giving him the VIN over the phone he wouldn't have time for anything else other than taking phone calls... I compared the time if takes to walk to a car, find the VIN, and say it clearly to the time they were taking checking me in and told them I could have given them the VIN 3 or more times over... and he got a bit nervous and chuckled and said he guessed that was true. He also pressured me to get the tires replaced today, since I am still driving on studded snow tires in July. Yes! Bad thing! I've been trying to price out brake and rotor replacements with shops and have them replace the tires at the same time (I have all-season ready to go). But he lied and said Colorado fines you over $1,000 if they catch you driving on studded snow tires after June, to try to pressure me into getting it done today (and of course buy their tires since I didn't have my tires in the trunk at the time). I went to codot.gov to check that out, and they recommend not driving on them in Summer, but don't impose fines. So after all that, they did give me a quote, and it was $500 more than the dealership and more than $500 more than Russell Auto Service. The manager stated he could apply some coupons and use different parts. Why not quote that? Why the refusal to be upfront with the costs? It makes sense to me about having people pay to get the quotes now. It seems they are trying to take advantage of the sunk-cost psychological manipulation... "well, if you have already spent X amount of dollars and that can apply to your repair, then you should just go ahead and spend the rest of the money there." It's almost always a fallacy to think along those lines, but we humans still tend to think it sounds like good logic... All that and more left me with such a bad taste in my mouth. This place seems so shady. I'm not saying don't go here... there are tons of good reviews... I am saying definitely go in with a skeptical mind and get a competing quote from another highly rated shop (a quote that you don't have to pay for). read more

I took my Toyota Prius car in for 90,000 mile care -- to include 10,000 mile synthetic oil change. They did not change oil filter; they said it had been changed 10,000 miles earlier -- 9 months ago-- and it didn't need changing. They also told me I needed new windshield wipers, front and back; I had new wipers installed last year and they were working fine. I have been going to Coopers for a number of years; they used to do a good job but I won't be going back again. read more

These guys are either crooks or idiots (probably both based on how they talked) and either way you should stay as far away as possible. Girlfriend brought her car here, it has a flat four in it for reference. Had some cooling problems and wanted to see if she could get it fixed before she got home. Before she went in I told her to ask to ONLY inspect the problem areas and do not let them do anything without her permission. They gave her probably the most insane quote I've ever seen in my life. 660 for spark plug service. It took me an hour to pull the plugs out when she got home, they clearly had not been uncovered and there was almost 0 carbon buildup on them. They quoted her 233 for a fuel injector service where they explicitly stated only cleaning with an additive and and not even pulling them out to do a full service. They quoted the belt based on mileage which is alright but, 1580 for the work?? I could buy the most expensive belt I could find for 300, deduct that from the price they gave me and you have 1280 dollars for labor. If I EVEN gave them 5 hours to do it (would be insane even for a Subaru belt in a shop) that leaves their rate at a whopping 256 bucks an hour for that price I'll fly to Japan, resurrect Kenji Kita from the dead and have him do the work himself. Quoted 161 for break fluid change, went ahead and did that for her in around 30 minutes with a 20 buck bottle of break fluid. That's 161-20=$141 in labor, did it in 30 minutes so that leaves their assumed hourly rate of $282 The only thing priced even moderately right on this entire quote was the axle replacement, good job going 1/10 I'm proud of you. Somehow it gets worse. Radiator had a crack, the car was running low on coolant and by the time it was at the shop likely had none. They even showed the empty reservoir to my girlfriend in a photo. They told her they topped it off right before she picked up the car and immediately the car gave an overheat warning. She had to drive home with what was probably no coolant. I thought ok maybe this leak is REALLY bad so I topped it off full and took it for a 20 minute drive. Not a single warning, coolant was still in the reservoir when I parked. These idiots either forgot to actually fill it and lied, or purposely left it empty to try and get a head gasket or piston service out of her by tricking her into driving with no coolant. I even called them right after the service before I got a chance to look at the car and the dude on the phone basically refused to tell me exactly what was wrong. "What exactly is leaking? Reservoir? Piping? Core?" All he'd say was "oh the radiators bad" or "oh the axel boot is bad" even after asking for more details it was all one word answers I'd love to give these guys the benefit of the doubt but that would just mean these nimrods have no idea what they're doing and are probably gonna mess up any car that enters their lot. They're obviously crooks looking to make a quick buck off people who don't know much about cars. Do yourself a favor and find any other mechanic. You're better off asking jiffy lube to do a full engine swap on your car than trusting these guys to change your oil. read more

Overall - I've been exceptionally pleased with the service that I've received from Cooper's automotive and the way that they treat me as a customer. They did a thorough inspection of my car after hitting the 150k mile mark and discussed options to keep the car going to 200k. They recommended a set of services and walked through the charges and explanations clearly (as well as which things would only need to be done this one time before hitting 200k even if an oil change place tries to upsell me on them). I greatly appreciate the pricing transparency and the fact that they aren't telling me to do expensive services my car doesn't require. read more

Told they were booked and that when they had a cancellation they could look at it. Now 10 days later they must be pretty busy to not even look at a customer of three years vehicle. I had a great experience at Coopers and I highly recommend them. I went in because my car was squeaking d/t a loose timing belt. They ended up tightening my timing belt, giving me an oil change, and fixing a couple of minor things on my car (light bulb for my back license plate and cleaned out an air filter). Eric is the best. Brought in my Hyundai after an ice incident which obliterated my whole wheel assembly when my car slid and jumped a curb with the wheels turned sideways. Of course insurance was involved and it wasn't an easy deal. Eric took the reins and went to bat for me to justify his estimate and ensure my car was fixed PROPERLY and even squeezed a few extra bucks out of them to get the job done right. First of all I don't buy that every review is rated 5 star. Originally about two years ago I posted a review of Coopers by explaining that when I took my jeep in for a tune up they informed me that I needed asap a water pump and it would only cost around 900.00 plus labor. My gut feeling was I was being played. And I was right it's been over two years and still not a drip. Be careful with this place. And I don't know how they managed to get all negative reviews off. I work nearby this shop and they're highly recommended by everyone I work with so last week when I showed up to work with a car that may or may not start to get me home in the evening, everyone suggested Cooper's. I called the shop and told them "Something is wrong that may or may not be an alternator or the battery". They told me to bring it in if I could, and if it wouldn't start to bring the keys and they'd figure it out. I got it dropped off, they gave me an estimate for what they expected, said they'd double check everything after they solved the initial problem, and sent me on my way. They called me every step of the way to give me updates and by the time I was off work and able to go pay them, the car had already been dropped off at my work. They came in under the estimate and the time expectation. I will happily recommend them to anyone who asks for a good mechanic. read more

I wasted over two months and 3 thousand dollars because of this place. Before I get into it I would like to say that Stephen was awesome, from a customer service perspective. I brought my car in because I already spent 2 thousand dollars chasing a vibration problem. I gave very specific symptoms and was told it was coming from my rear drive shaft. I said to please check my CV axel because I was in a collision months prior....I had to ask twice if they were sure it wasn't the CV and was told with absolute confidence it was not. The "15 year VW tech" did a "full" diagnostic test and sent a video of my rear drive shaft separating from the disc. Ok, great. But did they actually check the CV?? After getting a quote for the rear driveshaft for over 2K I decided to go elsewhere, which was a disaster in itself. Got a new rear driveshaft put in and the vibration is still there. I called my mechanic in Wyoming who did amazing work for me in the past and before I could even finish telling him everything he was CONVINCED IT WAS MY CV JOINT!! He said most places will only check the boot for leaking grease and not the internal structure. Did I expect them to actually inspect my CV? Absolutely!! Collision? Check. Vibration only on acceleration? Check. I bought a new CV axle, drove to Wyoming, had it installed and just like magic, the vibration is gone. Of course when I call this place to share the news I'm told, "well it still could have been the rear drive shaft". Yea, ok. Awesome not to take accountability whatsoever and have me chasing issues when I brought up the possible reason, only to be shot down and told it was something much more expensive. I was never charged for the diagnostic test because I was told any work to be done would be included, so for that, I guess I'm thankful? It's hard to be thankful when the whole time I was wasting time and money on something that could have waited. I'm angry because how can something so simple go unnoticed? How can someone with so much experience not ONCE think to actually thoroughly check the most obvious thing? Time is money, and I wasted a lot of it with this place. I received a text solicitation and based upon previous positive experience, I took my diesel truck there for an oil and fuel filter change. Called ahead for a quote and then in person when I dropped the vehicle off, I informed them that it took full synthetic oil. When I picked up the vehicle it said on the invoice that they put synthetic blend in. Too late to complain so I drove home. The next day I tried to start the truck but the batteries were drained. Couldn't even jump start it. What the hell.....coincidence? Of course, that is what their rep said when I complained in their follow up review. Should I now check the filters to see if they are new? Several friends recommended Cooper's, so I took my GMC Yukon there for 200,000-mile maintenance and check-up. They inspected the SUV and found the differential fluid needed to be changed. They found a few other items then provided the cost and also advised whether it was needed now or something that could wait. They were thorough, professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Just picked up my car from Cooper's automotive after getting a front wheel bearing fixed and a 4 wheel alignment. I noticed a small oil splatter on the front seat which I addressed with Eric, the store manager, who quickly addressed the problem. Not only did he attempt to clean the stain, he then reassured me that I would be taken care of with an oil change during my next visit. I called the place I usually go to and asked if I could bring my car in the next morning to get the panel on the bottom secured since it came loose and was dragging on the road. They told me, "we'll be open in the morning and bring your car in as early as you can." I showed up, waited 10 minutes in the office for someone to come help me, no one showed, and I walked out. What companies don't realize is they don't have the luxury to fuck up anymore. Every moment and interaction of your business counts otherwise people go elsewhere. I found Cooper's on yelp, called, told him what was going on, and he said to bring it in. When I got there, he took the keys, drove my car in to get fixed, and came back 5 minutes later. I asked him how much, and he said no charge, the panel was just incorrectly installed from the previous place I got work done and to have a nice day. He didn't get any contact information & didn't tell me I needed to spend $2,000 dollars on this, this, and that. Just a simple fix, and nice, honest customer service.
