I walk dogs are Chicago Animal Care and Control and came across Frankie, a labby older guy who came in as a chipped stray, unclaimed by his owners. I expressed my interest in Frankie to CLR. Finally you get a phone call however missed the call. Call back within 10 mins and than they ignore all forms of contract you attempt. They than rename the dog you are interested in and repost on their fb page. When questioned your comments get deleted along with others who state the same thing. I was blocked from the page after asking why I received a phone call than was ghosted. Screenshot the call log to proof they contacted me and they stated just because I applied doesn't mean I'll be a good match.... Which I understand however what I don't understand is why did they contact me just to ignore very unprofessional and seems like a way to just get people to apply and pay for the adoption fees.

My pup has picked his favorites at the farmer's market a few times now, so I stopped by their deli store front to stock up! It's a cute space with all of their products available deli counter-style. Loved that they listed where they source ingredients, as well. Main cons are price and parking. It's in a pretty busy area of Wicker Park, so plan ahead in that regard. Prices can also be expensive for what you get, so learn what is worth it for your pet! I got my pup a lamb trachea which was $4 I think, but it was gone in minutes which made it seem not worth it. However, the beef lung ($15/pack) lasts us a long time when we break it up, and he LOVES it as a high value reward for recall. So my main recommendation is to find what works for your dog given chew level and need/context so that your purchase is worth it!

Unfortunately after years of trying to correct behavioral and paying hundreds of dollars trying to correct this nothing worked. I reached out to Marsha Perry in 2020 to inform her of the problems and she simply told me to look into training (which we already had spend hundred on). In March of 2024 I reached out to her again to tell her I had tried everything and couldn't keep the dog anymore. Marsha said "ROAR has not been doing dogs for many years and has transitioned to mostly cats". She also said "can't he be kept in a cage or in a separate area of the house?" She became extremely vile, unresponsive at times and simply refused to help. At the time do adoption we were told they would take the dog back NO QUESTIONS ASKED, should "life happen" and we could keep him anymore. Clearly not the case. I continued to reach out to other rescues in the area and unfortunately a few months later my husband lost his job, we had to move in with family and their senior dog gets severe anxiety around other dogs. So keeping our behavioral complex dog was not an option. I reached out to a shelter in desperation and explained to them everything that Marsha had said to me. I even showed them emails and they were APPALLED! They were happy to take him in and take care of him. A few days later Marsha emails me with a very nasty tone "I can't believe you thought this was a better option for him." Ummm...you left me no choice! Please stay away from this organization. Not only will they NOT honor signed contracts, the owner Marsha will harass you, belittle you and be flat out be nasty to you. I have reported this organization. These people shouldn't be allowed to continue to foster animals. I can only imagine how they treat those poor animals.

This is the 2nd time Sasha has been groomed by Sylvia, and every time she returns home, she's in such a good mood the rest of the day. She turns from an 18 year old Yorkie, to a 2-year old puppy. She had the "zoomies" the rest of the day and slept like a baby that night. Sylvia not only groomed her, she took a few pictures around a Christmas tree and gave Sasha a little Christmas bandana to wear for the picture and take home with her. She also prepared a little doggie treat bag to take home with her, and they were a great "extra" in my eyes and I am sure it will appease other owners with pets who visit her shop. Trust me when I say, Sylvia takes her time and gives your pet the utmost attention when they come in. Do yourself and your pet a favor by patronizing and visiting Sylvia, she loves pets and it shows in her work and wonderful attitude and caring demeanor. After several unreturned phone calls someone answered and asked me to fill out the online profile and then they would call me. However, that never happened. More unreturned phone calls. They I got an answer, and the lady said someone would call me back in 10 minutes after she knew who my walker was...and that was 2 weeks ago. I tried to contact them again with no answer. I would like my money back for the YouSwoop purchase. I would also not recommend them to be reliable with your pet if they cannot return a phone call.
