Came in with another couple for a wine tasting, and from the moment we walked in, the experience was top-notch. Whoever put together the playlist deserves some credit--it was full of great '90s music and really set the mood. Susan took care of us at the tasting bar and was fantastic. I had several questions about the Wine Club, and she explained all the benefits without making us feel pressured at all. By the end, it honestly seemed like a great value. We also had the chance to chat with Jennifer, one of the managers, who was incredibly polite, welcoming, and informative. Isaac was also very knowledgeable and made an excellent wine recommendation. When we sat down for dinner, Whitney took amazing care of us. She had great recommendations, her energy matched our table perfectly, and she made the whole experience even more enjoyable. A shoutout to Jasmine as well. She brought our food out, and when we had a question, she was observant enough to notice what my friend's wife was drinking. Based on that, she recommended another wine she thought she'd enjoy, and it was a great recommendation. That level of attentiveness really stood out. We came in early within a couple of mins of opening so we didn't have a long wait or anything to be seated. The waiting area is really nice and they have the custest wine merch. Our waitress was friendly and kind. She brought our drinks and bread. Any place that gives me bread and butter always wins lol We started with an appetizer ordered the sweet chilli calamari. It was a good portion size and it was really good. We order our entrees. We got the steak salad and ahi tuna sashimi both were really good. There are more things in the menu I would like to try. We've been to this Cooper's Hawk several times since they opened, and each visit has been more disappointing than the last. This time, we had a strict time frame and specifically asked the hostess BEFORE being seated if it would be possible to order only appetizers because we needed to leave by a certain time. She repeatedly assured us it wouldn't be a problem and even said she had notified the manager to expedite our order. After being seated we realized our waitress hadn't even been informed of our situation, so I had to explain everything again. I specifically said, "We have to be out of here by this time. We only want appetizers and water, so please let us know if that can't be done." She didn't say anything to indicate there would be an issue and simply took our order. Twenty-five minutes later, we still had no food and no update. At that point, I had to walk back to the hostess stand myself to explain that we still hadn't received anything and now needed to pay and leave. Only then did everyone scramble to throw our food into to-go containers, we didn't even get to eat it there in the restaurant! If they had simply told us upfront that they couldn't accommodate our time frame, we would have gladly gone somewhere else. I feel like we were lied to, just to tell us what we wanted to hear. Instead, we were left waiting until it was too late. To top it off, our waitress never apologized for the delay or acknowledged the situation of having us wait even when she knew I told her we had to be out of there by a certain time. Inconsiderate and disrespectful of our time as customers, I can't believe I left a tip! The service was excruciatingly slow (has been consistently the last few visits) plus lack of communication and customer service was incredibly disappointing. I just can't justify wasting our time and money here anymore and will also be canceling our membership. It's a shame because of how promising it was to have such a nice restaurant in this area. Every time I come here I feel like I'm being taken advantage of as a customer or treated like a fool. There's plenty more instances we had that I'd love to share. My husband and I visited this location on Sunday, June 28, just before 1:00 p.m. for a wine tasting. Even though it was a busy Sunday afternoon, we were still able to find a spot without much trouble. The wine attendants were very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the different wine selections. They took the time to answer our questions and made the tasting experience enjoyable. We noticed they also offer brunch, and we've heard their sangria is excellent. Although none of the brunch items appealed to us that day, we plan to come back to try the sangria on a future visit. Instead, we enjoyed brunch next door at First Watch before heading over for our tasting. One tip for wine club members: Pay close attention to the tasting sheets you're given. We noticed we were initially handed a different tasting sheet that included the Luxe Tasting, which would have been about a $5 upcharge. We asked about it and decided to stick with the regular tasting, which is already included with our wine club membership. Since we're already paying for the membership, we didn't feel the need to pay an additional fee. We also appreciated that they allow you to customize your tasting. If there's a wine on the list you'd rather substitute, they are happy to accommodate you. Whether you prefer sweet wines or want to mix and match different varieties, they offer plenty of flexibility. This is one of our favorite locations because it is so spacious. The wine tasting room is much larger than the other locations we've visited, making it feel more comfortable even when it's busy. There's also plenty of parking, which makes visiting even more convenient. Very attractive establishment! It was nice for lunch and I'm betting it is even more atmospheric during dinner time. Upon entry we were asked if we had a reservation, which we did not, and were sat rather quickly. Maybe 5 minutes maximum wait time. The one gripe I have with the menu is I did not see ribeye on it, but otherwise a very extensive and delicious assortment to choose from. I had Dana's chicken which was well cooked. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The winner of the meal though is Mary's (mashed) potatoes!!! They do let you sample from their large variety of wines as well. I tried the Gewurztraminer and was very pleased but since I was driving did not allow myself more than the sample... next time! If you like dry wines the cab is a great choice. The salads are all very fresh looking with the cherry tomatoes being my favorite part. It did feel like the food took a little while to come out (lunch portion chicken and a filet mignon) but it was warm and prepared accurately so I'll say it wasn't that big a deal. Yea! I had visited the Surprise, AZ. several times and really enjoyed it. Well, this new location is much closer to home! We were able to make a reservation just before leaving home and got right in. The staff there is very friendly. There is a small gift shop where you can spend a few minutes looking around as you wait or have a glass of wine at the wine bar. We were seated immediately and given the option of the restaurant or the patio. The restaurant is pleasant and elegant. Our server promptly asked for our drink order and asked if we had any questions. We placed our orders and were given a nice pretzel bread loaf while we waited. Their bread is really good! I decided on the Surf & Turf, with the Parmesan Crusted Filet Medallions and Shrimp. They came with regular mashed potatoes and grilled broccoli. Everything was delicious. The filet was tender and perfectly cooked. The wasabi mashed potatoes were out of this world. My wife had the pistachio crusted grouper, mashed potatoes and broccoli. This is the newest Copper's Hawk in the West Valley, which I think was highly needed. I went for happy hour on a Wednesday afternoon and wasn't disappointed. I was welcomed in and shown the bar area where my bartender greeted me kindly with water and the menu. He gave me his recommendation for happy hour apps and drinks to help me decide, and I definitely enjoyed the two items I chose. They were delicious and filling for appetizer portions as I didn't want a full meal. I absolutely loved my sangria flight so refreshing and tasty. We've been talking about checking this place out ever since we heard about it coming to Avondale. Well, tonight was the night!! We figured it wouldn't be too crowded on a Wednesday night, but as we pulled up to the parking lot, it was very full. We started second guessing our decision not to book a reservation. Anyway, we found a spot and took our chances. When we first walked in, the bar was completely full, then we realized how large the rest of the restaurant was. Luckily, we had no problem getting a table in the dining room. Our server, Karen, was very sweet and attentive. She was ready to answer any questions we might have had as first timers. We got a bottle of still water, which was very good. The pretzel bread had a twinge of sweetness and was very fresh. For our starters, I went with the Crab, Shrimp & Lobster Bisque...it was full of flavor and had just enough of the seafood in it to make me happy. Hubby got the Plain Ol' House Salad with Italian Vinaigrette. He couldn't stop raving about the dressing and said if they sold it, he'd want to buy a bottle. For our mains, I had the Short Rib Risotto...OMG! The short rib meat was so tender and the risotto was creamy and robust. Hubby got the Surf N' Turf, choosing Churrasco (absolutely delicious) and Ginger Soy Salmon (he loved it!). He also got it with the Asian Slaw instead of potatoes (he loves cabbage, cilantro and creamy dressing...LOL!). All in all, we had an absolutely perfect meal. From the complimentary bubbly blanc, to the amazing food, and very attentive but not intrusive service! It was all so lovely! Highly recommend the Crispy Tempura shrimp on happy hour- delightful!, and the lettuce wraps for appetizer were delicious and plentiful! I will have them again next time! I ordered the chicken sandwich which in the past was very moist and delicious . Might have been an off night but the waitress basically ignored us. We came here twice, two weekends in a row. Both times we had reservations. The first visit, the food took a while but it was not astronomical. The second time, on Father's Day, it was a horrible experience. We waited 25 minutes before our table was available despite reservations, however, we knew that because it was a holiday and people were spending time with family, that they probably weren't rushing through their meals. However, we realized that that was probably not the case when we ordered our food almost immediately upon seating, and waited 25 minutes just for my husband to get his side salad. We had to ask the waitress twice for that and bread. Then, it took another hour to get our dinners. The kitchen apparently hit a standstill and was not bringing any meals out. We tried to give the waitress grace because we knew it was not her fault, though other tables were certainly frustrated and we saw two tables get up and leave before their meals even came out because they had already been waiting well over an hour. The entire two hours we were sitting there, we only saw a manager once in passing. Nobody (other than the waitress) came by to ask if everything was OK or to apologize for the wait. Finally when we received our bill, the manager came to ask how our experience was. We relayed our experience and said how we felt bad for the servers, because they are the ones that pay the price. She did offer us free meals but if our next experience is not good, we will not be back. No one has hours to sit at a restaurant and it seems that is the norm here. read more

Today, it's about Shanna. Pure Goodness! Another WoW!! What can I say? When we were seated, we asked if Natalie could be our Waitress once again. Well, we learned that based on where we had been seated, another staff member would Wait our table. Step in, Shanna. Great smile, wonderful attitude and perspective about it all, and by golly! did Shanna deliver!! I mean menu knowledge (both food and wines) .... impeccable! She did all this without reference to the menu or wine listing! And she recommended wine for our selected meal! Delivered two steaming hot soft breads either butter, AND desserts. Conversation with Shanna was !! Trust me, we were certainly not the only clients at the restaurant, nor were we the only table Shanna Waited. Yet, we felt special, S though we mattered more than other clients ... all while she Waited and Served other tables!! So Kudos to Shanna for delivering WoW!! Service. Very disappointed by the dinner my family and I had on Saturday night (May 16, 2026). It was our 13th wedding anniversary, and we decided to bring our 12 and 10 year old daughters along for the experience so they could have a fun night out too. To mention the positives, we were seated on time for our reservation. The front staff was very helpful and, at first appearance, our waiter seemed to be as well. I'm not sure whether the restaurant was just overcrowded last night night or if our waiter was new, but we had specifically ordered a series of dishes a certain way. For example, I ordered my filet medium, but when it arrived, it was very undercooked to my taste medium rare. We had also asked for salads to be served before our main entrees, but were surprised when the entrees came out first. The server apologized and brought the salads afterward, which left very little space on the table. For my side dish, I had ordered the wasabi mashed potatoes. I specifically asked the waiter whether anything contained cheese as I don't eat it, and he said no. When my entree arrived, the mashed potatoes had cheese on them. Overall, most of our dishes were either undercooked or overcooked. The quality of the steaks for me and my wife were especially disappointing, given the reputation I thought Cooper's Hawk had. And while our waiter seemed friendly, he was not the most attentive. He didn't really ask about the quality of the food or whether we were enjoying it. He checked on us a few times, then came over with the check. Everybody has an off night, so we would normally let something like this slide. Still, when you spend over $250 for a meal, you expect decent service, quality steak cuts, and food that tastes good. While the restaurant ambience is nice and the establishment is very well designed, the quality of the food was very disappointing, especially for the price. Coopers Hawk in Avondale just recently open last week. It was lovely to stop for lunch while everything is so new and lovely. We had such a lovely lunch, we got the parmesan crusted mahi mahi with the Mary's potatoes, the shrimp scampi, s'more budino, Thai lettuce wrap. Everything was delicious, the mahi mahi was a little salty than expected but when I squeezed the lemon on top, it helped tremendously. The Thai lettuce wrap was a sizable appetizer which could serve as an entree. The shrimp scampi wasn't as seasoned as expected, the sauce needs a little more sprucing up. The s'mores budino was really rich, a thick layer of marshmallow, it was less so I can enjoy the caramel custard more. My friend joined their wine club, and we went home with their blood orange pineapple sangria. We had a great time sampling the wines before we decided on our choice. This is my second visit to the new Cooper's Hawk. Both visit have been met with excellent service and food. My first visit I had the braised short ribs. Oh so good. It was a a lot of food so I took half home and had it for dinner the next day. This visit I had the blackened ahi tuna. Yum. The restaurant is beautiful inside and the staff is really good. I really wanted to like Cooper's Hawk and was planning to give them a lot of grace because our first visit was on Mother's Day, but there were just too many issues. We had reservations at 5pm, which I made weeks in advance. We didn't get seated until 5:30. I understand them being backed up because of the holiday, but the host said nothing to us about having to wait. We felt forgotten and when we asked, she was very rude. We ordered quickly after being seated, expecting our food would take some time. It took over an hour to get our food (and again, not a single word from our server to acknowledge the wait). He didn't ask for refills, didn't ask if we wanted water or another glass of wine. When I finally flagged him down for waters, he didn't give the kids straws so we had to wait for 15 minutes for him to return to get those. My wine glasses had lipstick stains on them. We were overcharged for my child's drink that was supposed to come with his meal. It was a mess. All I ask for is some communication from our server and an acknowledgment, but we got nothing. He forgot my second glass of wine, which I had to remind him about, so it took 45 minutes to receive it. The only positive was the food and the staff that brought out the food. They were SO kind and the food was delicious. I'm so disappointed. We were planning to buy a few bottles of wine after dinner but I didn't want to give them any more of my money. read more

Food was good especially the fillet medallions. Perfectly cooked. Very nice. However, the Atlantic salmon finished with teriyaki I would say not so much. First, the salmon was overcooked. The flakes were a bit dry and hardened not soft and moist as they should be. Second, you never, never use teriyaki sauce as a finishing wet sauce over seafood. Teriyaki properly used and applied is done while cooking as a glaze applied multiple times while cooking with a soft bristle brush. My wife is from Japan. We know how to properly use a teriyaki sauce for a glaze. Overall, the service was very spotty, slow and in one case downright rude. One gentleman server was friendly and a good server. Two women servers not so much. One forgot my extra napkin I had requested. The second one didn't bring our dessert. We were with a dinner group. Everyone was served except my wife and I. When we inquired as to why no response. They just threw the dish, almost literally, on our table. We were supposed to have a choice between two desserts. They gave us four (4) of one not the other! We washed what that was all about. Server rudely stated one table asked for all of one of the two desserts so there were none of them left. Needless to say we were very saddened by this as the host of our dinner group had spent a LOT for this dinner for 40 people. Overall, good meat, spotty done salmon, and poor service. It also saddened us as the establishment is beautifully appointed with a great atmosphere. They sell great wine that's a little pricey. Food varies from store to store. Portions are small for the price. They under cooked fish most of the time. They don't have steaks or prime rib like you might expect. Service are older people that think they know what they're doing. Most have no wine training and slow service. She forgot to put our second order in and lied to us and played dumb ,tell we made a complaint after 35 minutes waiting for our second appetizer. She told us our order was coming up soon instead of telling us she forgot to put the order in. I have one pet peeve, don't lie to me! We had already heard bad things about the employees not knowing what they are doing at this new establishment. Also bar floor was dirty family bathroom had no soap or paper towels and woman's bathroom had no soap. We were there at 11 am. The place should be clean and bathrooms stocked. Came back to Cooper's hawk for Father's Day and coincidentally got sat in our previous waitresses, Shanna's, section!! When we sat down She let us know that the restaurant was really behind due to the holiday and that there was a high wait time for food to be coming out, but she said she would do her best to ensure that we still had an amazing experience and offered us some tastings of some wine to get us started. She brought us a great variety of sweet wines to try and ended up, loving the strawberry rhubarb and order a bottle. She also let us know that appetizers were not taking very long so we put in a few appetizers so that it could hold us over until our entrées came throughout the night that she was extremely communicative, giving us constant updates on where we were at and ensuring great conversation and that we were doing OK, even though our entrées took over an hour to arrive because of the great service we were given were able to let it slide.
