We decided to sit at the bar since we were redeeming our free Dine & Bottle offer. We ordered the Watermelon Pom from the bartender, and she was so kind, friendly, and attentive. We definitely enjoyed her service and appreciated her hospitality. A few helpful tips: * They offer brunch on the weekends, which is a great option if you're looking for a weekend visit. * Happy Hour is Monday-Friday from 3:00-5:30 PM. * Brunch ends around 2:00-2:30 PM, so I recommend checking the current hours before heading over. * There is plenty of parking at this location. * The wine-tasting area is very spacious, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a tasting or meal. Second time we were there -- Made reservations a week in advance for a booth in the standard (dining room) area for our 49th wedding anniversary. When we arrived they tried to seat us in the noisy bar. When I asked about the booth in the dining area they said those were taken by "PEOPLE WITH RESERVATIONS." Wait a minute? Didn't I have a reservation? I was obviously dressed for a special occasion and you seat me in the bar? You probably had to be there, but it was just the attitude. We walked out. I had eaten at Cooper's Hawk before in Scottsdale. The Scottsdale location was very nice. I have also eaten once before at this Avondale location, which seems more casual. The wait staff wears jeans. Maybe the wait staff wore jeans in Scottsdale as well but somehow it was a nice place and I didn't notice. My husband does not care for their food at all, especially given the price. I think it's decent, mostly because at first it was different, not necessarily impressive. The menu doesn't change much though so that wears off quickly. I really would like to see something other than a chain in the far southwest part of the valley. In any case we likely won't be back. They have to be respectful. We know the menu at Cooper's Hawk really well and always know exactly what we want to order when we come here. Unfortunately, our latest visit was just a comedy of errors with the service and the kitchen. First, our server completely mixed up our wine orders and the samples we asked for. It set a weird tone for the night, but the real issues came when the food hit the table. We ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts, but they completely forgot the Thai sauce and the cashews on the first round, so the whole batch had to be sent back and remade. Then, my "roasted chicken risotto" came out, and I immediately noticed there wasn't a single piece of chicken in the entire bowl. It was literally just the rice base, a few vegetables, cheese, and pesto sauce. The kitchen completely left out the main protein of the dish! It really feels like the line cooks are just rushing and failing to look at the plates before they leave the kitchen.Word of advice for anyone going here: definitely double-check your food when it lands on the table to make sure you actually got what you ordered.On the positive side, the ambience is still very pleasant and good. The restaurant is clean, they have separate men's and women's restrooms, and there are always plenty of parking spots in the lot. They also still have a really great wine selection with a ton of variety. Getting fresh Seafood in Phoenix is tricky but Coopers Hawk delivered. C.H. does take reservations which is highly recommended. As you wait for your table we took advantage of the wine bar and complimentary wine tasting of their particular brand of wines and champagne. We were seated and welcomed by our waitress who took incredible care of us. I always appreciate a server who knows the menu well and is able to help cater an experience based on your taste pallet. We started with the lettuce wraps as an appetizer and was just as good as the meal. Crisp lettuce, seasoned chicken, and complementary sauces made for an awesome start of the meal. For entrees we ordered a chicken sandwich, crusted chicken, grilled salmon, and pistachio crusted grouper. Each came with a side that complimented the main dish. If I was nitpicking I would say that the plates were too big and swallowed up the presentation and plating. That obviously didn't take away from the taste and delicious experience. This new Cooper's Hawk is a true gem. The food, service, and atmosphere are the trifecta for a great experience. 5/5 stars, will be back. Not surprisingly, this recently opened location is gorgeous inside. It's shiny newness makes it feel very upscale without being pretentious. That's likely due to the warmth of the staff. I'm always prepared to give grace to newer establishments who are finding their rhythm as a service team, but this location is locked in. Every person i talked to made the experience better. We had a reservation, and despite it being a weekend, we were promptly seated. Our hostess, the waitress, and other servers who stopped by were all wonderful. They answered questions, checked in at the right frequency, and made sure our experience was positive from beginning to end. The food from their scratch-made kitchen was other worldly. We enjoyed the calamari (on point), the braised short ribs, the pretzel crusted pork chop, and the blackened ahi. Each bite was divine. No notes for the kitchen; beautifully executed. We enjoyed a couple flights and glasses, all of which were wonderful. We started with bubbles and then enjoyed a white flight. The waitress also provided a suggestion and some of a red she thought we would enjoy. We picked a couple of our favorites and enjoyed full glasses, and I opted to take a couple home. While this is not a budget dinner, my assessment is that the price is well worth it. The quality of food is superior, and the service is truly exceptional. This was my first time at the new Avondale location and overall it was a nice experience! My friend and I met for brunch. We both ordered off their brunch & bubbles menu. I ordered their Candied Bacon BLT with a sangria. I asked to have my bacon crispy, but unfortunately it came out not crispy, so that was a little disappointing. The crispy breakfast potatoes, however, were the star of the dish! Unfortunately, the sangria was just okay; it didn't have a ton of flavor, so probably not something I'd order again. We really enjoyed our dinner and the quiet dining room so we could immediately start catching up. I have Celiac so the ample GF menu is a huge bonus for me, as is their extensive wine list. It's been a while, but a friend and I were meeting for dinner, so decided to come here. Since it was a Friday night, I made a reservation...and, I'm so glad I did. We walked in and the place was packed!! We got there a few minutes early, but were seated pretty quickly. Thank goodness for the reservation!! Our server, Jena, was wonderful! She was so friendly and ready to answer any and all questions we had. She was incredibly attentive and made sure to keep our glasses full. We both ended up ordering the same things, which made everything so easy...LOL!! We started with the Seafood Bisque, which was delicious. The pretzel bread was perfect to dip into our soups, as well. For our mains, we each got the Short Rib Risotto. I'd had it the first time I came here and couldn't wait to get it again. The short rib was so tender, the mushrooms were meaty and the risotto was luscious! My friend got a Raspberry Hibiscus Iced Tea (she loved it) and I got a glass of Moscato. I'm not a big wine drinker, but just felt like having a cool, sweet wine. Everything was so good and by the time we finished eating and were catching up, the restaurant was clearing out. Yea! I had visited the Surprise, AZ. several times and really enjoyed it. Well, this new location is much closer to home! We were able to make a reservation just before leaving home and got right in. The staff there is very friendly. There is a small gift shop where you can spend a few minutes looking around as you wait or have a glass of wine at the wine bar. We were seated immediately and given the option of the restaurant or the patio. The restaurant is pleasant and elegant. Our server promptly asked for our drink order and asked if we had any questions. We placed our orders and were given a nice pretzel bread loaf while we waited. Their bread is really good! I decided on the Surf & Turf, with the Parmesan Crusted Filet Medallions and Shrimp. They came with regular mashed potatoes and grilled broccoli. Everything was delicious. The filet was tender and perfectly cooked. The wasabi mashed potatoes were out of this world. My wife had the pistachio crusted grouper, mashed potatoes and broccoli. My only previous visit was to the Surprise location for a date night with my wife, and that was years ago, so walking in felt like my first experience all over again. The first thing you'll notice--it's in the name--is the wine. The selection is impressive and takes center stage as soon as you walk through the doors. The lobby doubles as a winery storefront, lined with bottles, wine accessories, gifts, and tasting items. We started with the chicken potstickers, and they were surprisingly good. I'd happily order them again. For my entrée, I chose the lunch portion of the Gnocchi Carbonara. Although the carbonara would have made an Italian Nonna cry, it made my tongue happy. No, it isn't traditional by any means, but it is delicious. The gnocchi was tender with just the right bite, the sauce was rich and flavorful, and the chicken was well-seasoned. The service was impeccable. Unfortunately, I can't remember our server's name, but she struck the perfect balance between attentiveness and giving us space to conduct business. Our drinks stayed full, our food arrived promptly, and we never felt rushed. I'm not sure Cooper's Hawk will become one of my regular spots, but I have no doubt I'll be back. This is the newest Copper's Hawk in the West Valley, which I think was highly needed. I went for happy hour on a Wednesday afternoon and wasn't disappointed. I was welcomed in and shown the bar area where my bartender greeted me kindly with water and the menu. He gave me his recommendation for happy hour apps and drinks to help me decide, and I definitely enjoyed the two items I chose. They were delicious and filling for appetizer portions as I didn't want a full meal. I absolutely loved my sangria flight so refreshing and tasty. First I would like to say that we were able to make reservations same day. Bonus. They were really busy and we enjoy seeing that. Food was, a 6.5 out of ten. My salad came out cold and good. I did have to ask for more dressing because I was giving maybe a tablespoon. Lol Husband had the wedge said it was good! I had the rigatoni and the sauce was too sweet for my liking. Doesn't mean it was bad I just prefer not sweet red sauce. He had the flank steak and in my opinion is was way more rare than we asked for. He asked for medium. Fries were good. We were comped dessert for a mishap with some wine. The chocolate cake is divine. They absolutely made the mishap right and were very apologetic and even offered to refund dry cleaning if needed. Upon entry we were asked if we had a reservation, which we did not, and were sat rather quickly. Maybe 5 minutes maximum wait time. The one gripe I have with the menu is I did not see ribeye on it, but otherwise a very extensive and delicious assortment to choose from. I had Dana's chicken which was well cooked. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The winner of the meal though is Mary's (mashed) potatoes!!! They do let you sample from their large variety of wines as well. I tried the Gewurztraminer and was very pleased but since I was driving did not allow myself more than the sample... next time! If you like dry wines the cab is a great choice. The salads are all very fresh looking with the cherry tomatoes being my favorite part. It did feel like the food took a little while to come out (lunch portion chicken and a filet mignon) but it was warm and prepared accurately so I'll say it wasn't that big a deal. Came in with another couple for a wine tasting, and from the moment we walked in, the experience was top-notch. Whoever put together the playlist deserves some credit--it was full of great '90s music and really set the mood. Susan took care of us at the tasting bar and was fantastic. I had several questions about the Wine Club, and she explained all the benefits without making us feel pressured at all. By the end, it honestly seemed like a great value. We also had the chance to chat with Jennifer, one of the managers, who was incredibly polite, welcoming, and informative. Isaac was also very knowledgeable and made an excellent wine recommendation. When we sat down for dinner, Whitney took amazing care of us. She had great recommendations, her energy matched our table perfectly, and she made the whole experience even more enjoyable. A shoutout to Jasmine as well. She brought our food out, and when we had a question, she was observant enough to notice what my friend's wife was drinking. Based on that, she recommended another wine she thought she'd enjoy, and it was a great recommendation. That level of attentiveness really stood out. The staff all seemed to genuinely enjoy working together, which created a fun atmosphere. We've eaten here a few times in the past and always had an excellent meal. Tonight the food AND service were not to the standard we expect. I ordered the chicken sandwich which in the past was very moist and delicious . Might have been an off night but the waitress basically ignored us. Didn't offer a drink refill or any mention of why the food was faking so long. This was awkward because we were treating a friend to a nice meal and this wasn't it. The manager walked by and noticed we'd been sitting a while with no food and finally offered to bring bread. She offered a second bread service but did not bring it. read more

We've been to this Cooper's Hawk several times since they opened, and each visit has been more disappointing than the last. This time, we had a strict time frame and specifically asked the hostess BEFORE being seated if it would be possible to order only appetizers because we needed to leave by a certain time. She repeatedly assured us it wouldn't be a problem and even said she had notified the manager to expedite our order. After being seated we realized our waitress hadn't even been informed of our situation, so I had to explain everything again. I specifically said, "We have to be out of here by this time. We only want appetizers and water, so please let us know if that can't be done." She didn't say anything to indicate there would be an issue and simply took our order. Twenty-five minutes later, we still had no food and no update. At that point, I had to walk back to the hostess stand myself to explain that we still hadn't received anything and now needed to pay and leave. Only then did everyone scramble to throw our food into to-go containers, we didn't even get to eat it there in the restaurant! If they had simply told us upfront that they couldn't accommodate our time frame, we would have gladly gone somewhere else. I feel like we were lied to, just to tell us what we wanted to hear. Instead, we were left waiting until it was too late. To top it off, our waitress never apologized for the delay or acknowledged the situation of having us wait even when she knew I told her we had to be out of there by a certain time. Inconsiderate and disrespectful of our time as customers, I can't believe I left a tip! The service was excruciatingly slow (has been consistently the last few visits) plus lack of communication and customer service was incredibly disappointing. I just can't justify wasting our time and money here anymore and will also be canceling our membership. It's a shame because of how promising it was to have such a nice restaurant in this area. Every time I come here I feel like I'm being taken advantage of as a customer or treated like a fool. There's plenty more instances we had that I'd love to share. Basic customer service and common courtesy should not be too much to ask. Unfortunately, the attitude of the host completely ruined the experience for us. Disappointed The good: The wine bar is fantastic, great selections, very friendly and knowledgeable service! The not so good: Though we had reservations, we waited almost 30 minutes to be seated. This was fine, because it gave us an opportunity to try the Sangria of the month which was delicious. The calamari appetizer was good, not great, a little bit chewy. On recommendation from the server, I ordered Parmesan crusted steak medallions with salmon. My husband ordered similarly but with drunken shrimp, both of us asked for medium rare with a salad to substitute one of the sides to come before the meal. The meals came out cooked well done rather than mid rare and the salmon was dry and overcooked. The vegetables tasted like they had been previously frozen. It took a very long time before we were checked on, and then it took an extremely long time to remake. My husband long finished his meal before I got mine. Management did not check on our table, even after food was sent back, and no offer was made to compensate for the wrong temperature or the long wait. The food quality and taste match the price-point, great ambiance with music at the right volume so you can still have conversation at your table without having to raise your voice to be heard. Today, it's about Shanna. Pure Goodness! Another WoW!! What can I say? When we were seated, we asked if Natalie could be our Waitress once again. Well, we learned that based on where we had been seated, another staff member would Wait our table. Step in, Shanna. Great smile, wonderful attitude and perspective about it all, and by golly! did Shanna deliver!! I mean menu knowledge (both food and wines) .... impeccable! She did all this without reference to the menu or wine listing! And she recommended wine for our selected meal! Delivered two steaming hot soft breads either butter, AND desserts. Conversation with Shanna was !! Trust me, we were certainly not the only clients at the restaurant, nor were we the only table Shanna Waited. Coopers Hawk in Avondale just recently open last week. It was lovely to stop for lunch while everything is so new and lovely. We had such a lovely lunch, we got the parmesan crusted mahi mahi with the Mary's potatoes, the shrimp scampi, s'more budino, Thai lettuce wrap. Everything was delicious, the mahi mahi was a little salty than expected but when I squeezed the lemon on top, it helped tremendously. The Thai lettuce wrap was a sizable appetizer which could serve as an entree. The shrimp scampi wasn't as seasoned as expected, the sauce needs a little more sprucing up. The s'mores budino was really rich, a thick layer of marshmallow, it was less so I can enjoy the caramel custard more. My friend joined their wine club, and we went home with their blood orange pineapple sangria. We had a great time sampling the wines before we decided on our choice. A big shout out to Tati, our waitress, she was knowledgeable and did such a great job with her hospitality. We will definitely be back. read more
