We're wine club member so we picked up some bottles of Blanc de Blanc, a dry sparkling wine similar to a brut Champagne. We also decided to try their first red wine from Mexico. The woman who helped us was very pleasant. We chatted a bit while waiting for the food to be ready. They have a lot of cute merch. We've been to a couple of the special events at the Indy location which were a lot of fun. I do like the food here and it's fun to come in once in a while for a tasting. read more

The food quality has really gone down hill. It's "edible" but for the price I expect better. The steak is good, but brunch menu and risotto I had was barely tolerable. The drinks are delicious. The wine selections are quite good. The waiters have always been pleasant, no complaints there. We stopped in for a glass of wine each and to share an appetizer in mid-afternoon. We sat at the bar and were greeted by Magan. She offered us two tastings each to try before making our wine selections. All four were each a good size tasting pour. I decided to go with an Australian Shiraz and my friend selected a Spanish Tempranillo. Both were excellent! We then ordered the Caprese Flatbread to share. It was beautifully presented and tasted great. My friend is on a gluten-free diet and Magan said she could give us a gluten-free bun to share instead of bread, which was perfect. I hadn't visited Cooper's Hawk in a while, but I was truly impressed by the overall customer service during this visit. She was knowledgeable, attentive, and took the time to explain the Wine Club benefits. After learning that the membership also includes non-alcoholic wine options, I decided to join! A small group of us stopped in here earlier this month to celebrate a friend's birthday. The wine was delicious- one of the women in our group is a member of their wine club and used 2 of her bottles for the table, so we split a chocolate wine and a mango wine. I tried the mango wine and then ordered a red wine flight because I like dry reds vs sweet wines. I loved every single one, but the Cabernet was my favorite. Our server was really sweet, but he put in my food order wrong, so I wasn't able to try the red wine short rib risotto like I was had been wanting. Instead, the red wine short ribs came out. They were very good! But I had really wanted risotto, so I'll have to come back and try them another time. The only downside to the evening was that service was incredibly slow when it came time to pay. Our server would take only one card/bill at a time and be gone for several minutes, but we were seated quite close to the stand where you cash out. This really added a lot of time to our stay for a table of 8. He also accidentally charged someone for the wrong bill and then had to refund it and recharge her for the correct bill. Overall, it was such a fun night out and I love that we have so many great options for food in Avon. A 50th Birthday celebration was planned to reunite a group of people who share a love for the guest of honor. Several of us had flown in from the West coast. A couple of us waited at the bar until all arrived. When inquiring what non-alcoholic options were available, an excited bartender offered to whip up a fruity drink. It was good, but a miss on their part - no mocktail menu?! I just don't get restaurants leaving money on the table and neglecting this ever growing sober adult population. We were promptly seated to accommodate our larger than expected party (grown kids joined). All was going well until food was served and one of the guests tasted mustard (she HATES) in her surf and turf selection, that was not disclosed on the menu. She politely excused herself and tried talking to the manager privately, but was sent back to the group and the manager came over, causing a disruption, as she was seated right next to the guest of honor. He explained how the dish was prepared without acknowledging that the menu was amiss at not divulging its preparation. I had chose the spaghetti bolognese with meatballs, and much like the above mentioned situation, instead of the savory sauce I was expecting, it was a spicy red sauce with pepper flakes. I would have never ordered it had the menu properly described the entree, but I chose to keep quiet considering, I too, was seated next to the birthday girl. While the manager agreed to replace the mustard pork chops with medallions, the kitchen served the replacement, followed by another confused server with a second dish of medallions. Apparently their communication is lacking. To add insult, the guest was charged for both the medallions and the pork chops, leaving an unsavory taste and less than expected experience, which should have been seamless. No mention or attempt to 'celebrate' our guest's epic occasion by way of acknowledging it or offering a complimentary dessert was made. Let me add that not one or two people came through to prompt the purchase of wine before closing, but THREE people interrupted our conversations to peddle their wine. Get. It. Together. Overall, I wouldn't go back unless they committed to throughly reviewing and editing their menu, considering all guest needs; allergies and otherwise, and making a commitment to improving their guest experience. If I was not boarding a plane the next day, I'm certain I would have purchased multiple bottles along with my trinkets. Dinner specials were well varied and our server did an excellent job explaining how the wine pairing selections worked with the menu. She also did us the favor of relieving all the pressure of following that and said to drink what we like. I started with a glass of rose our server recommended that was the perfect mix of fruity and dry, not overly sweet. The lux Meritage was my personal favorite. My Chilean sea bass was perfectly cooked, with a crispy sear on the outside and very moist all the way to its flaky center. The accompanying mixture of dressed veggies underneath the savory fish was a tasty pairing. Although we decimated the warm yummy bread and enjoyed our wine before dinner, I ate my entire meal. A nice little merchandise sales area with some great wine accessories. The staff is extremely polite and professional from the hostess to the servers. Our server, Amy, was well educated on the menu and the multiple options that were presented from appetizers to entrees to desserts with a great bar menu and an exceptional wine list. The menu is labeled with chef suggested meals and wine pairings. We had the 'over the border egg rolls' which came with 3 large egg rolls cut in half and 3 options of dipping sauces: cashew, cilantro ranch, and tomatillo sauce (my personal favorite). I rated this appetizer a 4/5. Our entrees included a 'Chicken Madeira' with Mary's potatoes and asparagus spears (the presentation was a bit sloppy and the asparagus appeared to be an afterthought, 3.5/5), but the flavor was tantalizing the palate and receiving a well deserved 4.25/5. Our other entrees was a 'Soy Ginger Glazed Salmon' with a Wasabi Mash and an Asian Coleslaw (the presentation was beautiful 4.5/5). The flavor fell short as far as the ginger aspect, but was still a wonderful dish and deserving of a 3.75/5. We then had a 'Cooper's Hawk Chocolate Cake' with a scoop of ice cream and a hazelnut ganache (the presentation was mediocre 3.25/5). The ice cream was more like a half scoop of soft serve and the hazelnut ganache, which was supposedly the filling layer had no hazelnut flavor. The Chocolate was a step up from wax chocolate, but didn't impress as a "made from scratch" as we were told. Our honest rating for it was a 2.5/5. Our wine choices were Romance Red (a sweet red) which my wife really enjoyed as a 4/5 and I enjoyed a Malbec and felt it was worthy of a 4.5/5. Our overall opinion was nice and we will definitely return for another experience. We will pass on the dessert as we feel that it was overpriced for a frozen store bought flavor. Our feeling for what could be done better is that they need a quality control for presentation before the entrees leave the kitchen and arrive at the table and someone to double check that key flavors show up in the dish. They were busy by the time we finished and the wine tasting bar had a short line also. Our server was friendly and helpful with wine and menu advice. Typically, we eat in the bar area. Our experience "out in the wild" was so much different than in bar area. Several things: 1. There was no chiller for bottles of wine for our table; she said that she would bring one but it never came to the table. 2. Two appetizers arrived prior to wine; we had the three. 3. The this appetizer came out prior to the wine (only just, but still). 4. The pretzel bread finally arrived after ALL of our appetizers were out. 5. The bill arrived prior to our single dessert being delivered. Normally, I highly recommend this place to everyone. Steaks and sandwiches are always cooked to perfection and the sides gives off a taste that your taste buds crave more of. Lots of noise and clinking of dishes and super crowded. We stared with the Candied Bacon & Artisan Cheese Plate Goat Cheese, Berry Jam, Marcona Almonds; French Feta, Pistachio-Orange Honeycomb; Stracciatella, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Basil, Roasted Grape Tomatoes, Crostini. Loved the French Feta, Bacon and the Crustinis. Husband liked those and the Goat Cheese. Neither of us liked the Stracciatella. It made me think of watery Cottage Cheese. My Entree was Pistacho Crusted Grouper with Asparagus and Mashed Potatoes. The Grouper had an odd taste and texture. I've had Grouper before but much closer to the ocean. Fresh is better. Also way too thick on the nut crust. Asparagus was good. Mashed potatoes would be better with no skin but had good taste. Husband got 8 oz Filet with both styles of potatoes. Steak had great flavor and the cheese potatoes were better than the mashed. We waited 20 min on dessert. Flourless Chocolate Tort and the Birthday Truffles. Desserts were fine, not wow but fine. First time trying Copper's Hawk and we were left sorely disappointed and unsatisfied. We had reservations to sit at the patio; we were sat at a dirty table, it got wiped down while we sat, then we had to ask again for it to be wiped down properly because there were still sticky parts. The dark chocolate martini was tasty and the pbj old fashioned was not a quite thoroughly enjoyed by my dinner date. The candied bacon and artisan cheese plate was aesthetically pleasing; we found ourselves reaching back for the pistachio and honeycomb. We also requested to sample the wines that were recommended on the menu to go well with our meals, she forgot - we asked another server and she brought them out as we were more than halfway through dinner...leaving us not buying a glass of wine with dinner. I expected much more from the Chicken Francese as it was the Chef Recommendation. There's a discrepancy on the menu and online menu with which wine it was supposed to be paired with; the in-store menu says it's the Côtes du Rhône Blanc and the online says Côtes du Rhône Rouge. I was expecting a white wine per the dining menu, but was served a red one, so we were quite confused and once again, disappointed. On a happy note, my partner enjoyed his gnocchi carbonara very much! The Salted Carmel Crème Brûlée was very soft and didn't blow us away. The s'more budino was better but nothing incredibly special. All-in-all, we live close so we might be back again for a lunch or so, but it's nothing I'm going to rave about to anyone that they have to try it. read more
