I didn't know this place existed until I stopped by the area for dinner but due to how many people I saw inside I wanted to see what the excitement was for so I swung by here afterwards for dessert. Due to how late it was (around 10pm when I came) I didn't want any drinks/anything caffeinated but the milk cakes did catch my eye. Unfortunately the ras malai was out but I went with the gullible as jamun which I've never had. I was expecting it to be ridiculously sweet based off it looking like a tres leches but I was pleasantly surprised at how balanced the sugar was with the spices. This cafe offers a lot of seating indoors and outdoors so depending on your vibe you can enjoy the sunshine with your treats! There are also outlets at the main tables, and when the tables aren't available, many are nice enough to let you still charge your devices. Service is always fast and excellent. When I went, I got the signature karak latte, which was a light coffee that had amazing hints of ginger. The latte art was so beautiful, I had to soak in the view before drinking it. I also got the signature karak chai, which was also a really light treat for those who enjoy cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon. These drinks remind me of drinking hot chocolate on a rainy evening. Their coffees are also strong and had the nutty flavor (not the acidic type) and if you love chai, you should definitely try their chai or cardamom latte (recommend hot). And their cakes. Yes. Must try. The pistachio cake was very very moist. The pistachio did not taste artificial and the cake itself was spongy. It stayed fresh in the fridge for a couple of days and still good. Their Burnt Basque Cheesecake is spot on! If you have not had the wet, light, and super smooth basque cheesecake yet, do come here and try. They do give it with a small cup of chocolate syrup which tasted like the bottled Hershey's syrup so we normally eat it without. It doesn't enhance the cheesecake at all. Wish it was real dark chocolate instead of the artificial syrup. Your order comes out quickly and they do have a point system linked with your card. This place is my new favorite coffee shop! It truly is a hidden gem. You can't see it from the street so it's a iykyk type place. It's a great place to bring your laptop and work for the day. It's got plenty of open seating and it's not too loud. I got the Tiramisu Latte and it is made to perfection. It's got a nice velvety taste to it because of the soft foam they put on top. The tiramisu they put on top is so good and compliments the drink well. The drink itself isn't as sweet and when you mix it with the cake, it's just perfect. The drink is a little pricey at $11 but you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. I also got the chocolate croissant which was amazing. When you take a bite, it's crunchy on the outside and you can taste each layer on the inside. It's got a lot of layers inside so that's how you know it's a high quality croissant that took a lot of love to make. I took it Togo but everything came out fast and the barista was great on providing recommendations. I'll be back to try some of their other pastries and drinks! I ordered the pistachio latte. Not only was the latte $9 (because I had to sub regular milk for non-dairy) but the latte had no flavor and so weak. I'm totally fine paying good money for good coffee but this wasn't it. The customer service was non-existent. It's not our fault you hate your job. I stopped in for some caffeine because I really needed a pick me up. There was a pretty big line when I got in and almost all the tables inside had people sitting in them. I waited in line for about 10 minutes before they took my order. I got an iced Matcha Latte with vanilla sweetener, oatmilk and pistachio cream as well as a hazelnut macaroon. The macaroon was pretty good but way smaller than any macaroon I've seen.. but the matcha latte didn't taste that great.. Wow, what a wonderful experience. We had special karak chai pot for 3 of us, and it was so fresh and tasty, totally reminiscing Indian tea with correct proportion of all spices. Very fun place to try! It's in the strip mall on Scranton south of Mira Mesa, which has undergone a lot of changes. I got a cardamom latte, which was tasty, and a pistachio milk cake which was large and yummy (like a pistachio tres leches cake). $18 together, which isn't the cheapest but it was a nice piece of cake. They only take credit cards, which I wish I realized in advance. I only had cash and a credit card that I'm having some glitches with. Luckily I was with some friends who were able to pay for me. What?!? A pumpkin cardamom latte. Was I ready for this? Is society ready for this? After ordering a cardamom latte here I saw the seasonal sign advertising this collision of these unrivaled flavors. I knew I had erred grievously. Desperately, I asked if the pumpkin addition was more expensive than its traditional form hoping it wasn't too late to experience what could only be a life changing event. i want to start this off by saying that it's so nice to see this place filmed with desi people on a random thursday evening, having a place for the post-function-function is great. All the desserts here are filling and yummy, I would recommend the pistachio milk cake (tres leches vibes), the biscoff cheesecake, and the regular croissant (it's actually gorgeous). biscoff latte here is good, so is the karak latte iced, i personally would not recommend the matcha here. Interior is also very pretty and the people who work here are also pretty friendly as well! I would have my laptop pre-charged up because finding a spot inside can be hard, especially later in the day. Parking is also easy here as well. if someone from karak house is listening here, pleaseeeeeeeee let us get the karak chai less sweetened. This was my first time at Karak House Coffee, but it's been on my to-go list for a while now. It's actually located in an inconspicuous shopping plaza that I've passed so many times. There was plenty of parking when I went, which was on a weekend afternoon. They also have one bathroom inside, so sometimes the line to use it can be long. At first glance, the coffee shop is super cute inside! The decor is beautiful, and everything was very elegantly curated. It didn't take long to order at the counter, but it was nearly impossible to find a seat indoors. It was very crowded with people on their laptops; so it is definitely a good study spot, however, it makes it hard to find seating if you are just popping by. That being said, they do have seats outside, but it's not as nice. Kind of a bummer. I got the mango mint lemonade with no mint, and my friend got the cucumber mint lemonade. Both drinks were honestly OK. I didn't expect them to be so fizzy/carbonated. The sweetness level could definitely be overpowering for some people, but it wasn't a problem for me. Still, the carbonation really threw me off. Overall, I'd say that this café is a cute place to study if you can find a seat/table indoors. Gulab Jamun Milk Cake: 8/10 A solid cake. Like other middle eastern cafes, they make these sort of tres lethe style cakes. This one did not really taste like gulab jamun to me because I associate it so much with the rich syrup it soaks in, but it does have a cardamom-forward flavor that is generally desi. Karak House Coffee offers great espresso based beverages. I had a cortado made with 100% Arabica and an almond croissant. The cortado was super! It was rich in coffee flavor and most importantly smooth with not a hint of bitterness. I haven't had one this good in a while. The locally baked almond croissant was great, too. I love that it came with a host of almond and a great almond paste. It was not only delicious, but had a terrific texture as well. It was a great meal with the cortado.
