Have always really loved Tempo, but this visit, not so much. It was extremely noisy inside with too loud music....very hard to carry on a conversation. Our waiter was attentive, but my wife asked for the bottle of wine we ordered to be chilled before it was brought out. When it arrived, it was delivered in an ice bucket which I initially thought was cool, but the reason it was in an ice bucket was because it was not pre-chilled as requested. The food was excellent as always, but we were both disappointed by the very small menu. We had been there only a few weeks ago and the menu was two pages with many more selections. There were at least 3 burger options on the old menu, and was surprised to only see the Wagyu burger on the new one (the most expensive of the 3 btw). I really liked the one I ordered previously and wanted to order again, but it was not on the newer single page menu. My wife also found her favorite salad (a one with beets missing). I reviewed this restaurant a year or so ago. It was so good. This time, it was awful. The service was fantastic. The experience ended there. I ordered the "special" paella. It was supposed to have an assortment of shell fish. It arrived in a cast iron skillet. The rice was cooked but crunchy on top and very dry. There was no moisture at all. The only fish was 4 overcooked prawns and a pile of calamari, mostly tentacles. It was inedible. The waiter took the paella off the bill. Hubs ordered the "special" beef stroganoff. The food runner brought his meal and it didn't look like stroganoff. It was pasta in a red sauce that was pretty good. The food runner came back and apologized. Took the pasta away and left stroganoff. So bland and underwhelming. Not a salt shaker in sight. All around bad experience. For as pricey as this place is, we won't be back. We can have mediocre or bad food closer to home. read more

Tempo has been our go to place for over 10 years as it is usually pretty good and it's not a drive to Scottsdale. The remodel was a great idea and they have looked really busy most often when we go there. One Big Problem! Since they put in the larger bar which seems like a busy local scene...the drink service at the tables has gotten bad. I always loved the Martinis there but I don't order them anymore because it takes so long. That what I get is a watered down with melted ice terrible drink. It happened 3 times. Strike Out! Now I maybe have a glass of wine or just drink water and make my own martini when I get home. As a former restaurant owner I'm afraid that whatever is causing the bar service slowdown is costing them more money than a dedicated service bartender would cost. We've waited up to a half hour for the drinks to come which means we aren't in the mood to order a 2nd drink ever. (Which we usually would have). Prices have gone up but that's o.k. so has the food quality. I believe the owner is the chef and once I had scallop risotto which was the best thing I've ever eaten. I had it again last week though and it was not the same. I was really disappointed. Maybe because it was restaurant week and they are concentrating on their special menu?? I am writing this review to let the owner know directly about the bar service problem. We saw our skinny waitress standing. There waiting for our drinks for a long long time. She apologized but geez!!! We've seen several girl managers over this winter season and they've all been more than gracious. We have dined at Tempo regularly for 10+ years. We have aways enjoyed our dining experience until last Friday. Two in our party ordered Wagyu hamburgers. Both arrived way too salty to eat, sent them back. Replacement burgers arrived to well done and stiff, again not suitable to eat. Our server had given us great service, except regrettably he did not check back on the replacement burgers. Took home most of the burgers for the dog. On our way out, the owner/chef was standing by the exit so i shared our experience with him who responded he'd 'tell the guys in back'. No offer to comp the burgers. In retrospect, we should have sent the replacement burgers back and refuse to pay for them. I was surprised at the lack of empathy by the owner, but supports what we had heard. This was our third visit to Temp Bistro and our last. While the food was good, our service was horrible. Older woman was our waitress. She would disappear for 20 minutes at a time and then would skip our table as she made her way around her area. We had to ask the busboy for water. 20 minutes from the time we finished our appetizer to her taking our dinner order. We had ordered a bottle of wine, we were having to pour our own glasses, then she abruptly came and grabbed the bottle of wine and took off back to the kitchen, the bottle was not empty. Maybe she finished it off herself in the kitchen. It's a shame, we like the food, but for the $500 we spent on the four of us, she ended any enjoyment we had eating our meal. read more

Just stumbled upon this restaurants existence and figured we would give it a try for a last minute night out decision. So happy we did! Started with oysters which were incredibly fresh and tasty. Only with was that there was more of a traditional mignonette as there was a cocktail sauce and then another sauce that may have been a mignonette but was far more chunky than normal and kind of void of the light vinegary liquid that I appreciate it most for. 2nd was the Bang Bang shrimp. Only two shrimp but they were huge. The slaw was tasty. Overall tasty. I had the King Salmon pan seared with the Tarragon Cream Sauce. Salmon was perfectly cooked, good sized portion. Tarragon sauce was really tasty but appeared to have broken so a little tough to get up in good all inclusive bites. Papas Bravas wonderful (and I ended up using some of the lesser sauces potatoes to sop up some of the tarragon sauce. Scallops tasted fresh and great sized serving. Dear could have been just a little better but getting a little bit picky as it was overall good. Mushrooms were earthy buttery goodness. Lastly dessert only had two options, decided to try the Raspberry Pana Cotta. Good sized portion, flavorful but didn't blow our mind. Service was fantastic. First time here, and we'll not come back. Let's start with the drinks, order a glass of wine came out room temperature, not good. The cocktail was good. Oysters were good. Caprese salad was good, but so simple, not hard to do. Everything else went downhill from there. Lobster bisque was Luke warm at best, tasted okay but not hot. Beef wellington Luke warm, no where near hot. Veal Osso Bucco was warm, not hot, and very soupy for a risotto. Then came the desert, you can just tell the picture how bad it was. Peach cobbler la mode, we'll you can see it's covered in ice cream already melted and covering the whole pie. And again, not hot, cold pie. Rocky road cookie ala mode cold again. This place has a big issue with temperature for the food. The only plus side was our server. She was very friendly and apologized for the food. I won't be recommend this place to others. read more

Hidden gem! We have dined at Tempo several times since moving to Verrado in June. Every time has been excellent for all in our party. We are so lucky to have such fine food served right here. Having lived in the northwest for 18 years, I'm pretty picky about my seafood. Every fresh seafood dish I have had here has been outstanding. Sooooo much better than almost all places in the valley featuring seafood. Highly recommend the crab cake! Other favorites among our friends and family have been pork chop, grilled meatloaf, steak, and French chicken. The plating is beautiful! Service is awesome. Ambiance and live music nights are so special. Priced very reasonably for the excellent, excellent meal and service. read more

So Amazing. Have the special Lamb Chops and my date had the Scallop Risotto...both were near perfection! Dessert, Lemon Cake, was equally as delicious! Another great surprise was the manage coming over to check in...always a welcome discussion, especially when it is a positive experience to share! Went there on 2/7/25. Arrived at 730, was sat quickly. The service was 2/5, I don't know if it was a off night there but I've had better at service at chik Fila. There was a long wait for our drinks that I had to ask for them when he back back to take our app order. The mussels were good, but it only came with one piece of bread, idk how you share that. Lobster mac was okay. The food was okay, his fish & chips were good. The Panna cotta was a no, it had no flavor & his bundt cake thing was most certainly microwaved, so all the icing melted off & congeled at the bottom. The owner (also disappointing) asked us how our dinner was which we shared plus filet was overcooked and whipped potatoes were terrible. He apologized and made excuses for delay in food with no service recovery offer for poor service and wrong order. "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways..." At Tempo Urban it's many little things that made our experience delightful. Let's start with dessert: A pastry chef makes them on sight every day. I think there were 8 to choose from. We shared a piece of double chocolate cake that was perfect...this was after a well prepared dinner of grilled grouper, patatas bravas (Spanish potatoes), with a warm Brussels Sprouts salad...all surprisingly good! Isabella, our young waitress was attentive and unobtrusive. The total cost was reasonable. The music was good. The only negative is that, while it's a warm and friendly space, it's a plain, large, open room and visually unremarkable. We'll go back and save more room for dessert, but I wonder why they're not rated higher on Yelp...only in the high threes? read more

They're definitely not as good as they used to be. My mom and I went at lunch and had the wings, bruschetta and a Reuben sandwich. The olive tapenade bruschetta was not good at all and neither of us finished ours. However, the traditional one was good. The Reuben was just ok. The corned beef was cold and the sandwich was more soggy than crispy. The wings were just meh and the fries were ok. We both much prefer the Verrado Grille when in that area for lunch. I'd give their dinner another try since it's been awhile since I've been in there for dinner. The place is nice and the service was good; the food is just subpar. read more

We were truly excited to try this restaurant in our neighborhood of Verrado, but unfortunately, we don't get why anyone would eat here. The only positive things I can mention are our server, the meatballs, and the oysters (which were fresh, but even those had grit in them). The pasta special tasted like Chef Boyardee, and the salad became soggy and unappetizing because they put pickled cucumbers on a wedge salad. I have to ask, why? Another major complaint was with the bartender, who seemed to have an attitude after making the first drink incorrectly. I ended up being charged extra for a dirty martini--$5 for the olive juice and $2 for the olives. Overall, it came to $18, and it was just house vodka. Seriously folks? We just bought a home in Verrado a few weeks ago and we're driving around looking for a place to have dinner and we found Tempo. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess whom we asked if we could sit at the bar. She said of course. The bartender Jessica informed us this was their first day reopened after a remodel so they were just getting things going again. We had a few drinks and decided to start with the fried mozzarella which was delicious. After our appetizer we ordered our meal. My wife chose the Kobe burger because it was on the small plate section with the truffle fries. The burger was huge, so much for small plate lol. I ordered the Filet which I guess is new on the menu and I was brought a New York strip. I told Jessica about the mistake and she apologized and said she wasn't aware of a filet on the menu. First night reopened I totally get it. I told her no big deal, I like New York as well. The steak was delicious and the mashed potatoes were melted in my mouth. Jessica gave me a discount for the mistake and apologized again. Jessica was very personable and the male bartender ( I don't remember his name was nice as well). The best kept secret in The Valley. All of the locals in Verrado know this place very well, but I think it's a little off the beaten path. However, its well worth the drive to Verrado to sample the cuisine here. Their steaks are legendary, and the pasta is great too. I had the chicken French, which is an excellent lightly breaded chicken breast with wonderful seasonings, served with mashed potatoes. My wife had the fresh halibut, which was just outstanding. Comes with a choice of sauce, and she tried the lemon caper sauce as well as the champagne tarragon, and they were both very good. They have other seafood selections as available, and I also enjoy the meatloaf on occasion, and the short ribs are my go to on most nights. We were one of the first customers when they opened probably ten or more years ago, and have been there regularly ever since. The first time I came here, I really enjoyed it. We had good service, good food, it was clean, and the owner took the time to chat with us and really made us feel welcomed. We could tell he has a passion for food and loves where he lives. This time... we came when it opened and there were still visible food crumbs on the floor. Our waitress didnt seem to care to much about being friendly. She told us the specials but didnt know how they were prepared. After we finished our delicious meatball appetizer, our waitress cleared the dish it was in but we had to ask her to clear our small plates and for new silverware for our dinner entrees. I didnt want to use the same fork I had tomato sauce on for my lemon sauce and mash potatoes. Sorry. Our daughters burger came to the table burnt. You can see it was burn. She opened it to try and eat what wasnt burnt but couldnt. The waitress saw this but never apologized or offered to make it right. My husband asked for a new burger. Went for brunch with friends. I ordered the lobster eggs Benedict. It was SO salty that I had to send it back. Rather than have another salty plate of food, I ordered the 'Tried & True'. A simple breakfast of sunnyside eggs, sausage, potatoes and toast. The eggs I received weren't cooked. So, I ate the sausage and potatoes. In addition, one of the people I was with found some foreign material in her vegetarian meal. Honestly, I won't be going back. Both times we had a reservation and both times we got there early. I totally get waiting for a table when you're early, but make us wait, again with many open tables felt more disciplinary and quite frankly not great for business. They add a 3% surcharge for credit card use - but don't tell you about it on the menu. It's a surprise when you get the bill. I think that is dishonest. If they chose to discriminate against senor citizens or other people who are uncomfortable carrying large amounts of cash - they should be upfront about that and let you know before you order. Yes - they have a right to charge what they want - and we have a right to frequent restaurants that don't penalize credit card users. read more
